My husband and son want to hold off on their hair cuts so they can get a cut at the barbershop on Main Street. Anyone done this and if so, how long is the wait (which of course will vary I realize!)? Can you make an appointment? We'll be there the Tuesday after Easter. If you can direct me to other info, I'd appreciate it!

(Yikes - our counter is so close and we have two sick kids!)

You can't make an appointment. We got in line at 3:45 on a Thursday. My 2 children were done before 5:00. At 4:00 they stopped letting anyone else in so they could finish the customers in line. Michael told people to come back in the morning.

It was a highlight of our trip. My son had his hair spiked with green gel and Michael put a green Mickey on the back of his head. He also threw on a lot of Pixie Dust. My daughter got a great bob cut by Billie. She put a lot of clips in it along with some pixie dust.

:D

I walked in a few minutes after it opened and sat down right away. It was a great experience and I am going to make this a new tradition every time I return.

Our two sons did this last October. It was great!! We did have to wait over an hour . It was all good though, because as we left the barber shop, the parade was coming through and we got an excellent view from right outside the shop! And of course, many of the characters stopped and made over the boys sparkly heads!!
You have to try a cut at the barber shop, it's worth the wait!

My husband got his hair cut last Sept. We walked in one late afternoon day and there were only 2 people waiting. Waited maybe 30 mins. We just peeked in every day or two until it looked not as busy. it was fun.

This is only my third time to Disney so I didn't know about this Barber Shop. That sounds like FUN! I think we might try that. Is it very expensive?

Is there a place we could look to see the fees/services offered at the Barber Shop?

My husband and my son got their first haircuts there. ;) I found if we went right at opening, everyone migrated there so we waited and had great luck getting in right away around parade time.

Men's/Women's cuts are $15
Kid's cuts are $12

The first haircut includes a haircut, certificate, lock of hair, and First Haircut Mickey Ears (very nice). That is also only $12. I have some pictures of our experience here...

My husband got an extra surprise with his haircut and the woman put blue gel in his hair and pixie dust (glitter). She made a mickey head out of blue gel in the back of his hair. It was really cute and he would do it again. There are pictures of his hair too. ;)

Hope this helps!

They also have this cool glow-in-blacklight gel. Its a very light green but you really couldn't see it on my son's hair and face until we went into Buzz Lightyear which has a lot of Blacklight.

As you can see from this picture, Micheal (the barber) had a lot of fun cutting my son's hair. He managed to put some gel on my son's face and ears. Everywhere there was gel, he glows. :D

We went first thing in the morning and only had to wait for one person in front of us.

Have Fun!!

Thanks for all the responses! We'll just play it by ear and see what happens. I would love for my 8 month old to get a hair cut too but unfortunately he barely has any hair!

Thanks again!

We had all 3 of our ds's hair cut there last August. We went early in the am and only had to wait for 10-15 minutes. It was raining too so I think that more people chose to hang out there at the time. It was the first haircut for my then 9mth old. We could not have planned it better if we tried. He did not have a lot of hair, but I was determined that this would be his first haircut. He got in the chair and was fussing a bit when the Dapper Dans walked in. They sang right in front of him and was mesmerized. No moving no fussing. It was a Disney Moment to remember. He received a certificate, first haircut mouseears and locks of hair for his baby book along with an entire strip of stickers. The older boys also go stickers and a lot of pixie dust that was really hard to get out. They all have blond hair so it really stood out. We will definately do it again.

We're making it a tradition too. I got there around 10 I think, and waited over two hours. I was bound and determined to get it cut there (was getting it lopped off for the Locks of Love program) Michael cut it and did a great job - first haircut in my adult life I've liked. I still keep the style he gave me in October.

I heartily recommend going there first off. If you're lucky, the barbershoppers will come in and sing for you, too.
