Hakuna Matata, NO Fooling it's April!!

Hi TEAM! :wave2:

Dreary Day in Michigan and the weather for the Martian on Sunday does not look all that great either with light rain and they forecast a high of 48 degrees so it could be rather wet and chilly at 7:AM I need to check our calendar to see is other WISHers will be there. I think we have 3-4 living in that area. :upsidedow

Did a very slow easy 2.2 miles last night - :upsidedow

Mary, my Dad's a walker, but I want to get there to quick to have patience for it.

The show was fun last night. It's a rainy day which makes it easier on me as today's a rest day.

Best,
Jennifer

Happy Friday All!

It's a wet day here.

Hi everyone, hope the weekend finds you all relaxing a bit and recharging. We got in around 6:00pm from NY. Brought oldest son up for the accepted student day at school. Drove up last night in the rain, thunder & lightning...
Cold and raw there to day. Met some nice professors. I find it hard to take it serious when so many of the computer labs have X-Box's, maybe it's just me.:lmao:

Denise- that's a great studio- (note to self- straighten up rooms) :goodvibes

Margie- Hope the run goes well, enjoy the event :thumbsup2

Jen- One step at a time eh... ;)

Scott- Hate trials, just when you get all ramped up and everything
is in play, the "other-side" pleads out leaving you, for lack of a better word, unsatisfied. Good Luck
PS. Love DC in the Summer Time

Another Sad Day in Pittsburgh,

This trial is going for sure, Man Act violation.

Blizzard here yesterday, lost power most of the day, lots of snow and wind, Interstates 80 and 25 still closed, will try to get to one of my guys house and feed his dog, tried yesterday 2 hours to go 8 miles, stuck three times in the Jeep. nasty, big drifts

Lynn is making me eat breakfast before I head out to blow the 4' drift out of teh drive. The pups like this weather sorta,

No power = no TM. so maybe today after we get dug out.

Anyone else ready to just say to hell with work and cold weather and international tension and crime and taxes and all the other crap and just escape to somewhere happy?

I wanna feel the warm sun and feel the sweat running down my neck as I put in needed miles in the sun and feel the wind I make with my own motion. I wanna feel the warmth of the hugs and the love of my dear friends my brother and sister athletes. I wanna feel a little wild again and not be politically correct or feel like cattle in the herd. I wanna feel like a free bird soaring over the worlds trouble, just content to be and to seek the next adventure.

But I'll go shower and put on my shirt and tie and head off t o work instead.

Have a super sunday y'all.

Pinch o snow, three hours to clear drive out. That is my work out for the day.

Good Morning Team! As Scott said, we had quite an adventure yesterday - no power from mid morning until 8:30PM. We spend the day preparing for no power overnight - got the camping stove out of the camper in the barn and set it up in the garage, got out extra blankets for the bed, got out candles, filled up the oil in the oil lamps, had the matches out to light candles and oil lamps, found all the flashlights and replaced batteries in those that needed it.

We heated up hot water for hot chocolate on our camp stove, then cooked some soup for dinner on it. We had our books out to read with good flashlights so that we could see. Scott has a crank radio, so we even had tunes! When the power went back on, we ran to flush the toilets and fill up a large water bottle - just in case it went off again. It was an interesting day.

MaryJ, I am with you - as a walker, I am doing good if I can get 4 miles in an hour. Hope you back gets better.

Have a great day everyone.

Scott, Wow! And I was complaining yesterday about wind and rain!

I did 11 miles in just under 1 hr 32 minutes (slightly better than an 8:30 pace). I'm four weeks out from my first half and after today I think I'm really ready now I just wanted to keep training so it will be awesome!

Can't wait for tomorrow's opener! Go Sox!

:stitch: 'Ohana Monday Mixer :stitch:

The mixer starts here...

Variety is the spice of life, so they say. (But don't ask me who they are, although I suspect they work for McCormick. :confused3) With that in mind, this week's mixer question is:

What types of XT do you like to do, and why? What are your old favorites and new discoveries? What kind of XT would you like to try?

Anecdotes and pictures are welcomed. I think we'd really like to hear about the benefits of your XT--physical, mental, social. Does it create a stronger core or more flexibility? Does it help you de-stress? Is it something you enjoy with your kids, partner, friends? It might also be helpful to know how you work XT within your walking/running schedule.

Extra points for XT activities that are unusual or have funny names or rituals. As determined by popular vote. And in case you're wondering, those points have no monetary value whatsoever. (I'll make up other disclaimers as I think of them.)

Good morning Friends!

It was a wild weekend for us. Even after all the snow, the drought is making itself felt in ugly, ugly ways. A power line was downed by the high winds (60 mph) and a wild fire broke out. I don't know if you have read about prarie fires, but they are bad, bad things. You can't see the fire, you can only see the smoke from what they have destroyed boiling up around.

The fire burned at least 800 acres, destroyed two homes and damaged more than 12 other buildings. The town was under a mandatory evacuation because of the serious threat. The winds whipped and spurred the fires to such a point that the firefighters couldn't fight the fire, they could only attempt protect life and property.

During the course of the fire, it burned our farm. Although, we don't live on the farm, we had a tractor, welder, boat, fencing material, fences, Bee hives, two small orchards, etc. We were working toward trying to establish a home on the farm and getting it set for raising calves. The fences are gone, the tree rows are gone, the grass is gone, the bees and hive are gone, the wild game is gone. The only things we have left are the tractor, pole barn, boat, orchard, diesel tanks, because Jon was diligent about cleaning and clearing around those areas. There's no way we could have ever replaced those items!

Now wehave new fencing materials to buy, new fence to build. We need to come up with some more bees. We have to replant the Pecan Orchid. And other things. Right now, it's hard to be out there because there is no grass or trees holding the dirt in place. The wind keeps the sand and the ash blowing non stop.

Ah, well....how was your weekend?

See ya, Connie

That really stinks Connie, wish we lived closer so we could come and help. I'm a country boy so I can fence and plant.

Today was strong pool workout. A solid hour of sprinting in the pool stopping every 10 min for 20 dips at the corner of the pool.

Now it's time to housework.

Connie, OMG, It's too bad we're all not close by; You know we'd all be there if we could. We are here for you though.. :grouphug:

Connie, Glad it was not a total Loss, as Dave said wish we were closer, I could use a good physical work vacation.

Scott in about 8 years you and Lynn can come and help us put our house back together after raising pups and kids. We need to paint, the technology of which is beyond me and fix up a little.

Not allowed to touch tools Panda:hippie:

Connie, I'm glad your okay and like the others have said wish I was closr to help.

As for me, pretty standard cross-training. 1 hr dance rehearsal and 1 hr strength training class.

:grouphug: for Connie - yes, I do wish we were closer and could come help rebuild. I am glad that you did not have the calves yet!

I did get some leg exercises in today - it is like starting over at the beginning, I feel like it will take work to get to where I was before the marathon! When Scott got home we took the dogs out for a loop around the block, the road was only icy and slushy in spots.

Have a great day team!

Good morning Sweet Team!!

Thank you all so muh for your kind words and well wishes. Fence building is cross training, right?? We are very grateful that things weren't much, much worse because for some people, they were There were 5 families who lost their homes. We lost the bees and the wildlife and the fences and trees, but nothing that we can't replace. We do live off the farm...we eat wild game. We were planning to make a large garden out there, but with all the other things going on, we won't be doing that.

The fortunate thing is this....We WERE going to go to the farm that day and work. The wind got up and we changed our minds. We would have been there for about a half hour when the fire went through. As it was, we weren't there to get in the way of the fire, the people who had to evacuate, or the firefighters. We are very grateful for that.

I really need to get my body moving. I feel stuck. I have the OKC marathon relay with my family on the 26th. I am sure I can easily make 10 miles but I feel like such a laggard. Things have been moving so quickly around here, and my time isn't my own so much since Jon is only working about 10 days a month. I guess I better make sure I carve out those sanity saving minutes for a nice long walk.

Thanks again, :grouphug: See ya - Connie

Good Morning Team!

We had beautiful weather on Sunday. It was short lived with rain on Monday & then some winter weather late yesterday & overnight. NO MORE SNOW. I've had enough. Too lazy to shovel. Hoping it melts today.

Connie, Disappointing to hear about your lose but glad you & your family are safe.

Weights (the focus was on tri & biceps, cruel!) & pilates yesterday. Going to the gym at lunch. Not sure what I'll do. Maybe elliptical?

Vicky, 200 miles - Are you trying to punish me? Maybe by August when I'm gearing up for Scotia. I'm a foot slapper/ stomper. When you had the gait analysis done. Did they make any suggestions?

Make it a great day......Sue
