Hakuna Matata: Official thread Part deux

Welcome to Dawn and Cobbler!

Good job everyone on the great week.

Connie, I PM's Scotts and my totals to you.

Have a great day!

I try very hard not to speak about the weather here in Florida, as I realize that many of you across the country are facing unbearable conditions. But I just have to say that today's weather with 25-mile gust winds was one of my toughest 6-miles run that I have endured in quite some time. There were times where the wind shoved me without having the ability to defend myself left me feeling like a bag of empty Doritos whipped around to and fro. The only amusement about this morning’s run was watching the seagulls fly into the wind, getting absolutely nowhere in their flight :rotfl: .
Ok, no more mention of the 60-degree weather conditions in Florida.

Welcome to the team Cobbler :).

Kathy – God bless your son and be with him as he protects our nation's freedom :lovestruc.

Dawnie – Welcome aboard the Hakuna Matata tree! The only guidance that I wanted to offer you regarding the marathon is to really respect the mileage and time involved with training for the actual marathon itself. Take it slow and ease into your mileage increases with no more than 10% per week; and mostly, have FUN with your training, don’t make it a chore.
Please do keep us updated with how your training is going, as this board is full of love and support :grouphug:.

Back to hitting the books kids!! AND...a warm cup of coffee (maybe 3-4 cups):wave2:

Wow Donna, you are going to have to start wearing a weight belt to keep your little self on the ground. I have done that here, watching the birds fighting against the wind, except here it's crows and buzzards.

I have to go back to work today, they haven't closed the mall so it's off to work I go. It will be interesting trying to counsel paitents when I can't half talk.;)

It looks like the whole country is having a weird winter, so maybe we will have a wonderfull summer that is unusually nice with low humidity. I can't wait to see everyone again, but when I do it will be fall again.

Scott and Lynn that is so cool that you guys are scuba instructors in the far north and Dawn sells bait. Dawn you know in Kentucky that would make you Royalty.:)

Snowed in Panda:hippie:

Jimmy Concert replay tonight while mouse burgers cook. Insulation and drywall after a long dog walk were the event of the day for us. Then might watch the DaVinci Code.

Dave good to hear you are doing great with the achilies and the teeth.

Team you all are doing great.

St Paddy Day 5 K run next weekend. Hope to finish the drywall tomorrow. Also would like to get a nice long run in, if the weather cooperates.

Hi everyone!! I am here, a little tired but here.

Um, if I am understanding this correctly we report our milage for the week and if we do something else besides running then we report the hours, correct?

I see it runs from Sat - Friday so I guess I start today.

Well I logged in 5 miles today :) (plus 1/2 mile warm-up/down, but I don't count those numbers in my milage).

A little about me, I live in MI - brrr. I ran track in high school, I was a sprinter, no way could I do any distance running.

Well after the member cruise last year there was that ToT 6.5K and I thought how fun that would be and I kind of had this goal to run a half marathon sometime before I got too old. So I decided to give the ToT a try to see how I liked it. Well it was a blast and I was really proud of myself.

So low and behold I am signed up for the Minnie 15K in May, I conned hubby into running the EE 5K with me after the Member Cruise this year and I did sign up for the 1/2 in '09!!

It's all about the medals ;) I am, on average, running a 12.30 minute mile. Not bad for never doing any kind of distance run and to be honest I am just going for distance and not speed.

So that is it for me.

Hi Cobbler, we have a player on the Super Goofs, Princessrunner who is from Maine also.

Connie, you raced and got hardware, cool:worship:

Everyone Hi:flower3:

Had to work today so just a quick hello and off to bed.

Have a great Sunday.

Tired Panda:hippie:

Welcome Cobbler! :cheer2:
It's nice our MI group is growing - I am from the Kalamazoo area.

Not sure about your comment - doing it before you got too old...what is too old? :rotfl: I read an article about this British guy who is running a marathon at 101!

And yes, Panda will verify you do count the time you run along with any cross training, stretching, Pilate's, Yoga, snow shoveling, etc. Then you also log the miles in the miles section.

So if you ran 6 miles in an hour :teacher: you register both Miles: 6 Time: 1 hr

Oh, dear Panda - No Shovel so you were not able to get in the shoveling time today...bummer! Didn't you just mow your lawn :confused3

Welcome Dawn and Cobbler. Looks like the weather has hit the Midwest pretty hard. hang in there kids. Wish I was in FL. Clear and 20, will wait till it warms up to get outside. Wind is at zero MPH, guess all the politicians have left WY :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: wish they would have left some hot air.

Drywalling left me a little sore, but that will pass. Got more to do today.

DST has me messed up.

Just returned from a quick 5K run, now to hit the drywall. Will count how many times we go up and down the stairs, could be interesting.

Ok, then I ran my 5 miles in 1:03.

Today is my rest day since I did the long run yesterday.

Lynn and I started to count our trips up and down the stairs as we haul the drywall.

Lunch time is over back to work.

Hope all are having a great day.

Welcome Cobbler!!
Hey, Kewz1, I live in Alabama too :goodvibes its snowing here in Birmingham today :thumbsup2
Hey neighbor! :yay:
DH and I are leaving Thursday to go visit our son and his family in Tennessee before our son is re-deployed to Iraq.
My Dh is currently stationed in Baghdad. I'll be praying for your son and your family as you go through this separation again. Hugs to you all.

Kathy and Kristen there is no more noble a profession than being one of your nations heroes. As a retired warrior I know I can speak for all warriors past and present that we pray for a day when we could lay down our arms and live in peace. But untill theat day comes when we need fear no evil our warriors will stand ready to defend their families and their nation. Freedom is indeed not free and people like your son Kathy and your husband Kristen pay the price for many.

A warrior need never bow his or her head in shame because they are indeed our best and our bravest.

This has been a screwed up week for Erica and I. We were hit by a huge (for us) storm with about 6 inches of snow and last week it was 70 degrees and last night on my way home it was 15 degrees. Today the sun came out while I was working and the snow mostly melted. Erica has come down with a stomach virus and feels like crap. Maybe someday this week things will be normal again.

Yes Margie we have no shovel. It would have been unused for 14 years in the garage, as it is we drive right into the garage and walk into the house under cover. Wednesday when it was 70 was when I mowed the yard since the grass is green and growing.

Nothing to report training wise except lots of sleep and rest. We may, if Erica feels better tomorrow walk some in Nashville. By tuesday though I will be back training for sure.

I hope everyone else is doing better and not under the weather literally.

Walking Panda:hippie:

Our thoughts and prayers are with all our troops.

Didn't finish the drywall as I got called out for work, the OT will help pay for the materials.

We made 43 trips up and down the stairs so that would be 40 plus floors. Can we count that. LOL

But of course master builder. Steps is steps.

Welcome to my daily walks! 25 mph wind gusts are pretty normal here. Today, the sustained wind was 15-20mph, I did not check the gusts when I got home (we have a weather station that tells me the wind speeds). When Scott got called into work, I took the dogs on a 6 mile walk, did not walk fast today, but I think I feel better when I do try to keep up a decent speed. As Scott says, we have been doing dry-wall all weekend, we would have finished the room today if he had not been called out to work. I will have to figure out how much time we spent on the stairs to count them in our workouts for today:lmao:

Hi, everyone! Welcome, Cobbler!

Kristen, my thoughts are prayers are with you and your husband. I know how difficult this was for us the first time DS was in Iraq, and I can't imagine how many times more difficult it would be having a spouse there. My DH spent 8 years in the Navy, but it was mostly during peacetime, thank goodness. Thank you, team, for being so supportive of our troops and their families!

I did 7 miles yesterday. It was a little nippy, about 29 degrees when I started, but no wind. No wind is truly wonderful! :rolleyes1 I was not very fast at all, averaging only 3.6 mph, but it was quite a nice walk. I am beginning to think I will not ever be walking fast again, but mostly I am fine with that. I am still out there walking! Connie will be leaving me in the dust in OKC next month! Speaking of Connie, Woo-hoo! :cheer2: She got a silver in her 5k on Saturday! You go, girl! :woohoo: And her granddaughter got a gold! What fun!

I have my house cleaned, my laundry done :laundy: and my car all cleaned up, ready for our trip, in spite of having two of our grandsons over the weekend. Thank goodness for my DH, who is always great about pitching in with whatever needs done, from diaper changing to vacuuming! :lovestruc

Have a great week, all, and keep up the good work!

Good morning team! Looks like a nice day here in Cheyenne, cold but no wind. I have to wait for the plumber this morning to come and finish off our basement bathroom, so I won't get out until later. It should be warmer today, with mild (10-15 mph) winds. Tomorrow is supposed to be nearly 60 degrees, then snow is forcast for Wednesday:scared1: It also looks like it may be snowing for the St. Patricks 5K we are doing Sat. in Ft. Collins. Welcome to spring in the West!

Happy Monday everyone! Anyone else get tons and tons of snow on the weekend? I think we had more than a foot and we're running out of places to put it! Most of my neighbours started shoveling enough just to get one car out of the driveway.

Missed my Sunday miles on the TM but plan to make up for them tonight. Btw, does anyone have tips on keeping shoelaces tied? Lately, my shoe laces keep coming undone while I'm running - I don't like stopping because I don't want to get back on again :)

A big welcome to Cobbler and Dawn!
