AKA - Springing into April

- or -

AKA - Waiting for the weather to make up it's freaking mind, because we are tired of freezing our butts off and having to wear multiple layers while still trying to find the motivation to actually exercise outside on gloomy, rainy, frosty days that should be warmer by now, with sunshine and green grass with children playing outside and chances to ride motorcycles and watch girls in bikinis walk by while eating and ice cream cones with sprinkles on top, supercalifragilistic, ride like the wind Bullseye, where did I leave my margarita, have a nice day!

I think I'll just let you guys come up with thread titles from now on! You guys are too creative :) These are great!! :thumbsup2

So who's got a good April Fool's prank planned?? :upsidedow

:simba: Hakuna Matata Team Bios :simba:

Verticalchaos, aka Beth- I'm 39 and live in NYC. I teach students with autism. I'm a fairly new runner - started with the Couch to 5K program at te end of June. So far I've run 2 5Ks and a 10K - and I'm training for the WDW Half in January and the DL Half in September. And I may throw another Half in there somewhere. I've been actively working on losing weight since May and am down 19 pounds and at my lowest weight in over 10 years. No kids...just one very bratty and noisy Quaker Parrot named Benjamin Coffin the Bird (Benny for short).

Windwalker, aka Dave aka Panda- I'm 58 and live in a small town in Kentucky. I don't run I walk, race walk actually. I have qualified for another shot at the National Senior Olympics. Married to Sally.

es45 aka Elizabeth- I'm 42 and married with 2 young daughters. I ran my first 13.1 in the 2011 Princess Half.

Pudge The Fish, aka Emily- My DH and I will be doing the DL half in Sept. This will be our first half marathon. I still consider myself new to running, though I've done 2 5k (including the 2009 DL 5k) and one 10k.

Villians_Rock, aka Eva – I am 31 years old, married to Jordan (proud WISH supporter) and have just recently had our first baby, Gage. We currently live near Cleveland, OH. I'm a full time staffing coordinator for Continental Airlines and my hubby sells Harley Davidsons. I ran my first race in 2007 and have since ran 5Ks, 10Ks, one half marathon and completed the Disney Full Marathon in 2009. Before the baby, I was most comfortable running and training at a half marathon distance.

GirltheGecko aka Hope- I grew up in the Pittsburgh area. When I was a teenager, I was heavily into martial arts, unfortunately due to school and time, I had to quit. I met Nick, moved to NH, and I gained some weight. I watched my mother struggle with obesity all her life, so Nick's family and I decided to work at trying for a half marathon at WDW.

flipflopmom, aka Taryn – I will be 35 on Sept. 5. I am a Kindergarten Teacher, working on my master's degree in my "spare” time. Married for 12 years, have 2 girls. Oldest is 10, and a competitive gymnast. Her gym is 45 minutes away, so I spend a lot of time on the road. Youngest is 3, and a tons of fun! I haven't run a race yet, but looking for a 5K.

LynnG, aka Lynn, (of Lynn and Scott)- 60 years old, retired, we are both Disneyholics. We have been members of DVC since it started. I am a walker, I used to try to run, but knee surgery last August which I am still trying to recover from, I only walk now. I have done several half marathons, mostly Disney ones. I have 2 malamutes that are my walking companions at home.

MaryJ aka Mary- I am 53 years old, and live in a small town in Southwestern Indiana. I will be married to DH (Ken) for 34 years in July. We have 3 daughters and 2 granddaughters. I walk/run my races. I did my first big race (WDW Half) when I was 52. Before that I had done only a few 5K's, mostly walking.

Motomiker, aka Mike – I have lived in and around Lake in the Hills Illinois. I have worked in the grocery business for almost 20 years. Married in 2008 to my wife (Liz). One son (Robert), working on baby number two. I was diagnosed with colon cancer in the fall of 2009 and had surgery. I am still cancer free! My other interests are varied: Disney nut, Disney pins collector, love movies (mostly Sci-fi), scrapbooking, travel, a New England Patriots fan, and 5ks . I did my first adventure race recently, and am planning some more.

Nikkilala, aka Nikki- Married to Ryan at WDW in 2007. Currently a Physical Therapist Assistant student graduating in 2012. Is a wogger (walker with a little jogging mixed in) Lives in South West Michigan where she was born and raised! Loves Disney and will do anything for an excuse to travel there, including a half marathon

Saylan – I'm from the frosty north of Canada. I'm very new to running (officially started October 14, 2010). I'm training for the Disney Princess 1/2 and it'll be my first official marathon of any length. I'm a Disney addict (been 16 times). I figured if anything can motivate me to run it would be Disney. I live with my partner (and Disney virgin) and a demon of a cat.

piglet24, aka Regina- I grew up in Idaho and married my “birthday buddy”, Kyle, in 2006. There has been a great deal of stress in my life recently that I do not have the ability to change right now, so I decided to try running to help manage the stress and give myself goals to work toward and focus on. Right now I’m working toward my first half marathon in October (Wine and Dine).

DisneyGerry, aka Gerry - Lives in Celebration, FL, transplant from MD after numerous vacations to visit central FLA. Trying to kick up my race schedule this year starting with the Disney Half in January. Play and work in the theme park corridor

YaY April! One month closer to warmer weather! TGIF and Happy April Fool's Day everyone.

Mike: Yeah, that's part of the issue (motivation to keep working out) but also having enough knowledge to continue my successful progress. I ended up going for more sessions (and a bigger package than I had bought earlier). Costs more, but better than buying a small package and then another at the end.

AFM: DBF and I got miffed at each other so I went to bed early (around 9) and slept the whole night. Felt great!

On Tuesday he got me the Blu-Ray of Tangled as a surprise! Plus because he was one of the first thirty people, he got a stuffed Pascal. Pascal kept me company last night so it was hilarious.

Morning all!

I'm taking a day off - my throat was scratchy and ouchy most of the day yesterday, and I was really draggy, so in the afternoon I told our unit coordinator I wouldn't be in and she found me a sub. I'm feeling a little better today, but a day off once in a while never hurts anyone. :goodvibes

I ended up NOT doing my Shred yesterday - was too tired to get out of bed early enough yesterday morning and in the afternoon opted to just relax before Variety Show rehearsal (running club variety show is tonight...I was talked into doing something...opted for "Diva's Lament" from Spamalot. Hee!). So today I think I'm going to attempt to kill myself with 2 doses of it. We'll see.

Hope everyone has a great day!

~beth

Good Morning Team! Happy April Fool’s Day!

Vicky - Thanks for the new thread!

Saylan - Good luck with the continued personal training sessions! Great on a good night’s sleep!

Beth - More Pixie Dust for DH’s interview next week! Spamalot is one of our favorites! Don’t kill yourself on the Shred!

Mike - Great that you got some sleep!

Gerry - Good luck on your race tomorrow!

AFM - Very high wind yesterday, got ready for dog walk, walked out the driveway and almost got blown over, so turned around and went back in! Did get 1 hour on exercise bike in. Wind has died down a bit - 20 mph instead of 40-50 mph, so I should be able to get out for dog walk today.

Pixie dust to all who are in need!

Have a great day team!

Lynn ~ Oops! I'm Beth...single! Elizabeth is the one with the interviewing husband I think. :D

OK...I rethought it. I decided that since April has 30 days, I'll just count today as day 1...Tuesday and Wednesday were just practice runs. :D

OMG I had to share, I'm so excited!!! DBF is in the DL half in September. He was on the waitlist and we got an e-mail today saying he's been changed from Waitlist to Registered. :cool1: The e-mail is so weirdly worded, as if they were responding to an inquiry, but I see a charge being added of 135$ in the e-mail so I figure it's correct.

Anyone else who's on the waitlist should definitely watch their inboxes.

[edit]: If this turns out to be an April Fool's joke, I'mma flip out.

Well yes it's April and the official start of Panda Rising. Mine and Sally's luck has finally changed for the better and our financial worries are over. She is working and we are actually getting tax money back.

Since I recovered from that aweful flu bug I had my training has been going super good. I did my 4 mile route in 51:19 this morning, last week the same route was 51:55. I'm feeling good and training strong and smart, life is good.

Everyone have a super weekend and keep your head high and your feet moving forward.

Dave:hippie:

Yay Dave!!!! You and Sally totally deserve it!!!

So far the day is going well. I practiced some new staging for my act for my running club's variety show tonight. :) Hee! I'm excited!!

Hi Team,

Found the new thread! Cold with rain/sleet here today. Grrrrr! In the back of my mind I am still wavering about signing up for the 2012 Goofy. I think Liz is getting annoyed with me. :confused3 I might take Robert to see Hop later today if I get myself motivated. Also, might go look for some marked down cross country skis at a nearby shop that is having an end of season sale. They would help me stay in shape during next winter ( for the Goofy, of course).

Lynn~ It always seems that we get your weather a day or two after you!

Beth~ Good luck with the double shredding!

Dave~ Your positive vibes always uplift me!

Train on everyone! Mike :cool2:

Positive thoughts have been hard to come by for a while but I think that Sally and I have turned a corner and it will be a smoother ride from now on.

Dave:hippie:

Poor Sally has had 3 early mornings in a row. She is so not a morning person and she may slay me when I go in and hug her awake in a few minutes. But Pandas will fear not, wish me luck. Today is a no training day since I have to open the store this morning.

Have an awesome weekend guys.

Dave:hippie:

Gerry: Good luck at the race!

Saylan: Great news about the DL race!

Beth: I've been listening to music from Spamalot since reading your post.

Lynn: Thanks for the extra pixie dust for DH. When should those crazy winds calm down?

Dave: Glad everything is going so well for you and Sally (except the early mornings) ;)

Mike: Did you see Hop? I took the girls to the $1 theater yesterday to see the last Narnia movie.

AFM: My girls begged me to make a sponge cake so I complied by frosting 4 new kitchen sponges for each girl, topped with sprinkles and piped icing. They looked great and the girls wasted no time trying to tear into them. April Fool's! Of course, I made a real cake too and let them have it after a good laugh.

I've failed at exercising this week but the fact that I'm admitting it means that I'm ready to get off the couch. Today is "No Sugar Saturday" and my first run in a week.

Have a great weekend, everyone!

So glad to hear this news! Your DBF can join my DH as "honorary" members of team Hakuna Matata.

Hi team!

Glad to hear that everyone is doing well! :D

The variety show went well last night. I didn't win, but I didn't expect to. I felt like I was pitchy, but a lot of people complimented me and a couple even asked where I trained, so... I had fun, and that's what matters. :D

Today was Day 2 of the 30 Day Shred (I'm doing it every day in April) as well as 5.77 miles of run/walk! Yay! It felt great!!

I found a possible 10K on 4/16 in Nashville...it'll just depend on if my dad's willing to get up early to get me there so I can on-site register (I'm going home for Spring Break). Well, I say 10K...I might go with 5K since there are so few of those I can do in NYC (at least NYRR-sponsored 5Ks...meaning ones that are officially timed). That one starts earlier though, so we'll see.

Have a good weekend all!!

~beth

Hello team!

Vicky - I got a couple more races to add to the race calendar... the DL 5k and half in September. Patrick and I got in through the waitlist for the half. Also, the calendar has us listed for a race on Aug 7th, but that's incorrect. Thanks!

Gerry - Hope your race went well!

Saylan - DH and I got into the DL half through the waitlist too. I also thought what if it's an April Fool's joke.

Beth - Spamalot is one my favortie musicals, I love Diva's Lament.

AFM - Got in a couple of runs last week, the weather finally warmed up. It was in the 90s a couple of days, but then it promptly fell back into the 60s here. I'm excited we got into the Disneyland half, now we just need to book our hotel.

Yesterday, we went to see the West Coast Quidditch tournament. It was really fun to watch. There are chasers, seekers etc just like in Harry Potter and everyone runs around holding a broom between their legs. A person wearing a yellow jersey is the snitch and tehy can run around wherever they want. The seekers have pull a flag off og the snitch to catch it. Two people had bloody, and possibly broken, noses after colliding into each other. The best match was when they had all the little kids in attendance come out and play.

Today, I have to go run errands. Don't know if I'll get a workout in.

Have a good day!
Emily
