Hakuna Matata - Gobbling up the pavement and thankful we can!

Hi team!

The new job has really taken a ton out of me. I was told to step it up and have been pushing myself really hard. Just so draining and stressful. I want to do a good job but the doubts are creeping in. Just don't want to fail.

Hopefully, a new month, a vacation, and a birthday--30 is when you start to figure it out, right?!-will help me get back on track. At least Nick and I are solid and are moving forward with the wedding stuff and all that jazz. But we've been told we're too slow, we have over a year to do everything but I guess it was supposed to be done yesterday.

Margie - I was allowed a 5K run as long as I went slowly and didn't go over too much concrete. My chiro wanted to see how my knee was holding up. So it was the only running I did all of last week and there was no LR on the weekend. If it was bad, I would have turned around to go back home. She checked it out tonight and said it was much better! And I might not have to go back next week for a treatment. But ... no running until Thursday morning and it has to be another short slow one. And no jumping or bouncing around during my Thursday training either.

Yay for pedicures! Especially after a day of running around. Nothing better than a foot massage and pretty toes!

Hi Team!

Glad to have found you. It's been a busy time here the last several days, so my apologies for not posting sooner.

Beth...hope that icky throat isn't the beginning of something worse. pixiedust:headed your way!

Dave...will be thinking of you and Sally on Wednesday!

Vicky...glad you were able to get out for a 5K over the weekend. Hope your knee continues to improve.

AFM...I'm having a hard time getting motivated to get out and go! It's so strange. Last year at this time, I was so sick and couldn't get out and run, and wanted to so bad! Now, I really have to push myself. I did go out on Saturday and did 3 miles. Could have done more but my knees have been acting up as well as the right IT band, and I didn't want to take any chances.

DH and I leave on Wednesday for WDW. It's our annual trip for Food and Wine Festival. We are meeting another couple there that we met while standing in line waiting to get into the Party for the Senses last year. Love how Disney brings people together in ways you'd never expect!

Count me in for the Turkey Trot! We've done one here officially for the last two years, and I don't see any reason why we won't be doing it again. DH will do it with me, so do I get bonus points?

Prayers and Pixie Dust to all who need it!!

Happy Monday, everyone,

Oh my, I've eaten too much Halloween candy. :crazy2: I also missed my run this morning. Looks like I've got some work ahead of me.

Wishing you all a good week!

Beth- How did the sched go today? Looks like you were packing a bunch in! Sounds like a great group of movies!

Sue- Thanks for the nice welcome! Great job on the Niagara Falls race! Hopefully the organizers will learn from their issues!

Hope- Nice to meet you! I hope everything goes smoothly with the new job!

Margie- Thanks! I thought about calling you Sunday to set up a walk for today but noticed it was a RUN when I looked at my training schedule. Looks like all Mondays are Run Days from here on out! If Mon is the only day that works for you to walk with me I can do some flipping in the order or workouts! Congrats on the pedicure!!! I bet it felt amazing! Where did you go for yours?

Mary- Have a GREAT time at WDW!!! I so wish I could get away right now! I'll just have to look at my past pictures and memories and have it get me through till Jan!

Hello Team! Apologies for the lack of posts, DH and I have been really busy the past couple weeks.

Mary - Have a good trip to WDW! The Food and Wine festival sounds really cool.

Vicky - Hope your knee continues to get better.

Lynn - WTG on the bike rides! We didn't get any trick-or-treaters either, but we live in an apartment complex.

AFM - Waiting for DH to get home, he's covering for a coworker who's on vacation so he's working a bunch of extra hours.

DH and I went to the DL halloween party two weekends ago. We had a really good time and we got a ton of candy at the trick or treat trails. It was neat seeing all the costumes. DH and I went as Wall-E and Eve. DH got a lot of comments on his costume.

Count us in for the Turkey Trot! We're thinking about signing up for a 5k on Thanksgiving, so maybe this will give us the motivation to do it.

Have a good night!
Emily

Hi Team! I can’t believe we’re already in November!

Margie- That’s right- I forgot they had changed the CPR again. I’m glad you found a half close to home! My ankle seems to be ok-hasn’t really been bothering me at all. How did DD’s appt go? Yes, I started my new job today. Yay for pedicures! I’m glad you had time to treat yourself. You deserve it!

Lynn- Thanks! You have snow already!! Great jobs on the bike riding!

Nikki- That’s great you found a place to do your solo runs. Good luck on your test! Great job on your run today!

Beth- I’m glad your running is going well! Congrats on your great run last week! Way to go!

Elizabeth- Great race report on the Myrtle Beach 5K. Great job on the PR in spite of the timing issue!

Gerry- Congrats on signing up for WDW ½.

Scott- Happy Belated birthday! I hope you had a wonderful day!

Vicky- I’m sorry you couldn’t run last week- that sucks. I’m glad boxing went well and that you’re getting cross training in.

Mike- I’m sorry to hear about the loss of your cousin. That is very sad. Are you going to sign up for half fanatics? Thanks for the race reports! I’m glad you finished them both!

Dave & Sally- Congrats on your upcoming nuptials!! That’s great news! I agree with Margie- it doesn’t matter what you have in the house, it’s the company you enjoy that’s important.

Sue- Thanks for the race report!

Hope- Why would anyone think you need to be moving faster with your wedding stuff? I’m sorry to hear you’ve been struggling with work. It takes time to learn something new and adjust to a new position….you’ll get there!

Emily- I’m glad the DL part was fun!

AFM, I’ve been busy as well. I didn’t make it for a run on Fri…BUT, I made it out for a walk on Fri and a walk on Saturday. I started a new job today, which seemed to go pretty well I think. I’m pretty confident I can do the job and will hopefully fit in ok with the ladies I work with. Tomorrow, is going to be crazy busy because I’m helping in the elections office with tomorrow being elections day. I’ve never done it before- should be interesting and busy. Also, I’m less than 2 wks away from my 5K I’m putting on…and I cannot wait for it to be over!!! It has been a lot of work and I’ve enjoyed it well enough, but it is the last thing keeping me tied to my previous employer and I will be so much less stressed when I can finally cut that chord and be done with them once and for all. I made it to the gym for a 3 mile run today….and it kicked my butt! First time running in forever and I have definitely lost a lot of my endurance and strength. 1st mile was 12min pace, and last 2 were 11:32pace. I’m happy with that and will take baby steps to get back to where I was. But I am exhausted now! Oh, and count me and DH in for the turkey trot!

Have a great day tomorrow everyone!

Thanks guys! I'm about to crash, so I'll do personals later.

Nikki ~ I ended up bailing on writing class. As it turns out, the package wasn't my movies (I guess they're still in transit) but a cookbook I'd ordered from Runner's World. My mail carrier gets lazy and doesn't fill out the whole pick-up form...and I'd forgotten about the cookbook, but it looks AMAZING!!! I went for a run in Prospect Park - basically details are on my training blog. But it was a good run overall.

And now I need to go to bed. Professional development all day tomorrow, and I swear that takes more energy than teaching the kidlets!

~Beth

Just a quick drive by to say good night. long day at work so I'm going to ground for the night.

Good morning Team!!!

Turkey Trot News

I have started a list on the first page of this thread with the names of those participating. I would like to know if people would like a medal. If you are in favor of a medal (somewhere in the price range of $5 -$10 including shipping) please let it be known. The price of the medal I am looking at is $1.60 and then shipping.

:surfweb:

Vicky - Sure hope that knee gets better soon. I have to tell you though, that the cure seems worse than the problem!

Sue - Good to hear from you. Sounds like you are busy as ever.

Margie - 200 trick-or-treaters! :scared1: There aren't that many kids in the 3 of local school districts combined, here! BTW, bread is in the mail!

Lynn and Scott - Great job on the bike ride. I guess that has become your go-to exercise, now There are more bike races/rides around here than foot races. I hope I can some day ride my bike again.

Beth - Are you feeling better? I hope you aren't getting sick.

Elizabeth - Don't worry about the Halloween Candy. It's only once a year! Thank goodness!!!!! factoid - Reese's sells 1/3 of all Reese's Peanut Butter cups made during the month of October!

Mary - What fun! Have a great time at the Food and Wine Festival. I have been once and LOVED it!

Emily - No apologies needed! We just miss hearting from you! Glad you enjoyed your halloween party! Pictures of your costumes would be fun!

Regina - Hope today is easier than feared. Good luck with that 5K. Sometimes breaking up is hard to do! Even with an empolyer!!! ;)

Dave and Sally
- Happy wedding day Eve!

AFM - DG10 liked her wedding dress costume so much, she decided against having a blood-like substance poured on it. I put a lot of work into making it because I had to redraw several of the pattern pieces because they didn't fit. We had a great time over the weekend playing with the mules and doing Halloween!

I am back to working out, finally. I have my treadmill in the house. At least now I can walk when I want too, not just when the wind isn't blowing, yada, yada, yada.

See ya - Connie

Good Morning Team!

Vicky – Shoes do make a difference, I only once used a shoe that hurt the knees (back in the day before I had constant knee problems), but I immediately took them back to the store and traded for a different pair.

Sue – Congrats on your PB!

Hope – :grouphug: and pixiedust: for the new job!

Connie – I am getting to enjoy bike rides more than walking (depending on the wind) but will not totally give up walking as the dogs still need their walks! And the stationary bike is more tolerable than the treadmill! I am sure Scott would love the medal, I would not mind paying for one either. Your logo is great!

Elizabeth – :wave2:

Nikki – :wave2:

Dave – Have fun tomorrow!

Margie – I have never worried about my age! I guess that if I ever start feeling my age, or people think I am older than I really am, I may start worrying, but not yet!

Beth – We never have trick or treaters because we live in such a rural area, but the Halloween candy still kept jumping into my cart at the grocery store! Great philosophy – each new day is the beginning of a new year!

Mary – Have fun at WDW, we will be following you in about a week!

Emily – Good to hear from you again!

Regina – Hope the first day on the new job went well yesterday! No snow here now, in fact, it has been a really nice week!

AFM – Never made it very far yesterday, I kept getting side tracked by little things, and soon, Scott was home – so we both took the dogs for a loop around the block. Today I will get in the exercise before I get too sidetracked.

Pixie dust to all who are in need!

Have a great day all!

Good morning team! Went downstairs to the Starbucks in my building for a coffee this morning and noticed everyone there was wearing Santa hats. It's only November 2! I think it's too early!!

Lynn - I've already put about 20 miles onto the shoes so I can't return them :( I have one pair left of a 769 so I'll break those in and rotate between my two pairs of 769 and see if that makes a difference.

Connie - Great Halloween costume for DG! I like the idea of a medal! Glad to hear you've got your TM back - just in time for the cold weather!

Dave - Don't work too hard! Tomorrow is the big day huh?

Regina - Glad to hear your first day went well! Starting a new job is almost like starting your first day at a new school ;) And WTG on your gym workout and 3 miler! You'll be in shape for the Princess in no time at all!

Emily - You've got to post pictures of you and DH! Those sound like awesome costumes!

Mary - Hope you and DH have a wonderful time in WDW! I love going for the Food and Wine Fest! It's such a great atmosphere... and great time to go since the weather is starting to cool down.

Hope - Is 30 suppose to be when you figure it all out? I guess I'll be 29 f-o-r-e-v-e-r! Sorry to hear about all the stress from your new job. Have you gotten any feedback from your manager so far?

Beth - Love your movie selection! I haven't had a chance to watch Earth before but it's on my list :)

Sue - Great RR! Sorry to hear that the buses were late in getting to the start. What a mess - especially since people had to skip bag check and a last minute bathroom break. I had a co-worker who did the half as well... he said it was all flat or downhill. I might have to give that one a try one day but he did say that you had to drive out to do packet pick up the day before (so two trips to Niagara?)

I'm debating on tights vs. capris. If I get the capris, I won't be able to wear them in a couple of weeks. And yeah everything here is so much more expensive :(

Have a great day everyone! :wave2:

Nice day here so Lynn was kind enough to bring my bicycle to me so I can ride home. Sunny and kinda warm about 60F, and right now the wind is kinda at my back.

Hiya Kids!

Sunny but chilly here today, had to scrape the car windows this morning!

Dave and Sally~ Congratulations to you both on starting your new life together! We can't wait to meet you both in January!

Mary~ have fun at WDW, get the cheese plate at Ireland, very tasty!

Regina~ glad you got your new job!

Margie~ Thinking about signing up for the half that you have listed in Kalamazoo, have you done it before?

AFM~ I ran four miles yesterday, but my training has fallen by the wayside. Just when I get my ducks in a row, they wander off! On Thursday, my Mom when to an eyedoctor because her vision suddenly worsened. He didn't like what he saw, so we had to visit a retina surgeon on Friday. She has WET AMD, which is macular degeneration in both eyes. Now she has to receive injections into her eyes on a regular basis for awhile, or her vision will get worse. The doctor says over a million people have it and it's age related. No more driving for her now.
One of my Nephews annouced his engagement this week and is getting married on Dec 18th in Washington state. With the short notice and high airfares, we probably won't be able to attend. :sad1:
I'm in for the TT and all for another medal! I'll be running a race on Thanksgiving day so I'll probably count that.
We got tons of candy while tirck or treating. We went down our road to the police station where they had a nice set up for the kids. Robert went as Ben 10, an alien bad guy fighter.
Gonna pick up Toy Story 3 today and a new camera to replace the one I lost at WDW two weeks ago.

Be back here soon, Mike

Regina- Thanks for the encouragement! I feel like I did pretty awesome on my test!!! Maybe only missed 4 of the 55 questions!! Great job on getting out there and logging the miles this weekend even if it wasn't the running you wanted to do.

Beth- Sorry it wasn't the movies but sounds like a good surprise instead!

Connie- I would LOVE a medal!!! How awesome! Didn't even think about that!

Scott- I got out this AM right as the polls opened! I was voter number 3!

Lynn- I know what you mean about side tracked! If I don't get my workouts done in the morning there is a 50% chance they won't get done! I'm horrible about it!

Vicky- Santa Hats in November!! I think I would have fainted.....or at least pinched my self to see if I was dreaming! I also vote tights!

Scott- I hope you enjoy your bike ride home! What a nice wife you have!!

Mike- I almost had to scrape the car today but remembered to start it 10 minutes before I left! For flights you can try to keep an eye out on kayak.com. It searches most major airlines as well as discount sites (travelocity, expedia..). Love Ben 10!!! Some of the kids I sit for/try to call my own love him!

Margie- Did you have fun at soccer practice??? lol I hope all is well with you! Looks like I'll be running with Olivia on Thursday. I have a walk planned for Friday if your available and also on Saturday! Sorry I haven't gotten to your e-mail yet! I'll try to reply tonight!

AFM- I did a great job on my test today as well as my practical! I had to teach our instructor how to walk with parallel bars, and crutches for the "first time".
My order from Sierra Trading post came in and I LOVE everything! My new skirt is great, has long pants under it AND they are actually LONG enough for me!!! (I'm 5'10 without shoes!) The shirt is nice and has the thumb slots! I can't wait to try them out! Looks like my next workout won't be until Thursday though! It is supposed to be tomorrow but with time constraints and the need to get my monthly allergy shots I just can't get it in!

My legs are kind of tight today after my run yesterday! I have been stretching my calfs as well as my shins throughout the day. I asked the Physical Therapist at work why my shins were feeling like rocks during my run and he gave me some good strengthening exercises, as well as a throughout explanation of what was going on anatomically.

Stay healthy everyone!!

Hi all!

The movies came today! :) The package was leaning up against my apartment door (inside the building) when I got home! :)

Professional development was generally boring ~ as it's wont to be ~ BUT the day was in-all a great boost to my confidence/ego! My school has 7 different sites (in most we share space with at least one other school). I used to work at one until last year. I haven't seen most of those people for a while - other than a few times a year, we're never all together. To a person they were all variations of "OH. MY. GOD!!! You look amazing!! What are you doing???" Really made me feel good. I've probably actually lost more than 27 pounds since I saw them last...but I haven't been really watching it since then...that just started in April.

Then I had to go vote and that took a while. NY *just* entered the 21st century and got rid of those dinosaur-age pull-lever machines (I had to be instructed how to use them since the last time I'd seen one before I moved here was when I was NINE and stood outside the one my mom was in as she voted - her votes are private, even from her kids...I remember standing outside one at 4, my little arm stuck through the curtain to hold onto her pants.)...but the poll workers are stuck in the stone age. The woman checking us in for my district was slow anyway, but the woman 3 in front who'd messed up her ballot really threw her for a loop. I finally got checked in...filled in my circles...and gave the guy who was to be helping the people at the scanners a lesson in how they worked. Oy vey.

Got home and had to fight with myself NOT to go running. Today's a cross-training day. John and Jenny are VERY clear in Marathoning for Mortals (aka my bible for now) that it's not really cool to add in extra runs...that you should stick to the plan. I wanted to run sooooooo bad. But I contented myself with doing Jillian Michaels' Yoga Meltdown level 1. It's a little more active than Bob's (which I love)...and it's only 30 minutes and since it was already after 5 I didn't want to push my workout much beyond that point so I could eat and let the food digest before bed.

I am going to be "bad" tomorrow night and go to the fun run for Front Runners. It's Women's Night and I got peer pressured into going. I'll just be walking though, so it won't be THAT bad.

Oh...and apparently the throat thing was either irritation from advair (I sometimes forget to swish afterwards) or sleeping with my mouth open. I'm feeling fine! Thanks for the pixie dust!!

Hugs all around!!

~beth

Good morning, Team!
