:wizard: Hi, guys after just reading over the half board options and looking at the meal prices on the dlrpfoodguide, it is definitely a worthwhile consideration.
With Standard HB at only £13 for adults and £6 for children and
HB Plus at £17 adult and £7 child.
Roughly on average the equivalent meals purchased separately in the alocated Restaurants would cost £25 per adult! So I think it's pretty worthwhile and with some of the available restaurants.

So if you think you will end up eating in the park and you're staying at a Disney hotel, i would takea good look at the food available in the alocated half board restaurants and consider half board or half board plus, and you have the option to 'upgrade'.

Hope that helps some people save some cash to spend on souvenirs!

According to the Disneyland Paris web site you can save up to 15%.

"Half Board Meal Plans offer up to a 15% saving in a variety of restaurants in the whole Resort.
They are pre-paid meal vouchers valid at a variety of restaurants throughout the Resort for packages bought at a Disney® Hotel* for arrivals starting 10th November 2006. They're designed to help you budget your stay with savings of up to 15%, and give you the peace of mind that everything is pre-paid. "

As it says good for budgeting and for those that will take at least one table service meal a day :)

I think you are wrong... Don't know where restaurant have you chosen, but I'm afraid the menu is 25 EUROS, so you can save 1 or 2 euros only with the half board or half board plus. But , in some restaurants you can loose 1 euro if you pay this way. So, IMO the half board plus its not a bargain ;)

I also read that it can not be booked if you are staying at the Disneyland Hotel, though I don't know why.:confused3

Ah yes you are right my mistake, I was thinking the menus were in £ not E. :sad1:
oh well I'm glad you pointed it out otherwise i would have booked it and got a shock!
sorry if i confused anybody
oh well it'll be off to la vallee then for a few meals!

As you know we, people from continent, always doing strange things....
We drive on the wrong side or use a strange common currency :rotfl:

Just bumping this up-anyone got anymore experience of going haflboard lately??

It seems well worth it but i don't want to buy halfboard plus vouchers then get to walts and be given a menu with next to nothing on it! and not allowed to choose from the main menu (it doesn't say anything about having to choose your food off a limited menu but evidence from people who have been seems to the contrary.. a bit like when you go to a designer store with a sale on if you buy a non sale item you get a designer carrier bag if you buy a sale item you get a bag with "sale" stamped all over it!)

Thus pointing out your not flashing your cash... if you catch my drift ;)

I have visions of being extradited to the basement and being given a thimble with squash in and other peoples leftovers on a side plate from other reports i have read!

We went half board plus and were there last week. I think we got a good deal as we only had to put money to drinks and things in the Steakhouse in the Village. We had a character meal in the Lucky nugget last Friday afternoon which was fab and it would have been covered only DH and I got extra drinks. We also had a buffet in the Sequoia lodge one night too and I think we only paid for extra drinks. It is 30 euro per adult at the Lucky Nugget so we saved a good bit with that being about £23. Or maybe they made a mistake?
It was great not having to worry about using a lot of our spending money on meals!

Can confirm we used the Vouchers last week when we stayed at DLH - we also thought this but was able to purchase the vouchers with our hotel package. We booked through a travel agent - not sure if this makes a difference.

We used HB plus vouchers last week. We found them very flexible. We used one for the Lucky Nugget, which as someone pointed out costs 30 euros, so a saving of 8 euros each there. We used two for Auberge de Cendrillon, which I think costs 55 euros but I may be wrong, in any case it was still a saving.
In Annettes, and I think this is the case with any participating restaurant, we decided not to stick to the set menu, and the waiter still accepted the vouchers and took 22 euros per adult (can't remember the child amount) off the bill. The set menu was a classic burger plus side, so I think a choice of about 5 burgers and 5 sides.

I will repost a calculation I did from our recent trip

"We found it great to prebudget and not carry cash but also saved us money.

For example meal at Cape Cod 27E and 12E without sodas at 3.50E each.

4 adults 1 child with drinks with 15% Shareholder = 116.88E / £87.01

Half board plus vouchers at time of travelling £16 & £6 = £70 per day

Vouchers entitle you to one drink per person

Saving £17.01 just on that one meal

obviously even more benefit for none shareholders where same meal for 5 with drink each would cost

£102.78 so a saving of £32.78 with half board plus!!!!"

Same pricing applied to Hunters Grill and the cheapest meal if we were to pay was Agrabah cafe which I cant remember if when buying from the menu included drinks or not. Even saying it did the meal was 24E and 10E for 5 of us working at 106E or £80.12 so still saving £10 !! 5 drinks on top of that at 3.50E as was the case elsewhere if using buffet menu would have added another 17.50E / £13.22 !! on top as a drink was included on the vouchers.

We would definately use them again and suited us :thumbsup2

All depends on where you want to eat but got good value from

buffets:thumbsup2

Each to their own opinion as people see positives and negatives differently

and what works well for one may not always for someone else :goodvibes

Thanks everyone my mind is well and truly at rest now! We have booked half board plus for our trip in a few weeks time and have been a little worried that we might feel restricted, but we have provisionaly thought of going to annettes diner on Weds, Cafe Mickey on thurs, we already have wild west show booke dfor Ffi and thought we'd do lunch at lucky nugget saloon on sat, so I think we might be ok!!!

Does that all sound ok? I know we will have to pay extra for cafe mickey, but really looking forward to some character interaction as three of the kids will be 2 and under when we go. We also have a character breakfast booked too! Or do you think we are going overboard with the character meals?

Kaz xx

Very true, personally i thought the vouchers were great and i was very impressed with all the meals we had using them, i would def use them again plus they have made some changes in the where/how you can use them now-as when we first used the vouchers they had only just started

Nah, you can never have too many character meals! :rotfl:

Def agree with this, character meals are great!!even if i am always the one behind the camera and not with the chararcter :goodvibes

thanks for this guys it's alleviating my worries somewhat :thumbsup2

one hopefully cheaper dis experience coming up???

Can you only get these vouchers if you are booking a whole package? We are thinking about using our DVC points to stay and these vouchers would be a big help to us for budgeting.

We booked the vouchers with a room only rate as we have Annual

passes:thumbsup2

I assume you will be able to book them too :confused3
