My DD and her friend are driving down to Valdosta for the summer and would like to stop and spend the night somewhere about half way. Any suggestions as to where would be a good spot. Any hotel recommendations? TIA! ~:)~

when we were kids we would drive to Florida and there is(was) a Holiday Inn in Covington , KY that is a 6 hour drive from here, I'm talking about 20 some years ago but that seemed to be as far as my father could drive after work on a Friday...hope this helps...another spot to check out would be Lexington, KY big city and plenty of rooming options and only 5 or so hours for us Michiganders

Although it's a little farther than halfway, I like to stop in Dalton, GA. There's a really nice Country Inns & Suites there. We also like to stay at the Hampton Inn. There's an outlet mall there and plenty of restaurants.

Those are the same 2 chains that we like to stay at. we haven't found any bad Country Inns & Suites or Hamptons yet.

Thanks everyone! Anyone else want to add their 2 cents? ~:)~

I'm in Lexington, KY and could look some stuff up for you/let you know the reputation of different hotels and motels here. :)

I'm originally from Michigan. My dad is from Walled Lake/Waterford. Is that anywhere near you?

Not sure what route you're taking, but St. Louis may be about 1/2 way. All the major chains are there, just go the the suburbs.

We live in Cincinnati and I think it takes us 9 hours to drive to Valdosta. The one time I drove to Detroit I remembering it being 6 hours away. I think Lexington Kentucky would be about a halfway point. Good Luck!

Lenior, TN is 1/2 way from Port Huron to Leesburg, FL. You would be about an hour closer and Leesburg is about 2 hours farther than Valdosta so it would still be close. My mom and Aunt used to stay at the Inn of Lenior all the time but I would not recommend it now. I know there is a couple of chain motel/hotels there and the last time we went through they didn't look bad but we didn't stay there.

It takes us about 14 hours to get to Valdosta from metro detroit. I would say somewhere between Corbin, Kentucky and Chattanooga, Tennessee would be a good halfway point.

My DH refers to you all as "my Disney friends" and it just amazes him as to how much info I obtain from these boards. :p

We Luv Diznee World , someone over on the transportation boards also suggested Chattanooga, TN. They recommended the Hamilton Mall area east of the city, exit 5.

Mom to Will and Finn , Walled Lake is about half an hour away, our neighbor down the street works there. Thanks for the offer, I may be taking you up on that. ~:)~

I live a hour south of you in Toledo and last year we used Chattannoga as a halfway point. It was about 9 hours for each day of driving which was not too bad. You can get some good deals on hotels thru Priceline for this city. We got a room for 30 dollars and I believe it was La Quinta.
