Hakuna Matata - Fall-o our training in September

Just checking in, back from vacation~ and into the Salt Mine.
We had a great time at WDW and the cruise was outstanding. Need to increase workouts to make up for the carb/ Hops and Barley intake. 3.8 miles 35 min.

Good Morning;

Mark and I have been walking but not getting enough of a workout so I charged my shuffle and we went out for 4 power miles last night. Well 1 warm up and 3 fast. What a difference it made.

I normally don’t go out on Monday because I start early (7am)- but it will be one of those weeks where one of us has something to do at night so we’d better get some miles in when we can. I bought a dance DVD so I may do that tonight while he’s busy. I have bee at my house tomorrow so I have to spruce up the sewing room tonight. Again, I’ll be busy tomorrow night so he may go out alone. I won’t go out alone – it’s just too risky.

It’s 66 days till Disney so I need to get my legs in shape for all that walking and of course fitting in my shorts! Ahh

Have a good one!

Hi all,

Sorry I disappeared. I got a new toy. It's an iPhone. It's very distracting.

Anyway 7.5 miles in 1 hour on Sunday. 30 minutes strength training yesterday and 9.25 miles in 75 minutes today.

Best,
Jennifer

I have a few Disney ones, free games, love the Wild West pinball, it's why I bought the phone. I LOVE pinball.

No walking for Mark and I last night, we cleaned instead. Ah well, at least the place is somewhat spruced up.

Have a good one!

Good Morning, TEAM!:wave2:

Will have to catch up with all your happenings later...the little guys should be arriving soon :goodvibes

Connie is going to do an official 'Report' on our time together sometime soon.

Connie & I had a great week. :hippie: no time for getting into trouble.
For our Goofy Training we did log 20.3 miles and one morning at the gym.

Saturday morning we had a really nice 4-mile walk at Celery Flats (Connie says it is missed named and should be called Celery Hills). The trail was busy as they were having The Peacock Strut Race.

Sunday we went to first service, walked 9-miles on the beautiful shaded Kal-Haven Trail, and had a picnic at the Trail Head before leaving for South Haven. Connie being from Texas wanted to see our beautiful Lake Michigan!

At South Haven we walked around for another 2-miles. Walked out on the pier, had a delightful stroll along the beach, and soaked our feet and legs in Lake Michigan. AaaaHhhhhhhhhhhh

DD is here...she fell this morning and her ankle is swelling. We might be making another trip to ER today :headache:

Have a Great Day!

Margie glad you and our sweet captain had a wonderful time.

Pixey dust for everyone to ensure a magical and wonderous day.

I'm off to another 12 hour shift. We have someone on vacation this week so lots of extra days.

I have 18 miles already for the week so a rest day is ok.

Dave:hippie:

Good morning team! Why does it seem like the week before a race is the busiest at work :) Lots of stuff to finish before Friday *sigh* I'm going to the gym tonight for a quick training session. I got to work and realized that I left my wallet and socks at home. D'oh!

Dave - Good luck with your 12 hour shift today!

Margie - WTG to you and Connie for those Goofy miles! pixiedust: for DD! I hope everything is okay.

Jennifer/Denise - I have an iPhone too, it's a bit of a time burglar :) I tend to chat and message a lot on it.

Kim - No I don't really feel ready. I heard it's suppose to rain on Sunday. Yikes!

Jack - Welcome back! I hope to take a Disney cruise one of these days :)

Back to work! Have a great day everyone! :wave2:

Hi all,

1 hour tempo for 7.5 miles wed. Easy 6.5 yesterday in 50 minutes.
I'm getting a kitten early next week.
Have a great weekend!

Vicky I have been watching the weather also, not sure if it is worse being a spectator in the rain or running it....lol

When are you guys going to expo? We are going tonight. Did you get your bib yet? I think Kevin is 2194. I signed up for the text alerts yesterday. So I am ready to go not sure if he is...lol

Good morning Team.

Very foggy this morning, reminds me of the 2007 WDW marathon. The first couple of hours of that race were very foggy and it was sureal seeing the park features appearing out of the dense fog. Like the Ball at Epcot suddenly looming over you.

I'm trying not to catch a flu bug. The sore throat I've had for a few days is better this morning. Hope that's a sign that I've beaten it off.

Not motivation for training this morning since I'm back to work in a couple of hours.

Everyone have a magical day.

Dave:hippie:

Good morning team! I'm counting down to Sunday's half ... I've heard that it might rain but I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the rain will fall later in the day. I'll be taking it easy today and tomorrow and stretching lots. I did a 1/2 workout at the gym last night and focused a lot on hip and glute activation exercises.

Kim - Nathaniel is going to take me over during lunch. He's downtown so he'll drive me over. I was going to wait until after work but I think there's going to be more traffic then. I figure if I have to get in and out quickly, I'll be less tempted to spend money :) Good luck to Kevin!! I hope to see you and Mike on Sunday.

Dave - pixiedust: for your cough!

Jennifer - A kitten sounds like fun :) Do you have any names in mind?

Sue - Good luck on Sunday!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Good Morning Team!

Race anxiety has taken over. Just want to get Sunday over with.

Vicky, Have a great race. DH is in the area today so he is doing packet pickup for me. :thumbsup2

Jen, I'm jealous you are getting a kitten. I would love one but DH is severely allergic. Boy or girl? Have you thought of a name?

Have a great weekend & training........Sue

Hi all,

Ended up taking an unscheduled rest day today. My body just couldn't get up this morning and I have plans tonight. I'll add a couple of extra miles tomorrow to "make up" for it.

Wilbur, I'm getting it from a shelter and I've looked at both boys and girls, I'll let you all know once it comes home.

Vicky, Names are Logan for a boy and Matilda or Hermione for a girl.

Jennifer

Good Afternoon, Team!

It has taken me awhile to get to chores caught up, Jon and I both took a brief vacation.

Had some great workouts at Margie's. She will tell you that Michigan and especially Celery Flats are flat. Don't believe it! It should be named Celery Hills! And on top of that, she's fast in them there hills! I have become a true flat lander over the years. I guess I will have to go back to Colorado and do training before I try to keep up with Margie on her "Flats"!

We went to the gym and we did Pilates at Margie's and we used her weight equipment in her house. We managed 20.4 miles for the week. it was some serious work and a lot of fun. We managed a trip to Lake Michigan which looks like an ocean, has the piers like an ocean, has fishermen on the docks, has huge ships floating around and even has sandy beaches, but it doesn't smell like an ocean and it doesn't have salt! Amazing!

Sara, Rodney and Hagen are delightful people. Hagen has officially nominated me as one of the family! A priviledge to be sure. Meema Connie, is happy to carry that distinction! :cloud9:

For this week, I got the bare minimum of training in. But I am on a roll!

Jennifer - the name of your future cat reminded me of a funny story from several years ago. We were camping on the south rim of the Grand Canyon. There were some students who had just come from the bottom and they were taking up the showers. I stood patiently in line and listened and watched as all the other girls were yelling at Hortensia to get them things. Keep in mind that Hortensia was a dark haired, dark eyed, olive complected young woman and the others calling for things were blondes. Not one of them said thank you to poor Hortensia who was running up and down the shower lines with more quarters (to get the water running again), more shampoo, extra towels, more body wash, extra conditioner, etc. Finally, I got a shower stall and I was still hearing these girls shouting at Hortensia to get them stuff (most of which was HER stuff they were "borrowing"). I finally got tired of the way they were treating her and I called out, "Hortensia, I am so glad you came with us, I don't know what we would have done without you!" All of sudden, there were thank yous and promises to pay Hortensia back. As I walked out of the shower, Hortensia smiled at me really big, but the blondes all didn't! :confused3 :rotfl:
Enjoy the kitty!

FluPanda - Get well soon.

Good Luck - Kim, Vicki, and Wilbur!! Can't wait to hear your reports!

Welcome back, Jack!

Have fun Lynn and Scott!!!

Thanks, Margie!

See ya! Connie

Good morning y'all.

One more day and I get a day off and then back to weird schedule again. But only one more week then it's over and back to normal.

I'm taking nitequil and dayquil for my cold and so far it's not to bad more of an irritation than sick. Runny nose and coughing a bit but not that horrid drained feeling.

Hope everyone is happy today, let's all find some joy in just the wonder of being alive.

Dave:hippie:

Hi TEAM! :wave2:

We are having beautiful fall weather, cooler nights, sunny, warm days - our trees are starting to get some color.

Connie, after being with DD in ER until noon, I did my 4.3 mile walk, 11-mile bike ride, and then ushered at the Civic Theater for Fiddle on the Roof last night. I did do our 8 miles at Celery 'Flats' after church today. I dragged my feet getting out the door, but it was a great walk. Lots of people out - not as many as we had last Saturday though. :upsidedow

:hippie: pixiedust: Summer colds are the worst! How's little Aiden?

Waiting to hear from our racers Vicky, Sue, Kevin! :cheer2:

Hi all,

Did 16.5 miles this morning in 2hours 25 minutes.

Did 7.25 miles yesterday in an 1 hour.

Dave, Feel better soon!

Best,
Jennifer

Yep Margie summer colds suck. But it's not to bad as colds go at least not yet.

The baby is doing great, he is a good baby. Mary is missing mom now that she has gone back to work though.

Dave:hippie:

Good Monday Morning Team!!

We lucked out with the weather for yesterday's run. A little humid but no rain.:worship: Race started at 7:30 & driving to the race there were several times when the rain was coming down so hard you could barely see to drive.

Was doing so well up until the 25k mark. Took some gatorade from the water station that was mixed way to strong. Ended up with a wicked stomach ache & had to walk/ run for the next 10k. Finished with a 4:45.:sad2:

The race really puts the downtown core of Toronto into total grid lock. Just no way of getting around closing down major streets. During the 2nd half of the marathon course most major intersections are police controlled. When there is a break in the runners they will direct a car through the intersection but the traffic backlog is huge. This one driver got out of his car & was going crazy. 4 police were at the intersection I thought for sure he was going to get arrested. He was screaming, swearing. I was waiting for him to explode.:headache::headache: There is also alot of horn honking. I never know if it's for runners encouragement or because they're mad for having to wait.

Vicky, How was your day?

Kim, How did your son make out?

Dave, Hope your cold doesn't last long. Feel better soon.

Hope everyone's training is going well. Yoga tonight. I need a good stretch.....Sue

Hey Team,

Busy, Busy here. Got my training in. And spent the weekend getting ready for DD's wedding in less than three weeks. We made gumpaste flowers and butterflies and tried on the dress. It has to be altered. I will be doing it. :scared1:

Feel better, Dave.

Sue, sorry about the tummy ache! I hope it's better now.

Margie - Hopefully, Sara has made her last trip to the ER. Surely by now, she is getting a discount!

Well, off and running..so to speak!
