Hallmark Movies ❤️ comfort & joy

Hallmark's annual Kitten Bowl is canceled. ☹

Bill Abbott, the previous CEO of Hallmark, was super passionate about promoting the adoption of cats & dogs. It was one of the reasons there was a dog or cat in almost all of the Hallmark movies.

Well, he's gone from Hallmark, and now Kitten Bowl (normally held on Superbowl Sunday) is gone too. This would have been the ninth year of Kitten Bowl.

Some good news for next year:

The Kitten Bowl will officially move to GAC Media, following its cancellation on Hallmark Channel, with a new title. Renamed Great American Rescue Bowl, the special event will air on GAC Family on Super Bowl Sunday, February 2023.

Great American Rescue Bowl, presented in association with North Shore Animal League North America, will feature kittens, :cat: puppies, :dogdance: cats 🐈 and dogs 🐕 available for adoption at shelters throughout the U.S.

Even if you only tuned in for a short time, the exposure for the Kitten Bowl is credited with facilitating more than 75,000 shelter pet adoptions since premiering in 2014.

“The plight of animal homelessness continues to be pervasive throughout the country, so being able to televise a proven difference maker in helping pets find their forever homes was an easy decision,” said Bill Abbott, President and CEO of GAC Media. “We’re incredibly proud to welcome ‘Great American Rescue Bowl’ to GAC Family and are excited about this massive, fan-favorite event being an annual anchor to the network’s pet-centric programming.”

The premiere of The Wedding Veil Unveiled (Part 2 of the trilogy,) is on tomorrow, Saturday, Feb 12 at 8pm ET on the Hallmark Channel.

The trilogy continues with Autumn Reeser having the veil and bringing it to Italy to research it's origin. There, she meets Paolo, (the name of the character and the actor. :teleport: ) Paolo (the character ;)) is the son of a local lace-making family.

Autumn was the only actress of the three female leads in the trilogy who got to film her movie in Italy. Lacey Chabert & Alison Sweeney both said they were very envious 😍 as they had to film their movies here in the U.S. or Canada.

If you missed the first movie (Lacey's) or want to wait to see the whole trilogy together, Hallmark is doing a Wedding Veil marathon next Saturday, starting at 4pm ET with the first one. Autumn's movie is at 6pm, and ending with the Alison's premiere at 8pm ET.

I really like the second movie better than the first. It was really well written. I like how there was a quest to find the history of the veil. :magnify:

I did think it was funny how the veil is supposed to be this 100 year old, precious, antique veil and Autumn was just carrying it around, unprotected in her tote bag. :lmao:And how it keeps being put on display, with no covering or anything to protect it.

I found a list compiled by the Nielsen Ratings company. They do the weekly rankings lists of top rated TV shows each week. They ranked 153 broadcast TV, cable & premium/pay TV networks in order of the most watched TV networks by total viewers during 2021. (No streaming services included, as they said there was no way to accurately compare or combine them into the list. They said it was apples & oranges.)

The three major TV networks, CBS, NBC & ABC came first (in that order. Then Fox, then some sports & news and a Spanish network.

The Hallmark Channel came in at #10! :cheer2::woohoo:It came below the HGTV network, the only other home and family type network in the top 10.

Hallmark Movies & Mysteries came in at a respectable #27. It surprised me that it came in below Lifetime at #25. Apparently people really do prefer seeing those murdering cheerleading moms and neighbors-turned-stalkers :scared: (along with the Lifetime Christmas movies,) more than the HMM mystery series & Christmas movies.

(HMM has been around #27 for the past 3-4 years. Always below Lifetime. It could be why the new Hallmark network programmers wanted to scrap the various mystery series and try to find ways to bring up the ratings and bring in more viewers. :scratchin :confused3 )

Hallmark Drama came in at a dismal #92.

GAC Family lost 33% of it's original Great American Country type viewers when the channel changed hands and direction to the lifestyle-oriented and Christmas programing GAC Family has. However, the channel only started in mid-Sept, so being rated at #111 seems good to me, since it could have come in dead last at #153. :crazy2: But, I'm no ratings expert.

Here is the full list of the ranked channels:

Lifetime also has the Married at First Sight group of shows and those drive a big audience in never-ending cycles of singles seeking love. They rarely take a week off, unlike HMM.

Thanks, That makes more sense now. :thumbsup2 There's a couple reality shows I used to watch on a couple cable channels, Top Chef on Bravo and Project Runway - which was on Lifetime for several seasons. They were the only shows I would watch on those channels. So, I can see those networks pulling in extra viewers they wouldn't get otherwise. That's actually more reassuring than thinking people are actually into watching all those murdering cheerleader moms, obsessed nannies and stalker neighbors. :lmao:

Sam Page is in a Super Bowl commercial! :woohoo: :cheer2:

He posted a follow-up ad on Twitter afterward:

He got a lot of responses on Twitter as to how cute he is and of course various Hallmark viewers recognized him:

This one got the singer mixed up. It's Bonnie Tyler singing. But, she gets points for being in the right era. ;)

I saw that commercial. You barely even see his face. Dh didn’t get what was so funny when I said “that IS Sam Page” 😜

Just watched Love Takes Flight and really enjoyed it. The friendship between the little girl and the "grandpa-figure" was something I think we need more of in our society.

PS - Did anyone happen to catch the name of the movie that played after it? (My DVR caught just a bit, but not the title.) The opening scene seemed to be an outdoor yoga class.

I'd like to see if it's on again and maybe record it.

Hmm, :scratchin It could have been The Perfect Bride with Pascale Hutton. She plays a fitness instructor.

But, it could also be one where the female lead is taking a yoga class, and doing badly, and thus needs to get away from it all and ends up going to her home town. That would be harder to figure out as there are a few like that.

October Kiss. I watched it. It was cute, but I thought she was a little bit of a ditz.

I just found out that the Hallmark Channel web page keeps the schedule up for the whole week, even after the day is over. Handy, if something like this happens again. :thumbsup2

:hug:PollyannaMom. I'm so glad you enjoyed Love Takes Flight and ITA with you! One day post pandemic, as part of a new church ministry I am keeping in prayer to start, I'd love to have a component be a connection between church kids and grandparent type members. I remember loving as a kid Punky Brewster for this reason. My grandpa (and grandma) were sure special to me! October Kiss, I thought had its moments but wasn't one I need to rewatch. I might check out Love Takes Flight sometime when it re-airs :)

Thanks for the handy tip, Imzadi. I just wish the videos didn't keep popping up on Hallmark's website when looking at the schedule. Still, I'm glad it's there to look at :)

Woorfiedoodles. I need to DVR Don't Forget I Love you. I just checked and to anyone else interested, it will next air, next Wednesday, February 23rd at 6pm and then on Sunday, March 20th at 10am.
