I know there is a barbershop in MK. But, is there a beauty shop for girls if we want to give DD7 and DD2 haircut? If not in MK,which resort salon and spa would you recommend? We're staying at WL this week.

Thanks.

For girls that age I would just take them to the MK barber shop. They do girls cuts there too (and adults actually.)

We always considered it, but when it came down to it we had other things we wanted to do with the time. We just get our hair cuts ahead of time.

However if you want you can get girls hair cut there with no problems. I belive the hair dressers are rather talented. (and it is really well priced, you won't get such a deal at any of the salons, at least I am assuming.)

I agree...the barber shop has wonderfully talented people in their staff. My DD's have gotten their hair cut there before.

And as an extra, after they get their haircut they get Mickey sprinkles and glitter!!!

We had our DD's hair braided at GF salon . It was lovely. Also great hairdressers at BCV and Coronado Springs Pricey though!

I heard the barber shop will also put gel that temporarily colors their hair if they want. We were going to take my nieces there on our last trip, but never remembered to do it once we got there. Maybe I'll take my niece when we go in January. :)

Funny, I was just talking about this today. My DS6 needs a haircut so I've decided to wait the 13 days and let him get it cut on Main St. My DD3 will be very jealous so I was wondering if they would do like a "hairstyle", braids or something for her. has anyone had their dauthers hair done there before. does anyone recall the cost?

thanks, wendy

Thanks for the suggestions.

Today, DW and I decided to just be lazy and take the girls to the barber shop on Main Street to get their haircuts. The ladies there were very patient and nice. Cut/trim - $14 per kid. NOT BAD PRICE for the crap they have to put up with including constant hovering parents, cameras and videocamcorders going on at all times (yes, I am guilty of this), and distractions from the outside (i.e. the 3 PM parade was going by at the time). Not sure if they do braids. The lady did put DD2's hair up in little pigtails for free.

DW noticed that no one in front of us tipped. Is this norm? We still did. $3/kid, but thought that it was strange no one else did. The lady was thankful.

Oh, BTW, the barber shop only takes cash. No cards or room charges whatsoever. They use an old cash register so no credit card or room charge processing machines.

When we had DGD's first haircut there we tipped $3, just assumed that everyone did and we were very pleased with how she took her time and made sure baby was comfortable.

We took two of our kids DS13 and DD9 there last Monday (11/21) for their hair cuts. If you get the gel and pixie dust in the hair it's $5 on top of the $14 cut. You can also just get the gel and pixie dust for $5 w/ no hair cut.

We were able to use a credit card. They have one of the old slide machines for credit cards. We also tipped and the woman were genuinely appreciative.

There was only one person in front of us when we got there so in all I think we were there about an hour. It was well worth it. The kids had fun, the woman working in the shop were having fun and one of the characters even stopped by while doing autographs outside.

We had several people commenting on their hair and the gel/glitter while we were walking around. One woman even came up to us and asked where we had it done, etc.

If I can figure out how to post pictures I will do that later.

Can you make appointments or is it first come, first serve?

Does anyone know how late they are there? We won't be getting to the MK until about 4 pm (for MVMCP) - the park closes at 6 that day.

It is first come first serve.

I was told the hours are 11-4 (or 5), can't remember which.

I usually get my hair cut there when I'm down there. I'm BADLY in need of a hair cut right now but I'll be there Friday so I think I can hold out. I would suggest making it your first stop, however, as it tends to get crowded throughout the day.

And, yes, they can put gel in your hair to color it. They also can paint a Mickey head on you (I usually get this) they'll sprinkle pixie dust on ya. All in all, a great value for a good time.
