Hair Wraps

My DD and her friend had them done last summer at AKL. We have also had them done at BC.
I'm pretty sure I've seen the hair wrap stations at all of the resorts, and also at the water parks, but I'm not sure about MK, AK, MgM or Epcot.

And it ain't cheap!!!!!! DD has med. long hair and it cost over 30.00.

It was $1.50 / inch plus beads at AK in Oct 03.

Cost us $24 for DD but it was worth it. It was still looking good after 3 weeks but then we had to take it out for school.

I think that they have them at every resort. It is not that expensive either i noticed that HARAMBE said it costed over $30 but i have curly hair goes to my mid back and it it only costed me $17.

My daughter had one done last October over by POC in the Magic Kingdom. It was only 15 dollars for about 10 inches and beads. It stayed in great-about two months until she was sick of it and then I took it out. It was amazing to me how they wrapped her hair so fast. I think I may get one next time as well as her. They also did them out by the pool at our resort (ASMusic).

We had it done at AKL, and DD did pick out some fancy-schmancy beads and such. So I'm sure that's what put us over the 30.00 mark! The thing that drives me crazy about her, is that she wants to take it out after about a week! So it just doesn't seem worth the money!

MY DD is so excited to get another hair wrap. Her first was when she was 4 and her hair was past her shoulders. We just washed the wrap along with her hair and it stayed in from April until early September. Does anyone know if they do braids anywhere or is it just wraps?

Hi we have seen them at CBR, AKL, and our last one was in DTD.

The last time we were there (Nov 2003), they were still doing hair wraps at MK near the Pirates of the Carribbean attraction. DD had to have hers done and I think it cost $25. She has shoulder length hair and got lots of beads.

I will not let her take it out for several weeks since it is not cheap to get one. I would recommend, however, that you get one behind the ear (underneath the hair) rather than on top of the head. She always insists on getting one that starts up on top of her head and when we cut it off, she has this weird little piece of hair that has to grow back! LOL

I got a hair wrap done 2 years ago on the Board Walk. I agree with the writer above...get one under hte ear so you can just cut it off at the end.

My girls just had hair wraps done late Feb on the Boardwalk one evening - I think they start about 5 o'clock. It was indeed $1.50 per inch plus beads, we kept it simple and it was $14 for one girls and $16 for the other. fwiw- one is still in and looks great the other slid off after 3 weeks. They had them done underneath by the ear so we can cut it out if necessary.

I also saw the hair wrap stands at the animal kingdom and MK - in the gift shop at the exit from POC. There is a stand near stormalong bay at the bc/yc but I am not sure its daily. CR also had a stand but only did the wraps on Thus-Sat.

For the hair braids you need to make an appointment at one of the hair salons - its time consuming and pricey. I know the CR and the Dolphin have a salon, I am sure there are others.

For our trips when the girls want the braids done we usually make an appointment to have it done around here a day or so before we leave. Its cheaper, both girls can have it done at the same time and we don't waste precious vacation time. Call around and ask if they do corn row braids!

tjmw2727,
You are a genius! That is a great idea, my boys need haircuts anyway. You are so right, to stand around waiting for her to get her braids done would take forever!

My DDs loved getting their hair wrapped, but it has just gotten way to expensive. They both have hair waaay down their backs. Last time it was nearly 100.00 for the two of them. The wraps stayed in for nearly 3 and a half months but still.

Hair wrapping is easy to do yourself...just purchase DMC embroidery floss and desired beads. The only tricky part is getting the top started. The $$$ for hair wraps at WDW is crazy.

You could have a "pre-trip" party the night before you leave. Get hair wraps done by a local hairdresser (many know how) and then get maincures or peticures with "mickey" or other disney friends. This would be a lot of fun, plus it would save lots of $$$ and precious vacation time.

I saw hair wrapping done in many places.

I just wanted to say that my DD had her hair braided (just the front part) in corn rows at the Beach Club and they did a fantastic job. She had her hair braided many times but the Beach Club did the best job I've ever seen.
$45.00 for the front.
$60.00 for the whole head.

omg - you guys seriously cut it out? yikes!

I had one done once (started at the top of my head - cost about $40 after tip I think) and I left it in for nearly a month. It took me nearly 45 minutes to unwrap it...yes my hair was rather nasty underneath and a bit broken at the roots...but I would never dream of just cutting it out...no matter where it was on my head.

I've always wanted to get it done, but never have. Has anyone had any problems with having light blonde hair done? Always wondered if the thread used might run when washed & dye lighter hair all kinds of crazy colors. Anyone have any bad experiences with this?

Maybe I'll splurge this year & go for it! :D

i have highlights in my hair and personally have never had problems with the thread "bleeding" colors.

you think i would notice it on white hotel towels - but nope, no probs!
