My hair is driving me crazy. It is well conditioned, been recently cut, and feels very soft. The problem? It looks frizzy or fuzzy. I've had this problem since we moved 7 months ago. I'm convinced it is the change in the water. (Had probs with my hair when we moved the last time).

I've also had a baby in the last 18 months, a perm, and highlights. My hair dresser has no idea what to do for me. Some of you may have read my earlier posts, my hairdresser just lost her dh to a 3 yr battle with cancer. So my hair concerns really aren't a priority to her.

At my last haircut she decided my hair texture has changed. She told me to not dry it or use styling tools. I tried that, it dries frizzy/fuzzy/puffy. I use frizz ease, it works some.

I'm just tired of it. It looks good the day after I wash it. But you can't go thru life "the day after a wash."

Anyone else have this problem? frivolous problem I know, but mine all the same. ;)

My best friend's mother told me that she read that your hair changes every 7 or so years. I don't know how old you are so I don't know if this can be the case for you. I do know it was for me. Right around the time I turned 21, my hair became much curlier and surprisingly more managable.

I see you said no styling tools. Does that mean products as well? Because if not, I would suggest a type of mousse or gel. I use a combination of mousse and leave in conditioner and I have gotten my hair down to a T.

I also use a diffuser attachment but I'm assuming you're not allowed to use that, but when you are given the okay, I would suggest trying the diffuser. You can get one at your local beauty supply store for under 5 dollars.

Hope this helps.

I have naturally wavy hair that frizzes almost every day due to the humidity where I live. The best thing I ever did was buy a ceramic straightening iron (the ones with metal plates DID not work). It only takes a few minutes to straighten and smooth my hair, and it stays that way until my next shampoo. No more frizzies!

I moved from Indiana to cincinnati, ohio and yes the water was different here. we used a water softener there and i loved my hair, more managable and soft. Now here it is frizzy and flyaway, and and i have my hair highlighted. I use a ceramic flat iron hair straighter too. It a wigo brand , i spray shaper on by sebastian it, it's for hot tools it protects your hair and no more frizzy flyaway hair. My dd uses the same as i . good luck

I too have very curly dry hair. I agree with the mousse, it works wonders for my hair. Also, I use baby oil on my body after a shower so what I do it put a few drops in my hand and smooth it through the ends of my hair! It seems to help me. Try it some weekend when your staying home just in case it looks too greasy for you.

Augh, I would just love some hair to play with again!! I am starting to get little fuzzies in (which is funny, because just finished my last round of chemo, and have been growing hair for about 3 weeks now!!). When DH and I are watching TV, every short hairstyle I come across I am constantly asking him if he likes it, so I can determine what kind of 'do I want! I am just waiting to see what color and texture it comes in like (and hopefully with no grays in there!).

BabyTigger-Congrats on finishing Chemo and enjoy those fuzzies. ;) Soon your hair might look like this...

IloveDMB-I turned 35 this summer~the same time my hair weirded out. Hmm....

I am still drying my hair and using a straightening iron. It is a cheap one but it works. Kind of hard to let it dry naturally when it's 10 degrees outside.

mrsmom-I'll try the Sebastien shaper
MAC3-and I'll try the baby oil

I just want sleek, smooth hair........like I had as a child. Oh the things we wish for that we hated when we had..........:earsgirl:

My hair is curly, dry and frizzy if I don't do anything after my shower but comb it. I make sure and deep condition it every day, and I use citre shine serum. I use a lot of it. It does tame my hair and hides any damaged ends, which need cut off as soon as I can.

What kind of straightening iron are you using, pembo? If it is not ceramic, maybe your hair is getting damaged the more you use it and that is what is causing the extra frizz. Every hairdresser I have talked to recommends a good ceramic one...they aren't as damaging as metal ones and they straighten so much better. In fact, ceramic ones are recommended for frizzies because they emit negative ions (or is positive...I forget) that help to smooth and tame the frizzies.

Like mrsmom, I use a good serum to help protect and shine my hair before I straighten. I use Biosilk Silk Therapy, but I've heard that Sebastian is really good.

Just a thought.

My hair texture changed when we moved too. I have 2 suggestions. I use a shampoo called Ion which is a straightening shampoo. It works really well. I got it at Sally Beautly Supply, I'm not sure if there is a Sally where you live, but you could probably get it at any beauty supply. I also have used a product called Str8 by Rusk which also works really well. Good luck!!

Talk about change. After chemo my hair grew back curly, never was before. Now that it's about 3 inches long it is becoming unrully and I don't have a clue what to do with it. But, who's complaining any hair is better than none. I went all last winter bald, that's one hair style that is easy to manage LOL

Some of your problem could be the water you use to wash your hair, as well. I'm am very lucky to have long, staright hair, but one of my friends uses bottled water to wash her hair, because our high mineral deposits affect her hair.

She doesn't go overboard, or anything, just uses the 5 gallon bottles of spring water from the supermarket and she swears by it. Even takes it traveling with her when she can.

HTH

My hair tends to dry out more in the winter months. It doesn't frizz, it just gets a lot of static elecricity. Are you using a different kind of heat to keep warm where you're living now?
