DDIL is a naval officer stationed at Norfolk (she's an RN). She just received orders that she will be on a plane tomorrow morning for the USNS Comfort heading for Haiti. She anticipates being aboard the hospital ship for the next 3 to 6 months.

My son and 2 yo grandson will be holding down the fort in Norfolk while she is gone. Luckily we were able to go down for a visit at Christmas. She is very upset at leaving her family but we are so proud of her and thankful that she has this opportunity to do some good for all those poor people. This is her first deployment and we are grateful she is not going into a combat zone.

We are hoping she will be back in time for our planned trip to WDW in July.:grouphug:

I hope she'll be back for your trip, too, Pig Pen.

May God bless and keep her (and all the rescue workers) safe.

Thank your DDIL for me for serving her country.

May she stay safe and that area never become a war zone.

Thank goodness for people like your DDIL. It breaks my heart to watch the news and see the people of Haiti so in need of support.

Let your DDIL know that our prayers are with her as she serves our country and helps the Haitians....May God keep her and her fellow servicemen safe.

I am so thankful for what she is doing and the sacrifice she is making in leaving her family to help the people of Haiti. Blessings, safe thoughts and prayers are sent her way.

Please thank your son and DDIL for their service. Dh and I watched the USNS Comfort set out today, she is magnificent!

Thanks! I will pass along your well wishes. We are going to do a skype session in a few minutes.

Since the ship sailed this morning, we thought she had been passed over for this duty...but she got the call around noon today...for some reason they are flying troops to Florida to meet the ship.

I echo the words of all the PP's, and wish her well and am thankful for all she will do for these poor, suffering people in Haiti.

God bless her! and what an amazing ship.

I'll keep her and her fellow hospital staff in my prayers.

I think that what she is doing is amazing. I wish her well.

Add me to the list of well wishers! I pray she stays safe! Your whole family has a very special place is our family's heart for the sacrifices you all are making so she can help save lives! :thumbsup2
