Hakuna Matata, Get fit in June!

Yes Denise Happy Birthday. Miranda does good work.

I had a sore achillies last night after the 5 miles on the hills and then pushing the mower for 2 hours. But this morning it feels fine. When you have scar tissue in your achillies like I do you have to keep it broke up and pushing the mower is great for that. By the end of summer it will be feeling really good.

Kimmer if your pain in at the bottom of your heel and extending to the arch that is probably PF and not your achillies, the stretching, tennis ball rolling and the ice bottle will help a lot.

I'm off to the gym for a 5 mile training walk and then pool fun since the humidity is off the charts.

Have an awesome day y'all.

Thanks Dave, I have been searching the internet for info and of course it is all different.

So what do I do? Ice, Stretch throughout the day? Or just after a walk? I am so confused.....

Morning everyone! It's a nice and sunny day here! Too nice to be inside but what can you do :)

Denise - Happy Birthday! That is a fantastic cake! It's almost too pretty to eat :)

Teresa - Good job on the 5 miler!

Sue - How was the yoga class?

Margie - Hope the rain has let up and you're getting some sunny weather. How's DD doing?

Jack - The grad party sounds fun! Congrats to your DS! You must be very proud of him!

Connie - Sounds like a fun weekend! How old are your grandkids?

Lynn - How's your knee? Is it getting better with your weight routine?

Eva - Did you start your new job yet?

Dave - 2 hours on the mower? Sounds like you have a big property!

Kim - Don't have any experience with heel pain but just wanted to send over some :wizard: and hope that you feel better soon

Anyway, that's all for me! Will run a 3 miler when I get home tonight. Have a great day everyone!

Thanks Vicky!!!!

I can't remember are you and Nathan doing the full in Jan or 1/2????

Vicky this is southern Kentucky all the houses have big yards. One of the advantages of living in the south. There are more people in Toronto than there are in my whole state.

Kimmer, ok game plan here. Tonight when you get home get in your hot tub and let the jet of water play up and down your foot like a massage action, do that as long as you want to. Do both feet and also let the jet massage your calves and ITbands, (sides of your thighs). Then stretch your calves good while you are in the hot water. When you get out get a big bottle of water and go sit down place your foot on an ice pack or bag of frozen veggies. Do 10 min on and 10 min off then another 10 min. Drink your water and before you get up work your foot up and down and back and forth to loosen it up. Don't just up right after the ice while your foot is cold and tight. Then stay off your foot as much as possible for the rest of the evening.

It was raining today so I did a good hour and a half of pool fun.

Dave - Yeah, nobody in the city has a really big yard - unless they have a really big bank account. You have to head outside of the city to get houses with big yards. Do you have a riding mower?

Kim - Yup, we're doing the 1/2. I'm shooting for the full in 2011. I thought I would have been ready by now but I'm still getting comfortable with the 1/2 distance.

Yes I have a riding mower but the last 2 years I've been using a push mower to get in an extra workout. When you put together a hard workout then a 2 hour mower workut you have a good long training day without having to do the miles, it's the eqivilent of a 16 mile workout.

I've started combine workouts and chores like that to prolong the training effect. 5 miles and then doing the marketing and then the floors makes another good long workout.

Thanks Dave,

Vicky we will have to again try for dinner at Scotia Expo or even sooner if you guys are around. Have you decided about A Mid Summer Nights run? Mike and I are in the 15K walk now but Kevin is still doing the 30K run

Dave - That's quite a workout!! You are a better person than I! If I had a big yard (well, and if DH didn't do the mowing *giggle*) I'd definitely be using the riding mower!

Hi everyone! Just dropping in for a quick "HI!". I got in 2.5 miles this morning - but it's a busy day...running, work, swim lessons for my son, and then cleaning up the clutter around the house tonight. I need to go to bed early tonight! I'm definitely not getting to bed early enough...I blame DIS! ;)

Have a great Tuesday everyone!

Kim - Yeah! Dinner sounds like fun! I will probably register for Midsummer Night's next month. I'll do the 15K run. I'm not too familiar with the Beaches area but will ask people at work to see if there are any good places.

Dave - 16 miles - That is quite the workout! :) I like your idea of combining workouts and chores. Maybe squats while emptying the dryer or doing mountain climbers or the Spiderman crawl with dust clothes on your hands and feet!

Another quick post before I leave work for the day.

Denise, Happy Birthday! What a great cake.

Vicky, Yoga was good. Have only gone about 3 times. Different instructor tonight & thought she was great. Really needed a good hammie stretch. I'm having a hard time coordinating pilates/ yoga/ weights with the running portion of the training program without burning myself out.

Weather looks good tonight for running outside. Will probably be the TM for Wed/Thurs.

Have a great evening team......Sue

Happy Tuesday every one!
Hope all is well ~

Happy Birthday Denise

A boy from my son's class was named the "Fastest Kid in the United States"
he missed his graduation to compete in the Nationals in Illinois and crushed it with a
4:02.70 Mile!

He and his teammates were handed their diplomas at the Honor Society night, but it wasn't the same.

OMG finally some to catch Jennifer :goodvibes

Summer is here :banana::banana:
I was able to get downstairs at work for 50 min. 5.6 miles on the Elliptical today at work, need to work on scheduling. :rotfl:

Jack

Yes belated BD wishes to Denise.

Jack when you get the scheduling thing figured out let me know.... my ADD doesn't help either oh a shinny penny......

Physical tomorrow morn and PT test on Friday, Camping the weekend as we travel to a wedding.

Lynn has been working hard on getting the camper together.

Well better get after it.

Good morning Everyone!

This will be a quick flyby! I have to get the house under control post grandkids (GS12, GD11, GD8). I have been running in different directions this week. I had to go to the accountant and get the taxes in order. Then yesterday, had to run a friend to the hospital (50 miles away) for a procedure and the house is suffering for it!

I have high ankle sprain and that means I have once again stretched the tendon all out. I have to rethink my training plans....AGAIN!

Happy Belated Birthday, Denise.

I guess I better get rolling before I lose my enthusiasm......what enthusiasm?? :upsidedow

See ya, Connie

Hi everyone! Did a relaxed 3 miler last night - felt a little tickle in my lower back last night. I think it's from doing deadlifts in the gym on Monday night. My PT did warn me that I might feel a little fatigued or sore afterward.

This morning, I put on a skirt that I had bought a couple of weeks ago and it feels little loose. So I guess it's going back to the store tonight. Unfortunately, it left me scrambling a little bit because a lot of my stuff was still in the laundry and hadn't been ironed yet.

Scott - Good luck with the tests! Camping sounds like fun! I hope the weather cooperates for you and Lynn :)

Jack - I laughed when I read your post! But that is a really fast time!

Sue - I find the scheduling a bit tricky too and I don't even do as many miles as you. I'm always impressed you can fit all the running and cross training. I started waking up "early" to do yoga or will do a little bit as a cool down after running.

That's all for me! Take care everyone :wave2:

Hi Team!

We are expecting rain later today. Going to head to the gym at lunch for a little TM work. (my favourite )

Vicky,Work really interferes with training ;)

Connie,Pixie dust for your ankle.

Make it a great day everyone...........Sue

Good Morning Team!

I see that my post of yesterday did not make it - I got the "you have successfully posted" message, but then the system thru me out, so I never got to check to see if it really did post - I now see that it didn't. Of course, I cannot remember what I posted so here goes -

Happy belated Birthday Denise, nice cake.

Knee is still bothering me, but I did not get my weight routine in while I was in CA, so I have just started that again. I did get one in on Monday, and will get one in later today. I have been getting in my 3 mile walks daily. I am now walking before breakfast, which is always more difficult for me, but it beats the heat.

Connie - take care of that ankle!

Have a great day all!

Good morning y'all.

I had a nice hot humid training walk this morning, it was strong and about 5 to 6 miles. Time was 1:06 and change but didn't clock the distance. The heat is on us with a vengence from now till about the end of Sept.

Lynn I hope you knee starts feeling better. You have had enough fun with that.

Connie how is the ankle?

Have an awesome day y'all.

Hi all!

Just got back from a 3 day trip with six of my girlfriends. This is the fourth year that we have done this. We all enjoy knitting as a hobbyl, so we rent a cabin at a local park and have our very own "knit camp." We knit, eat, and laugh for the entire time! Four of us did get out yesterday for a one mile hike and it was great!

It was really hot here by the time I got home, so I think my run will have to wait until tomorrow. However, I am happy to report that I picked the first zuchinni and yellow squash of the season from my garden this afternoon! Yum!!:)
