Hello

disney newby here.

Just booked a stay at the Hotel New York for me and the misses at DLRP.

Staying in an Empire State Room over halloween 29th October - 2nd November 2008

originally wanted to go for Castle Club at the Disney Hotel but told these were sold out.

Empire room at Disney New York seems a great value option especially with the lounge and VIP passes.

I also booked Half-board meal vouchers premium option.

Question i have is about this face value thing...

I paid £31 for each voucher and all the prices at the restaurants are in euros.

Does this mean that the face value will be £31 * current rate which is about 1.2 which equates to 37.2 euros???

Or do they use the exchange rate quoted in the brochures which they used to calculate the sterling prices which is 1.4350, this would equate to a value of 44.49 euros??

As you see it is quite a difference...

Can anyone who have used these enlighten me please??

There seems to be alot of confusion regarding the Empire state rooms and i hope to come back with some answers and pictures..

Thanks

I know you get a much better euro rate than normal. I'll see if I can find out exact for you. I turned down HBpremium with our recent Disneyland hotel booking and went for plus instead as I am always too excited to eat at disney!!

From what i can see online its 44euros face value. :)

I'm really looking forward to hearing about your trip :) .

We have booked HNY Empire State Club with premium board for 8 nights in December (we also tried Castle Castle club but it was not available for the middle part of our stay and we didnt want to change hotels mid trip then change back). It is our first trip to Disneyland Paris and after reading many negative reports of HNY on a couple of other boards lately about the cleanliness of the bathrooms, including mould  and rooms being dirty  , plus poor service and rooms not being serviced until very late in the afternoon, I have to say we are getting very nervous :scared1: about our choice and are considering changing our reservation to Disneyland Hotel (std room). We like the idea of the vip fastpass though so wouldn't have that in a std room at Disneyland Hotel, but are holding off on changing just yet, to hear more Empire State Club reviews as have only read the one so far, the rest of the reviews are regarding dirty rooms and bathrooms were std rooms. When we booked Empire State Club, the lady assured us that the rooms have been renovated and that she had seen them and they were lovely, but the report I have read said that they haven't.

So..... I am looking forward to your trip report as we would love to hear what the Empire State Club is like (photos would be nice too) and about the premium board and hopefully putting our minds at ease :) .

Have a great trip :) .

Hi thanks for the welcomes and thanks torsie24 for your response.

44 euros face value seems very great value especially with the volatile pound euro rate at the moment..

just have to make sure were hungry..:)

Wow! Going with the reckoning that they use a fixed exchange rate this really makes the HB option really attractive for us Brits at the moment.
According to the dlrp site - offers.disneylandparis.co.uk/packages/tailor-made-dreams/half-board-meal-plans.xhtml - the HBplus voucher costs £17, and from other posts here has a face value of 25euros.

That's a whopping exchange rate of 1.47 euros to the pound! Todays exchange rate is 1.24, and that's before your credit card company or bank have had their slice... So, unless my maths teacher :teacher: really did let me down, a 20% saving!

:cool1:

Now a question from me...
Has anyone ever tried combining HB with Shareholders club discount?
ie, get a 29euro meal, getting the 15% shareholders discount, and paying for it with the 25euro face value of HBplus voucher?

Hmmm, am I getting into this too deep or is that a moth escaping from my wallet!

popcorn::

Hi me again

Ok another question wonder if anyone can help me..

Ok the face value of half board premium is going to be 44 euros.

So say two people are eating both with HBP vouchers. So 2 * 44 = 88 euros.

Does this mean that if the total bill for 2 is 100 euros then 88 will come off this leaving €12 or....

they look at what each person ordered then take 44 off this....

so if A orders 41 euros of food then there is no change and they give their 44 euro voucher

and B orders 60 euros of food and gives there 44 euro voucher leaving €16 euro ...

You see what i mean??!!???

reason why im asking is if a carnivore and my wifes a herbivore so i see my bills being a lot more...

I think if it is case 1 then well be ok..case 2 and we lose out slightly..

Can Anyone help???
