Hakuna Matata, Get fit in June!

Hi y'all.

The heat and humidity is here today in full effect, but that's ok because I'm in my element when it's blistery hot. I have my best PRs on really hot humid days. Although I do enjoy some laps in the pool after a workout in the heat.

A hardy "Hell Yeah" to the brave Iranian people rioting in the streets to protest being screwed in the election to oust that dictator.

Have a super weekend.

Nite Nite

Tired Panda:hippie:

Scott, Thanks!

Dave, I hear you about the heat. Houston's been horribly hot

I did 3 miles yesterday at pace (7:40) and then did a 9 mile long run today at just under 80 minutes (about an 8:45 pace).

Best,
Jennifer

Happy Father's Day to all the dads on our team! :goodvibes Hope you guys are having an extra special day :)

I woke up late this morning and didn't get out for my run until after 11AM. It was humid! I was able to manage a decent pace but I think I could have hydrated a lot better. My "sweatproof" sunscreen totally didn't last. I came home and noticed it was melting off :headache: I didn't burn but I didn't feel very good about it either. Went over to DF's house to have a Father's Day lunch. He BBQ'd ribs and Wagyu beef steaks - yummy!! He made a few for me that were dry rub without any sugar.

Has anyone here checked out the One Hundred Pushups site? A coworker told me about it so I'm going to give it a try. I did the initial test last night and managed 30 before my arms gave out. Although .. DF said I wasn't doing them properly - I said the same thing about his pushups too.

Dave - I'm loving the heat too but more so just to sit out on the patio and look cute! That's pretty cool that you're able to PR in the hot weather! I wish I had a pool or a friend with a pool :goodvibes

Jennifer - Do you get out first thing in the morning to run or later in the evening? Great pace for both of your runs! I can only imagine what will happen once you get a running coach! Keep us posted on that!

Margie - No races in the near future. I'm mailing in a registration for a 15K race at the end of August. I think Kim, Mike and DS are signed up for that one.

Teresa - The massage was too short. I opted for a 30 minute and at the end I was wishing it were longer. Good job on the hill workout! Those are definitely not my favourite! How did your 6 miler go?

Jack - The hurricane briefing sounds very comprehensive but I guess they have to be when you're dealing with so many people. Are evacuations always forced - as in you have to leave? Just curious - weather wise, Toronto is pretty boring ...

Scott - I get the cracking sound too in my legs. My PT mentioned that those sounds aren't a big deal as long as they don't hurt. I just always feel funny about them because I get people looking over at me. Good job on your PT test!! Hope you and Lynn have a blast on your camping trip this weekend!!

Sue/Kim - How's the Goofy training coming along?

Have a great Sunday everyone!! :wave2:

Happy Father's Day!

To all our Daddies & those who have Daddies!
We thank you for the gift of time that you so generously give your children!

Hope your Day is very-very Special :cloud9:

Wedding and camping was fun, got home and went kayaking. then storms haev been rolling through. I need another weekend.....now....

Good Evening Team!

Happy Fathers Day to all the Dad's here.

As Scott said, we had fun at the wedding and camping. We did quite a bit of walking at Saratoga. The dogs had a great time also.

Have a great evening.

The Mixer starts here on the 'Ohana thread....

:stitch:'Ohana Monday Mixer :stitch:

I asked a variation of this on team thread, but it makes for a good general prompt. Lots of us are finalizing our late summer/fall/early 2010 race schedules and/or in training for them. So let's talk events. Two questions:

  1. What event have you committed to that you're most looking forward to, Disney marathon weekend excluded? And
  2. What are you most looking forward to about Disney marathon weekend, if you are attending? (With sympathy :grouphug: to those who are not.)

At work now, did a 5K this morn....ate/drank a really good protein shake for breakfast. Better get after it, after all it is monday morn....

Have a great one...

Good Morning Team!

Dogs and I got in our 3 mile walk this morning, even slower than usual! This is getting really old! We have a 5K race coming up this weekend (Scott may have signed up for the 10K, but I thought I'd better stick to the 5K), I am hoping to at least maintain a 16m/m pace. Of course, it will help that I will have eaten and had my morning Motrin before the race, I am now doing my walks before breakfast, which slows me down.

Have a great day everyone!

Vicky, I've been running at night due to my current schedule. Hopefully when things settle down again a little in the fall, I will move it to the morning again.

Yesterday, I got in 3.1 miles in 23 minutes.

Best,
Jennifer

Got in a 5K this morn, jammed at work TTFN

It's a beautiful Tuesday morning!

Had an action packed weekend away. We went to a country inn & spa for a friend's birthday celebration. WOW! While we were there DH & I got out for a beautiful Sunday morning run over gentle rolling hill farmland. What a nice treat from concrete & asphalt. Would have loved more time here to enjoy the spa, pool etc.

Kim, Saw your other thread about stressing out over goofy. Take a deep breath & relax. There are many weeks of training still to come. I'm the queen of race anxiety!;) Once every couple of weeks when I'm out running I question myself & what have I gotten myself into. My 2 cents is to spend the next couple of months on weight loss, cross training & stretching. Give your heel time to heal so when September starts you are injury free & ready to go.

Have a great day everyone. Happy training.......Sue

Good Morning Team!

Sue - that sounds like great advise for all of us!

Had a better walk this morning, knee did not hurt as much as it has, and I actually had negative splits - 17:something/16:something/15:45 for my 3 miles! A few times, I was actually walking a 14:30 pace for at least a few minutes! It is the first time I actually broke the 16:30 pace in quite some time. There is hope at the end of the tunnel:woohoo:

Have a great day everyone!

Was able to get some time down stairs today; 5.26 miles 50 min on the elliptical. Office is quiet today so I gotta do while I can. :lmao:This rainy weather is horrible  were is the sun??

Thanks Sue!!!!

Hey team how is everyone doing?

I am over my self pity from yesterday and ready to get'r dun. I have to learn to let those stonkers go and prepare myself for a better walk the next day.

Kim

Good Morning Team!

Already hot & humid out there. Waiting for the ac to kick in at work so I'm enjoying a nice hot cup of tea & a little :surfweb: time.

Kim Glad to see you are off the ledge. We've all been there.

Lynn Got to love neg. spilts. Nice job!

Hot running last night. Really appreciated the shaded areas.
On the treadmill at lunch today.

Got to run to a meeting. Make it a good one...........Sue

Remember drink your water!

Morning team! Not much of import to report today but I thought I'd drop by and see how everyone is doing. It's looking like it's going to be a hot and humid day so I'll have to wait until after dinner before going out for my run.

The "diet" and extra training sessions are going well. I've lost some weight and gone down in clothing size! I'm trying to wait a little longer before buying more new clothes but I have to say that shopping is lot more fun now!

I have a dentist appointment tonight. Ugh! I'm keeping my fingers crossed for no cavities!

Anyway, I'll check back in later! Have a great day everyone :wave2:

Good morning Everyone!

Sorry to be MIA, I have kept up with the thread, just haven't posted really.

My ankle is pretty bad. I wear a brace pretty much full time. So, I haven't been getting much exercise in. I am beginning to think I should change my name to Calamity Jane! When I am more able to tolerate longer periods without the splint, I am headig to the nearby lake for swimming 3X per week. I will be doing stretching and other stuff the other days. Like Kim, I am trying to follow Sue's advice.

I have weight to lose too, Kim. But if I am carrying extra weight around Disney, AT LEAST I will be AT Disney! We CAn do this!
