Hakuna Matata - Gobbling up the pavement and thankful we can!

I just wanted to mention a deadline for WISH racing team Hats and Visors.
I need the minimum numbers to place the order so people can have their Headweats before the January Races. If you are on the edge about getting one, now is the time - another order won't be done for another year.
Go to the thread, read the first post and go to the order form to place your order.

A Bit Early...

Sunday, November 7th

Happy – Happy 41st Birthday, Elizabeth! :cake:

party:party:party:

Wishing you joy, laughter and lots of love.

Good Morning Team!

Vicky – Great looking cake!

Mike – Good luck on your race this weekend!

Sue – Hope you got your run in yesterday!

Dave – Glad you had a good day!

Margie – You have a great weekend also! Scott has said we would watch Toy Story 3 over the weekend also.

Beth – Have fun volunteering this weekend!

AFM – Again just a short walk, just as I was getting ready to leave, Scott called and invited me to join him on a quick trip to Denver - he was going for work - and dinner out on the way home - could not decline that offer, so I quickly took dogs around the block. Today is supposed to be really nice, high 65, mild wind, so we are planning a bike ride after Scott gets off work, I will get dogs for a walk this morning - really need to get back to exercise before lunch, when I put it off until after lunch, it seems that something interfers.

Pixie dust to all who are in need!

Have a great weekend all!

Happy Friday everyone! It's a rainy today but nevertheless, I'm still looking forward to the weekend! Don't forget to set your clocks back an hour on Sunday. An extra hour of sleep will be nice!

Lynn - Have fun in Denver! Last minute trips are always fun!

Elizabeth - Happy birthday! Hope you're having a fantastic day :)

Margie - The cake class was fun! I might think about taking another one next year after February. I think I should probably stop racing for a bit to give my body a break. Sorry to hear you didn't get to the gym! Maybe sneak in a couple of quick walks during the day to today or my favourite is doing 30 seconds of jumping jacks here and there. Hope you have a relaxing weekend!

Sue - Yes, I booked them after Thanksgiving! I believe it was just under $374 out of Pearson. I would have loved to save more and fly out of Buffalo but I don't think it would be worth it for just me, especially since I don't have access to my own car. Hope you like the yoga class as much as the pilates class. Sucks that it was cancelled.

Mary - Have fun at V&A! It's an amazing restaurant! I'll just warn you to take a taxi or have a designated driver if you plan on doing the wine pairing. It is a lot of alcohol. I love their butter!

AFM - Worked out at the gym last night for about an hour. I'm still limited to what I can do because my chiro wants to make sure my knee heals. So we did lots of upper body and core work. I also walked backwards on the treadmill which was really awkward.

This weekend, I'm going to try the yoga class again! I bought a 5 class pass so I figure by the end of it, I'll know whether I like it or not. And on Sunday, I'm going to meet up with a friend who's going to give me a quick lesson on using an SLR. I know the basics and am pretty good with composition but am not too familiar with f stops etc. All the stuff I need to give my pictures more personality.

Good Friday Morning Team!

Elizabeth, Happy Birthday! Any thing exciting planned?

Mike, Have a great race on the weekend.

Vicky, Did you get a new camera? DH has the Nikon 5000. He is also getting use to all the features/ modes etc. That is what's so great about digital. You can snap away. Take as many pictures as you want & only print the really good ones.

Margie, We saw TS3 in the theatre. I thought it was the best one. Are you going to have a chance to watch it this weekend?

AFM, I was able to get last night's run done without any rain.
We are going to see Wicked on Sun. so I need to change up my back to back weekend runs. Doing 16 on Sat with 8 on Sun.

Happy training everyone. Have a great weekend.........Sue

Sally and I did an hour walk in the mall since the weather outside was frightful. It's getting to cold to early this year, I sure hope it's not an omen that DisneyWorld will be frigid again like last January. Tomorrow is scheduled to be 24 degrees, that's more like a Jan/Feb day here.

Have a magical day guys.

Thanks Margie!

Technically I'm doing Front Runners Pasta Dinner, Front Runners Pancake Breakfast, and the Mile 24 Water Station. :) But it's all good!

Did a good yoga workout this morning - BOTH levels of Jillian's Yoga Meltdown. Woohoo! I've been confused all day by my calorie count on MFP though since my exercise calories went in so early. Hee! More room for pasta tonight!!!

~Beth

We did get a bike ride in 73 degrees and sunny, same weather for the next couple o days....yeah.

Hi team! Just a quick note to say hello to everyone! Finished my yoga class, had lunch and have one more appointment before I head home and try a 5K run. My chiro said I can only do a 5K and maybe a 10K tomorrow. Oh well - I'm a little bummed but better to have a working knee in January right?

Have a great day everyone!

Margie...It's a second trip in a short amount of time. DH and I came down to WDW last month for a quick weekend to do the Half Marathon Relay. We are here now for F&WF. This is our seventh year to come down for Food & Wine. It's really DH's favorite time to come, but I would gladly skip a year to come in December once and see all the Christmas decorations. However, today we went into the MK and some of the Christmas decor is up. Add to that the fact that they were playing Christmas music on Main St. and the cold weather, and it kind of felt like Christmas!

Vicky...we did end up taking a cab back from Victoria and Albert's. I think I had more to drink that night than I've ever had in one night....including trips to F&W. We are doing the Party for the Senses tonight and will rely on Disney transportation!

A Belated Congratulations to Dave and Sally!!!! May you live happily ever after!:lovestruc

Sorry for my tardiness! No real excuse here just was absent :-)

Margie- I had a sad Thursday....My sister didn't have to work so no running with Olivia! I did a nice one on my own and JUST barely missed the rain! I did get to see her Thurs evening though! We watched Toy Story 3 together! That little girl will Love Disney if I have anything to do with it! I was looking around at different races in the area. I'd love to do the Jingle Bell one! There are also a few ON thanksgiving if your plans will allow for that at all!

Beth- I hope all of the Marathon events have gone smoothly! Have a FAB time tomorrow!!! Keep all of the runners motivated at your water stop! I know you'll be great!

Vicky- I LOVED your cake! how cute and SO much fun!! I only wish I had the patience for that....and the control to not eat the cake/frosting before I was done with the masterpiece!!! :rotfl:

Walking on the treadmill backwards is a great exercise for recouping from knee injuries! It helps to decrease the stress on the quads (front of thigh) and increase the strength of the hamstrings (back of thigh). Feels awkward but is better than no walking at all! I hope that knee is healing quickly!

We have an SLR! It s a Nikon D90. My hubby is more into the photos and such....I mainly stay on auto but still turn out with GREAT pictures! Enjoy your lesson!

Sue- Let me know how Wicked is! It is coming to the university near me and there are tickets still available, however they are like $75 so I'm a bit hesitant!

Mary- You have to tell me all about Victoria and Albert's!!! I want to eat there so bad but it is a little out of budget for me at the moment!! Also I don't know If I could get DH dressed up enough to get in!

AFM- I've gotten in some pretty good workouts! Did a Run Walk on Thrusday for 20 minutes (sore calfs/shins after), a 20 minute walk on Friday and today I did my "long" walk run! I went out for 50 minutes!

My first half of today's workout was a lot slower than normal because I went with the "Zoo" (My sister, her 3 month old, and 2 rat terriers!) When we turned around and went back by the house I drooped off my sister (who is a slower walker due to just having her baby) and baby Olivia and took the dogs for the second part! We really picked up the pace and added in a lot more running!

It was good! I was really tired about 2 hours after my workout. I think it was due to not getting in enough food after the workout and not having good hydration. Feeling good now! I'm happy that my shins/calfs are feeling ok!

I hope everyone has a SUPER DUPER weekend! Take care!

Only 63 days left until the WDW 1/2!!!! I"m so Excited!!!!!

Morning all!

So far marathon festivities are going well! The basic result so far is I've decided I'm going to enter the lottery for next year's marathon!!! If I don't get in, I'll look at charities, but I know I won't be able to raise $3000 or more, so that may not be an option.

Pasta dinner was good. I ate like I was running the marathon. And discovered that I do NOT need to carbo load because my body will then decide to carbo UNload. And it's not pretty. Still, it was fun while I was there. I ended up doing "kid duty" on stage - we have several kids whose two dads (most, including 2 sets of multiples) or two moms (one) brought them (perfectly fine), and they started playing on the raised stage where they were playing on wheeled "scooter squares" - those things that you can sit on and scoot around. I did edge patrol to prevent injuries. One of the dads I hadn't met yet introduced himself to me and asked who I nannied for. Nope, I'm a Front Runner. LOL. It was good times!

Pancake breakfast was fun. Brought back memories of all the pancake dinners I was in charge of when I did youth ministry.

Yesterday wasn't my greatest run for a few reasons. I was still blech from the after-effects of the Front Runners pasta party, my butt and upper hamstrings were very much not happy with me from doing Yoga Meltdown level 2 the day before, and at one point I pushed too hard to prove I *am* a runner to a guy who wasn't even in my view anymore. Long story, but basically as he and his friends were passing me (as I transitioned from a run interval to a walk interval), the comment "Yeah, all these people think 'It's marathon weekend! I should go running!'" was made to his friends. I have no knowledge that it was directed towards me, but I took it personally. So I pushed...and burned out what was left in my legs and had to walk for a bit more of my run than I'd planned during the second half. And then there was just lots of dodging groups taking pictures all around the marathon signage. You'd think runners would be more aware of not blocking paths of others running, but...no. Still, I did it, and I'm proud that I didn't just quit. It was a learning experience!

Now I'm about to get dressed and head up to Mile 24 of the NYC Marathon where I'll be working the water station all day!!!! I'll do a volunteer report when I get in!!

Have a great day everyone!!

~beth

What a day yesterday, 72 degrees and no wind, got in a 18 mile plus bike ride, should be a nice one again today. Gotta get out and take advantage.

Thanks for the birthday wishes, everyone! It's been a great day shared with family–the best present to have.

Elizabeth

I'm home and trying to get warm now! Man, it was chilly in the shade and with all that liquid around! But OMG it was soooooo fun!! And I am totally inspired! I might actually forego a trip next school year and just use my summer school tuition to pay my charity donation to run with a charity if I don't get into NYC via the lottery next year!!! Seriously ~ everyone from the first wheelchair participants, to being less than three feet from the top three women and the top three men (I seriously think Meb threw sweat on me), to the latter people walking and limping to the Mile 24 station but continuing to push through so completely inspired me to REALLY want to do it!!!!!

I learned a lot about technique for grabbing cups without taking off the volunteer's arm, how NOT to go through a water station (try to cut on the inside right by the water/gatorade when you're not grabbing any...and then look disgustedly at the runners who actually ARE), to just what goes into making a fluid station work (OMG my left arm is going to be soooooo sore for a couple of days from being extended for so long!!!). And overall I had a GREAT time! I'll do it again...but I really want to run the thing!!!!

I did see the Chilean miner go by. I couldn't tell that he was limping at the time. And Subway Jared (who is taller than I anticipated). He looked really exhausted. Looking through the Runners World list of celebs, I'm trying to remember if I saw any of them...and honestly couldn't tell you. Once the first non-elites started, it was a steady stream of people and I barely noticed teammates from Front Runners much less other celebs on the course. It's kind of cool to think I might have given some of them Gatorade though! Oh yeah...if I never see yellow gatorade again, it'll be too soon!!! LOL.

I saw one woman go down - it looked like she just got tangled up in her feet. She got up, and I think continues on past the Aid Station. And one guy went by with his hand on his chest - he looked like he wasn't feeling great, but he kept going. I've found out that a running club teammate saved a guy at the finish area - just dropped and started CPR and mouth-to-mouth. I think she came by around the same time that other guy did, or maybe a little after, so I wonder if it was the same guy.

But all it all, it was an AMAZING day, and I'm so glad I participated!! No water station t-shirt (a bunch of HS kids came to volunteer with their teacher, and they pretty much took all the t-shirts), but I've got my course volunter lanyard, my NYC Marathon "poncho" (in quotes because it has sleeves, and I never saw a poncho with sleeves) and my memories. Oh, and my pictures ~ here if you're interested!

Good times!!!!

~beth

Good morning,Team!

Happy Belated Birthday, Elizabeth. A relaxing day spent with the family is a REAL treat in this busy world we live in. Congratulations.

Beth - Sounds like you enjoyed your day, too!

Nikki - Great job on the workouts! You will be awesome at WDW. Just remember, it could just as easily be too cold as too hot. We all found that out last year!

Dave and Sally - Continued happy honey moon!

Margie - How was the scrapbooking weekend?

Sue - Tell us about Wicked!

Vickie - Great cake. How's the knee?

Lynn and Scott - I hope you enjoyed your day out. Glad the weather is co-operating with your bike riding! It's been so windy here.

AFM - I actually started P90X on Friday. I was sore by Friday night. But, it's not as bad as I had feared. You can actually take it slow! Saturday I slept. I don't mean I took a nap, I mean I got up for coffee went back to bed, got up for lunch, took a shower and took a nap. Finally, I got up from my nap, made dinner and went to bed. Sometimes, I just have to do that. Been sleeping around the clock like that from time to time since I was a teenager. :confused3 Yesterday, I didn't sleep as much, but I still thought about it! I did sleep for 11 hours last night!

See ya - Connie

Cut the ride short yesterday, wind to 40 MPH plus threatening clouds and I was having a tire issue, was riding my old bike I rebuilt and bought cheep tires, my bad.

Today is the day we are starting to move my office, so in the immortal words of Max Klinger and Radar O'Riley "WE ARE BUGGING OUT".....
