I have heard a lot of people talk about a haircut place at WDW where kids could get their first haircut. We are going in November and my niece has a full head of hair that has been waiting for a cut. Where is this place and what is it called. Any info would be appreciated!

The place I'm thinking of is the Main Street Barber Shop. It's on Main street USA right beside the firestation. But I don't know if that is what you have in mind for your neice. I believe the GF has something really special for little girls in their salon, but since I only have a son right now I must confess I really don't know a lot about it.

 GF=Grand Floridian has a beautiful salon but it doesn't seem Disney themed to me. It seems like an upscale hair/nail salon. You could always call the hotel directly and they will put you through so you can ask about any special programs. My 2 kids had their 1st hair-cuts done on Main Street at the barbershop and it was wonderful.

duh I knew that.. Sorry slow morning and doesn't help that I have mommy/pregnant brain going on.

I think we will probably do the Main Street Barber, they can do girls right?

Yes, they do girls.

DD (6 at the time) had her first haircut there in 2004, complete with Ears, colored Mickey Head & pixie dust. Since it was Christmas time, they put a candy cane in her pony tail too. (It was obvious that she had never had her hair cut before)

Last month she had a trim (only the 2nd time she's had a haircut) and they really piled on the pixie dust! Her pony tail was completely covered in it. Definitely drew alot of attention.

My DD(2) has had her hair cut 4x...3 of them have been at Disney. We go to the Barber Shop right on Main Street. For the first hair cut, they get a certificate stating it is their first haircut, a mickey ears hat that says first haircut on the back, and we got the Mickey Head confetti.

The last time she had her hair cut in WDW they put pixie dust in her hair along with the mickey confetti. I was still finding the pixie dust stuck to her scalp almost a month later. I won't let them do that again.

They do a wonderful job is all of the experiences that we have had there. They know how to "go with the flow" and cut as they go.

We had her hair cut in a regular salon here and the girl kept trying to get my DD to face the mirror all of the time. At Disney they just constantly move around as the child is looking around and doing things.

I would reccomend it. It is $14.95 I think...not too bad.

Good luck and have fun

Michaela
