Ok, I did something I said I would never do.......try to do highlights myself. I used Clairol Herbal Essence and my hair doesn't look good. It is strawberry blonde now and bad at the sides/roots.

What do I do? I vow to never do this type of thing again.

Is there something I can get though that would take it back to the dirty blonde universal color it was?

The boxes usually have an 800 number on the side or on the directions that you can call for help...they would be the best to call as they know there products and how to fix problems..

well, I surely wish they could undo the damage, but they will ask if I did a strand test. YES....I did. But one strand and an entire head are totally different. I don't think they will be able to help, really.

I thought you were gonna tell me something really funny. Oh.......this isn't a trip report is it? Oh nevermind, that's Delswife. ;)

I would go the route of going to a hairdresser, telling them what you put on it, and let them fix it. :)

That's my plan right now. I didn't want to go into work tomorrow, but I'm going to have to.

Well, I probably couldn't help you unless you wanted to go totally blonde. I color my own hair and use L'Oreal Les Blondimess. It is the STRONGEST over the counter product on the market. It will not turn your hair reddish but blonde.:wave2:

I am not a stylist but, I have colored my hair several times. That said, here is some advice. Hi-lites always look really dramatic when you first do them. Try giving it a day or two for you to get used to it. If it really is too dramatic then try Nice and Easy. They sell a temporary color that lasts for about 8-10 shampoos. Find a color that is the same shade as your original color or a lighter that way the hi-lites will blend better. Since it is a shampoo out color, it should not damage your hair. You can also go to the salon and have them put a rinse on your hair, but it will cost almost as much as coloring it (usually between $40 to $75)

Good luck, and let us know how it turns out!

I am not a haircolorist. Do you have a shop in your area that sells hair styling products similar or the same as professionals use? We have 3 hair schools in our area and have several to choose from. If you do there is a product sold at these places that is called "Color Fixer" may not be the exact name. If you ask at the store they will know what you are talking about. This product will remove the "color" you put in and take your hair back to as close to the original color you had. If however you usually color your hair it will take you back to your natural color. If your hair is bleached it will take back to the bleached color. It will not be able to add back the color bleaching removes.

If you dont have this store in your area call a hair salon they will have the product and be able to correct the problem.

Good luck I hope this helps

Yes I color my hair. No I have been lucky not to have had this issue yet! You are the 4th person I have heard this has happened to in the last 2 weeks. Lady Clariol is due to visit me this coming weekend. You all better not jinx me into Green hair LOL
