Hakuna Matada - Awaiting an Awesome April!

Happy Monday, Everyone!

Elizabeth: Thanks! I think he's excited. lol I love the sponge cake prank. That sounds hilarious. It was nice fo you to make them something to eat for after they discovered it.

Mary: Thanks! I'm sure DBF would like that. I'll nominate him as an honorary member whether he knows or not. lol

Emily: That's great news! I was thinking about you and hoping you got in as well. I think you guys and DBF were all at the front of the list. I wonder how far down they went? I think they could have selected another dates (other than April 1st) to begin going to the wait list. They had to know some of us would assume it was a prank. Was your emails as weirdly worded as ours? Ours looked like this:

emailkg.gif

It's almost like it was responding to an inquiry instead of changing a status. I can't wait for them to post the training schedule for it, but I'm starting to worry it's too close to the January weekend for me to recover and train again for that.

AFM: I tried to get out for a run yesterday but I had no clean water bottle so I didn't get far. DBF was grocery shopping, saw me running and did a loop back to honk at me. :lovestruc He picked me up at the next side street and I got a ride home. No sooner had we put the groceries away then the sky just opened. Here's the scene:

2:40 pm: +6 outside, no jacket, running along
3:15 pm: rain
3:17 pm: HUGE snow flakes
3:20 pm: whipping wind and snow storm
3:25 pm: hail, ice pellets, and rain
3:40 pm: rain

We went for a drive later that evening and sure enough, DBF's car was coated in ice-snow. UGH!

On the plus side, I got to stay in and game most of the weekend. And I've hit on a new idea for a story. Going to try and give a shot at writing once it's a little more formed.

5k through Windermere was supposedly through packed sand but maybe due to rains last week left what i thought/ or at least claiming to be loose sand which was wearing me out? Little disappointing in time so had to bike for 8 miles and 2 mile walk/ run

May pick up another 5k before Nashville

also signed up for the I drive 5k in May (7th i think)

Good Morning Team!

Saylan - Congrats on DBF’s DL Half registration! Your weather sounds almost like ours yesterday, only we did not have the hail, ice pellets and rain, just blizzard - snow!

Beth - Sorry Beth! I knew that! Must have just had a “senior moment”!

Emily - Congrats to you and DH also getting registered for DL Half! Sounds like a good number of us will be there!

Mike - If you get our weather a day later, then you are really in for it today - we had a blizzard yesterday - got about 6 inches of snow (most of which has melted now, and the rest will melt later today when it warms up to 40 degrees!)

Mary - We can always add honorary members!

Elizabeth - Winds calmed down for a bit yesterday, today calm until later this afternoon, then “breezy” again.

Gerry - Sorry your race was not as advertised! Glad someone is having nice weather!

AFM - We did a 28 mile bike ride on Saturday - when the weather was nice, at least it was warm! The wind did pick up - we had gone out with the local cycling club, and stopped for lunch, after lunch, we had to ride against a 40 mph wind for about 3 miles to get back to where we had parked the car. I learned that there is no way I can keep up with the main group of riders, I am back with the 2 or 3 stragglers. Yesterday, it started nice, and I was about to take dogs out for a walk when the storm suddenly came in, started snowing, white out conditions! No exercise, just say at home and watched movies! Today is cold, but sunny, so will get dogs out for a walk! We are watching the weather in Salt Lake City for next weekend, if it is bad (rain and snow), we will bag the Metric Century Bike Ride.

Pixie dust to all who are in need!

Have a great day team!

Hi team! Happy Monday! We're still unpacking after our move at work so I am still trying to catch up with everyone! Just check the race schedule quickly and see if there's anything I've missed. If so, let me know :)

Lynn - What a bike ride! I'm not sure I could go for that long! :thumbsup2 I'm hoping you get nice weather next weekend for the Metric Ride. We had a dusting of snow last night too - it made no sense because Sunday had been warmish and sunny. Go figure!

Gerry - Congrats on your 5K! I'd imagine that running through the sand would tire you out quickly. I've run in ankle high snow before and it's tricky to keep your footing, balance and just to pull your legs up and out of the stuff.

Saylan - That's fantastic news that DBF got into the DL Half! Looks like nearly half the team is heading over there for the race. You guys will have to make sure to get a team photo! I don't get the weather yesterday either - I did a double take when I looked out the window last night and saw snow :scared1: Thankfully it was gone in time for the morning rush! I hope the story writing goes well - I didn't know you were a writer! Very cool! :thumbsup2

Emily - Sorry about that! I've fixed the race calendar  Glad to hear you guys are in for the DL Half as well! Hopefully it won't be an April Fool's joke - that would just be cruel. The Quidditch game sounds cool! I'd love to see how they play :)

Beth - The variety show sounded like a lot of fun! I always get a really horrible case of the nerves so have never gotten on stage to do anything before ... I don't think elementary school plays count :laughing:What were the prizes they were giving out? Let me know if you end up registering for the 10K.

Elizabeth - Love the sponge cake prank! That's awesome! How did your run go?

Dave - I'm totally not a morning person either so I feel for Sally. Glad to hear things are going well for the both of you!

Mike - You know you want to sign up for Goofy ...:rolleyes1 Any luck picking up a set of skiis this weekend?

AFM - My diet has totally gone downhill during the move. I ate out everyday for every meal... I didn't think that was possible. Then I was eating non stop candy - not even good stuff, just anything and everything I could get my hands on. I'm so disappointed with myself. :sad2: Anyway, it's a new month and a new start so I'm going to clean up the eating and start over.

I've also registered for a 5K in June and a 30K in August. I'll probably register for a September half this weekend as well. I'm still holding off on Goofy - just waiting until the end of the month (or whenever the discount code expires). Hopefully it hasn't yet expired!

Have a great day everyone! :wave2:

While Sally slept this morning I went for my early morning training walk. Today was 4 miles in 50:52 for a pace of 12:28 per mile. This is another 30 second improvement over last week.

I'm going to try and paint the pink bedroom today. I'm not a great painter so wish me luck. The last time I painted my choc lab was gray from the roller mist.

After the pink room we are going to go after the brown bathroom.

Have an awesome monday y'all.

Dave:hippie:

Hi Kids,

Okay, I've gone and done it. I have offically gone GOOFY for 2012, and will also be doing the 5K, so I guess I'm a Dumbo! I blame Eva and Vicky for this decision and fully expect you both to join me in the Goofy! Vicky, the discount expires in a couple of weeks (the 24th?) so now is your chance!

I found the cross country skis that I want, but will purchase them in the fall. The store was out of my size boot, so rather than guess the size and try and order them, I'll wait. The total cost for skis, poles, boots, and bindings will be about $300. I will need them to train for the Goof!

I ran four miles with a pace of 9:38 today. We had bad storms last night, but it cleared enough to get outside.
Liz's knee is really bothering her and she will be heading to the ortho surgeon to have it checked out again. Apparently, when she twisted it last weekend, she hurt it more than we thought. I can tell that she is also a little miffed with me for registering for the Goofy. Looks like more overtime ahead for me! :sad2: Back to work for the next eleven days for me!

Dave~ good luck painting, remember, the prep is everything. Applying the paint is the easy part! I once had a doofus of a housecat who jumped up on the kitchen counter, into my paintpan. I yelled and then had a scared cat who left multiple paw prints all over our new house as he ran away!

As the DL half gets closer, we need to plan a team meet while we are there!

Goofy for me depends on whether Sally can get the time off to come to Disney. If I do this one it will be my 4th. I have done the last two without much training, don't recommend that. For that aweful freezing 2010 race I had a longest training walk of 8 miles and for 2011 I did it on a longest training of 6 miles. If I do it I'll have at least some 10 milers under my belt.

Dave:hippie:

Well, today was my first attempt at 5:1. I started off well...but too fast. And then my brain took over and was all "You started out too fast! You need to walk!" and my legs listened more than I would have liked them to. But I made it 4.14 miles in 52 minutes, so it's still under a 13mm pace.

Wednesday's my next crack at it!

Good luck with the painting Dave!

Mike ~ Great run!!

Vicky ~ We all have times like that! I know my eating will fall off when I go home in a couple of weeks - it always does. Grats on signing up for the races!! It may be an after-the-fact-I-did-it race as I think I'll wait and see how I'm feeling next week before I make a decision.

Emily ~ The quidditch game sounds fun!!

Saylan ~ I don't think DL will be too close in. If I remember correctly, my HM training plan didn't even start until the first part of October for the January Half last year. (And then there was the 9 weeks between that and NYC Half...and we won't even discuss the FOUR weeks between DL and W&D! Hee!)

I don't know what my schedule is going to look like at DL. I'm going out with my sister and my running partner and his roommate, and I think a friend of the roommate's, so we'll be occupied. We'll see though.

~beth

Gerry: Hate to read that your time wasn't what you wanted. Sounds like the loose sand was indeed the problem.

Beth: Sounds like a great attempt at 5:1. I bet Wednesday will be even better.

Mike:
Yay for being Goofy!

Dave:
So what color is the pink bedroom now? I have 2 bedrooms to paint and my girls are trying to convince me that purple and turquoise are the way to go....

Emily:
The Muggle Quidditch game sounds like blast, but only to watch not play!

Vicky:
Like you said, it is a new month and a fresh start. :thumbsup2

AFM: Storms are blowing through right now so I can't run outside. They knocked out the power at the gym so I can't head there this morning either. I'm a wreck about my DH's job interview tomorrow so I'm eating everything in sight. Looks like an afternoon training session for me once the storms calm down and perhaps chewing gum all day to control the nervous eating.

Elizabeth

Good Morning Team!

Vicky - Good luck getting back on track with your diet! Weather! Saturday 70 degrees, Sunday 33 degrees w/6 inches of snow, Monday 40 degrees, today 66 degrees, rest of week 50’s with rain and snow!

Beth - What we have done in the past at DL is have a WISH meet in front of Jamba Juice - we would just hang out there, some folks would just stop by for a few minutes, others would hang out for quite a while. It was usually set for about 4:00 or 4:30, so folks could stop by on their way to dinner. I think it was usually set for Friday night, maybe Sat night also.

Dave - Hope Sally survived her 3 mornings in a row! Good luck to you with your painting!

Emily - I hear about quidditch games and always wonder how they would work, sounds like it was fun.

Mike - Great for signing up for Dumbo! Have fun working the OT!

Elizabeth - Pixie Dust to your husband for tomorrows interview, and Pixie Dust to you to live thru it! I drink tea (preferably Chai) with sugar free sweetener or flavoring (vanilla for Chai) to keep me from eating during the day.

AFM - Did brave the cold wind and walked the dogs yesterday, and managed 30 min of Pilates and 30 min of weights. Today will be our nicest day of the week, so will try for longer walk.

Pixie dust to all who are in need!

Have a great day team!

Hello team!

Saylan - That's what my email looked like, I thought it was weird too. I checked our credit card statement and we did get charged. We're also thinking about doing Disney World in Jan. We use a 14 week training schedule, so we'd have a bit of a break after DL before we'd start training again.

Beth - The quidditch world cup is in NYC in Nov, just google International Quidditch Association.

Vicky - There are quidditch teams around the world so maybe there will be on near you sometime :)

Elizabeth - Pixie dust for your DH's interview!

AFM - Tried out my new Jillian Michael's ab workout dvd Sunday night, I thought it was alright but need to try it again. Went for a run yesterday, it went well and the weather was nice.

Looking forward to meeting everyone at DL!

Have a good night,
Emily

Hey just popping in to say hi!!!! Life just gets to busy some times. But getting in workouts and eatting better....not great but better.

Hope everyone is doing great!!!!

Good Morning Team!

Hi Emily and Kim!

Weather wasn't too bad yesterday, and the dogs and I did get out for 3 miles, then spent an hour on the spin bike. Today it is snowing! It is supposed to be snowing or raining for the next few days. Today we need to decide if we will got to Salt Lake City for our bike ride this weekend, or bag it due to the weather.

Pixie Dust to all who are in need!

Have a great day!

Hi Team,

A little rainy, but warm outside here today. Strong storms predicted over the coming weekend. I stayed home from work last night with another sinus infection. Went to the docs today and I'm on antibiotics. No running for me today... I'm bummed!

I picked up a copy of Tron today and will watch it this weekend. I hope its good!

It seems like alot of us are heading West for the DL half. We can't wait to meet up with everyone! :)

Elizabeth~ good luck to your husband during his interview!

-Mike :cool2:

Happy Wednesday, everyone!

Thanks for the pixie dust; it worked! My DH had his in-person interview this morning and was offered a job this afternoon.

Off to do a little exercising before dark; I finally have some energy to burn!

Good morning guys. No training for me today since I have to open the store and I had a hard training yesterday anyway.

Sally is meeting me at the mall so she can do her hour walk and then we can go find supper. We are thinking salmon at Cheaders. She will take her turn at painting today.

Dave:hippie:

Morning team!

I hope all are doing well! :D

It could be interesting at school today - we heard the principal (the one I refer to as Umbridge...yes because of the Harry Potter reference) is going to be here. Usually she's in all kinds of crazy early, but I haven't seen or heard her (she is short and wears crazy high heels, so she has a very distinctive walk). I've got some stuff ready to go, but a lot is having to be done on the fly right now because we're at a paper and ink shortage and can't make copies or print outs of things other than progress reports, etc. Oy!

After school it's off to pick up my bib and stuff for the race on Sunday, hitting the LRS for some Body Glide (a friend sent me a couple of running skirts that are too big for her now for me to try...they're almost too big for me, but they'll work until I can order a couple in my size now that I know I love them!), then home to do Pure Burn Super Strength. Whee!!

Hope everyone has a good day!!

~beth

Good Morning Team!

Beth - Have a good day at work!

Dave - Have fun at work!

Mike - Pixie Dust for a quick recovery!

Elizabeth - Congrats to your husband!

Kim - Snow had melted by end of day, may start again sometime today or tonight!

AFM - Got out for short walk in the snow yesterday, then dogs to vet (annual shots) and some errands. Scott decided we were going to Salt Lake City in spite of the weather, I told him I reserved the right to refuse to ride 62 miles if it were raining or snowing at the start! So, we are headed that way tomorrow and will be back on Sunday. Have a good weekend all!

Pixie dust to all who are in need!

Have a great day team!
