Has anyone got a haircut in the MK? How did it come out? What does the pixie dust look like?

My daughter got a haircut last December. It was real neat. It was a good haircut and the "pixie dust" was nice. Pretty much just sparkles.

They don't take appointment, so it's a first come first serve place. We waited almost 1 hr. but it was worth it. My advise - go early!

Have fun!

I'd like to know about the haircuts at MK also! I can't wait. My baby is nine months old and ready for his very first haircut! I am planning on bringing him on June 22 and I am so excited that he will have his very first haircut in Disney World! :cloud9:

My dh actually gets one every time we go, if i stay in there while he's getting it done they tend to throw pixie dust on me too. The pd is mickey head sparkles. It's really nice. We go during the parades because there's never been a line and then by the end of the haircut the parade has made it to the shoppe and you get to see the parade dissappear back stage. It's nice. Last time we didn't make it and I think dh was a bit dissappointed.

We took our 16-month-old granddaughter for her first haircut in May. We were there in December and the line was VERY long so we skipped it but this time we only had to wait about 20 minutes. They plastered Mickey stickers all over the front of her dress, which fascinated her. She sat very still during the haircut, which turned out very cute. She didn't want to get out of the chair when she was done! The stylist placed some cute little Mickey ears on her; they had "First Haircut" embroidered on them. They gave us some locks of hair wrapped in paper and sealed with a Mickey sticker, and a certificate with her name on it. It was a great experience and we are very glad we did it. The cost was $14 and tip, about what we would have paid at home.

My DH gets his hair cut when we go to MK. The last time we went we watched the parade down towards Town Square. When we saw the last bit of parade coming he went to the Barbershop. He only waited about 10 minutes. The first time he got his hair cut the workers and a couple other castmembers got in a water fight, it was hilarious. Plus, since my DH was getting his hair cut he ended up in the middle of it! :rotfl: Needless to say the pixie dust stuck to him the rest of the day! It is really neat when the barbershop quartet comes in and sings. We didn't get to see them the second time we were there. If it is not too long of a wait I say go for it.

We had coloured gel and "pixie dust" (Mickey Mouse sprinkles) in April at the barber shop. Bring your own pony tail holders and they can do ponytails or sometimes braids for girls. Boys can get Hidden Mickey's in gel on the back of their heads. It was $5.00 to do the gel and sprinkles. It's $14 or $15 for a hair cut I believe. If it's a first haircut you can also get a certificate stating the event.

We got my babe's first haircut there in May. Michael was fabulous. She never even realized what he was doing. She got a certificate and First Haircut Ears. Afterwards, we had him decorate our other daughters' ponytails. The Mickfetti stayed in all day. They loved it! We went first thing in the morning and didn't have to wait at all.

My husband and son used to do this every year, but now one is bald (bet you can figure out which one) and the other gets his hair cut in a special spiky hairdo, so he doesn't cut it at WDW anymore either.

But they both loved getting it cut there. Definitely some pixie dust in the air.

The Mickfetti looks COOL, where abouts is the Barbershop in MK?... good idea to visit just before the parade ends

I think a kid's first haircut at the Magic Kingdom would be a really cool thing. I still remember thinking that it was going to hurt when I first got my haircut. Hehe.

Ask your sister. :rotfl: I have pictures of your niece when we just did it last trip. Funny.

This is SOOOOO cool... We soooo want to get dd's first haircut there. :)

I remember seeing something about this awhile back and had to look this up. :)

Its always in her eyes so I wanna trip it up a bit(not bangs but just up) and the back too. I think the pixiedust idea will be a hit. ;)

NOw I can't wait for 6 weeks until we go. :)

we've had both of my kids first haircuts done here. The ears and the certificates are so special!
Can't wait to do the pixie dust in January!

My youngest was about 2 1/2 when we were at Disney and she also got her first haircut there. I wasn't really sure I was ready for her to get her haircut(especially her being my last it was kind of bitter sweet). Then I figured why not, what better place than Disney to get her first haircut.(I would have never even know about igetting first haircuts there had I not read about it here, thank you very much) I must say it turned out great. They didn't really cut a lot off, just evened up the back and gave her just a little bangs. Like some previous posters mentioned she recieved her "firt haircut" ears, a lock of her baby hair and a certificate. When ever we bring up Disney she still talks about how she recieved her beautiful haircut there(she says he cut it just like a princess). Oh and we didn't have to wait at all, it was late afternoon and we just walked in.

We did this with DD when she was 13 she got a GREAT hair cut and some colored gel and pixie dust. The hairdresser also sprinkled pixie dust in my hair as well (some of which was still in my hair a week later when we headed home LOL) Many shampooings and a day at the waterpark didn't even knock all that pixie dust out of my curly hair. LOL
DH also sported a mickey head on the back of his head for the day it was GREAT on the back of his bald head.

We tipped nicely 5.00 best I remember but there was no extra charge for my pixie dust that I didn't ask for. When we was leaving I made the comment that DH had the perfect head for a mickey head to be painted on back of his head and it was done after we'd already paid and was walkin out the door.

A haircut at the MK has become something of a ritual for me everytime I visit Orlando.

I always ask if they have a MM hat that says "486th haircut" on it.

Does anyone know the hours the barbershop is open?
