Another half marathon on the books and my left hamstring is pretty sore. Not our best race, but not the worst either, so I'm happy, especially because I did not get much sleep going into it. I woke up last night at 12:45 with a headache. Rolled around in bed till 1:30, got up and took something for the headache. Still laying in bed awake at 2:30, so I just gave up and got up. Needless to say, I took a nap this afternoon. We are hanging out and resting in the room tonight. Going to watch the Colts game, and call it a night.

Vicky....You will be awesome tomorrow! Ken and I wish you the best! Have fun!

Congratulations Team Hakuna Matata!

YES WELL DONE!!!!:cool1::thumbsup2

Good Morning Team!

Congrats to all our team who ran (or walked) at WDW over the weekend! Hope everyone at WDW is having a great time!

Regina - Yes, pups are always happy to see us! Hope your neck feels better soon!

AFM - Got some exercise in Saturday with a 1.26 mile dog walk, then 45 min on spin bike. Sunday my exercise was hauling boxes for Christmas decorations up and down stairs - but everything is now put away!!! Very cold here today, -3 now, high will be maybe 6 degrees, so far, not much wind which is a blessing! We got maybe an inch of new snow, but the streets are clear in case I decide to brave the cold with the dogs today.

Pixie dust to all who are in need!

Have a great day team!

Congrats to everyone who participated (finishing or not). You guys are wonderful!

Regina: We're still probably leaving on the 25th but we're debating between the 4th and the 5th for a return date. I'm having such a hard time finding good flight prices. So far it looks like Spirit Air out of Detroit to Orlando. I've tried everywhere else and they're twice as much so far.

As for food... I'm hopeless! :rotfl: I know I want to do Norway's brunch possibly for lunch instead of dinner. Outside of that, it's just a matter of what's good. We'd probably avoid Le Cellier (even if we could get in) simply cause, well, Canadian food is cheaper here. lol I was thinking of trying Italy, Japan, or the Coral Reef because I remember them being good, but I'm open to ideas on great culinary expriences. We're on the Dining Plan, so I don't have to worry about price and since we will not be using all of our TS credits at the start or end, we might be able to spring for a Signature restaurant.

The bf doesn't like seafood usually but at times he will order it (scallops in particular). He and I both love pasta. He's basically a garbage disposal, and his likes/dislikes are on whims more than actually disliking something. He's fairly judgemental on his food (think Gordon Ramsey/Hell's Kitchen judgemental without the histronics and swearing) so I just want him to be impressed since it'll really sell the trip for him.

And the running... I do intervals so 40-45 seconds walking and then the last 20-15 seconds plus 2 minutes jogging. It took me three tries to get going last night due to a migraine but I managed to do 4 miles at almost my normal pace. Improvement, slow and steady, but impovement nonetheless. I'm starting to worry about the temperatures since I run inside, even with the gym cooler than the weather may be in Florida, I find I am prone to overheating. I'm nervous I'm going to overheat in Florida weather come race day!

If it's not one worry it's another, right?

Hi team!!

I'll do a full recap of the weekend when I'm home and can have more time, but let's just say I LOVED IT!!!!!!!!!

My chip time for the half was 2:47:38!! I'd hoped for 2:45, but I'm not going to be all down about 2 and a half minutes! I finished a half marathon and I'm dang proud of myself!!!

I got signed up for the Disneyland Half at the expo - no extra fee! WOO! And I have looked at the calendar, and the Wine and Dine falls on the weekend we are out of school Thursday and Friday for Rosh Hashanah (LOVE living in an area where the amount of students and teachers who would be out on the major Jewish holidays is so great they just close us!), so I'll be signing up for that one as well when it opens!

And... drum roll please!!!!

I'm going to do the full next year!!!! :woohoo:

Again, more later!!

Hope all are well!!

~beth

That's great, Beth! You totally rocked that time. :worship::worship::worship:

Maybe if I have the courage I'll join you in the DL half. Probably not gonna get to do the W&D though, sadly, but it'd be fun waving at you as you motor past me.:rotfl:

Where did you sign up for the Disneyland half? I asked for info at the Run Disney booth and all they gave me was the brochure with all the Disney races in it...including the dates for the Disneyland 2010 race! :confused3

On Friday, they had clipboards that had sign up forms for DL Half and I think the Everest thing - and an email sign-up for info about W&D at the runDisney booth.

Oh...I put my report in its own thread. :goodvibes

Thinking about Nashville 1/2 for next long run. Still need to figure some 5k's in between

Gerry

Ok, it's totally official now! I booked the flights last night and I have to pay the balance for our booking tonight. We decided to head out on the Friday night instead of Saturday. Our options were: Friday @ 6 pm, Saturday @ 6 am, Saturday @ 6 pm (everything else had layovers, no thanks!). Now, leaving @ 6 am on a non-print-your-boarding-pass-in-the-lobby airline means leaving at around 3 am (essentially defeating the purpose of staying the extra night. That leaves Saturday @ 6 pm and Friday @ 6 pm. Identical flights, except for price. Friday came to 87 each person before fees and taxes and Saturday (remember same flight) came to 177 each person before fees and taxes. So by moving our departure to Friday @ 6 pm, we save 90 on each of us plus the extra night at the moderate resort (came to just over another 200$). I also trimmed down our tickets from 10 days to 7 since I don't think we'll do the buy a 10 day and get no expiry option. Crazy, doing all that math.

Now it seems real and I'm so nervous! I had to opt out of cross training last night since my migraine hadn't gone away so tonight is a run *and* cross training... yay :guilty: Dunno what I did but my neck feels bruised on the back even though it doesn't look like it so I'm definitely not looking forward to any training today but I have to get back in the routine.

My parents headed out to Arizona yesterday morning but I haven't heard from them at all so I'm getting a little worried. I've confirmed their plane landed at 5:25 local time but no word from them on whether they made it on the plane or where they are now. :guilty: This is very unlike them since they normally call every day 'just to say hi' while on a trip, especially the first day so we know they got there.

Good Morning Team!

Saylan - If you are worried about the heat in FL, you might want to plan to get there a few days early to help aclimate to the temps. Hope you hear from your parents soon.

Beth - Congrats on the WDW Half, congrats on signing up for DL (we will be there, do not know yet if we will race or volunteer), and congrats on deciding to do the full next year!

Gerry - Good luck on the Nashville 1/2!

AFM - I guess we will hear from more of our team when they finally make it home from WDW. It was rather cold here yesterday - it made it up to 15 degrees without any wind - which was great. I did make it out for a short dog walk (1.26 miles) and then on the spin bike for 35 min. Today is supposed to be 16 degrees also, but today there may be wind - no wind now, should get out early for dog walk!

Pixie dust to all who are in need!

Have a great day team!

Lynn: Yeah we're flying down on the Friday so that'll give me Friday afternoon and Saturday. I just need to be sure to pack boat loads of sunscreen.

Oh and I found out last night before bed that the bf has never flown anywhere before! I'm so excited for him. His first flight and he's going to Disney!

Hi Team,

Just checking in for now! Have to take Mom to the doc soon for an eye appt. We had a GREAT time at WDW and marathon weekend, and it was good to see everybody. I'll put up a long post later today. Lots to tell you! I'm off work tonight as I have my colonoscopy in the morning to check on my cancer.

Be back soon! -Mike :cool2:

Good thoughts headed your way Mike! I know today was no picnic. ;)

Hi Team!!

Congrats to all the WDW 5k, half, marathon, goofy finishers!!!! I can’t wait to see the pics! Great job!!!

Gerry- Congrats on finishing your first half marathon! Is the Nashville ½ pretty popular? Is it a Rock N Roll one?

Lynn- I’m glad you got your decorations put away. I’m so glad it’s not that cold here.

Saylan- That’s too bad flight prices are so high. I think I heard somewhere that airline prices or going to continue getting more expensive. It’s kind of disappointing. Lol, yes that’s true- I’m sure I would be worried about something too. I’m glad you’re feeling like you’re improving though. Do your parents have cell phones to call them? Oh, and as a side note, Kyle and I loved Boma (dinner reservation) when we went in October.

Beth- I’m glad you loved the half and already have more you’re planning and are signed up for.

Mike- Can’t wait to read your longer post!

Dave/Sally- I think I read on FB you’re returning home tomorrow. Safe travels!

AFM, my neck is feeling much better, but is still a little sore. I’m sure I need to be adjusted again but I’m trying to hold out until payday (Friday) and see how it goes. Since we’re at the beginning of the year, I’m starting over with the deductible. Also with DH leaving in 2 weeks and his paychecks and pay periods changing, I’m trying to save as much money as we can now until I can get back into the flow of things with his new pay schedule and stuff (in case there are any bumps when he switches over). It shouldn’t be an issue since I’ve planned accordingly, but I figure better safe than sorry since I'm something of a worry wart! Our house is almost repainted- just have the kitchen left to prime and paint. I’m hoping to start packing some of the things we don’t really use this weekend and start moving items to storage. Still haven’t done any running with my neck. I might try the Wii Active tonight, if I’m up to it.

I’m looking forward to reading all the race reports from last weekend!

Good Morning Team! Safe travels to all who are traveling, those on the east coast, stay safe in the coming storm.

Saylan - Hope bf enjoys his first flight!

Regina - Hope you neck feels better soon!

Mike - PD for you colonoscopy today.

AFM - Did not get out to walk yesterday - wind picked up and wind chill was lower than -10 all day! I did get a pilates tape done and 45 min on the spin bike. Today is supposed to be warmer, into the 30’s today and 40’s tomorrow, so the dogs may get their walks.

Pixie dust to all who are in need!

Have a great day team!

But...

Treated myself to new shoes from Track Shack in downtown Orlando today

Still little sore from Half on Saturday but already registered for 5k through Universal on the 29th and next half is the Rock and Roll Country Music Half in Nashville end of April.

I guess ill look for some in between run between that one

Gerry
