Hair style tipping ?

Go for it!!! If you can afford it why shouldn't you enjoy treating yourself?

The way I always justify my haircuts is, that I "wear" my hair everyday (unlike clothes which obviously change ) and if I think my hair looks good then I think I look good. Hope that makes sense!

DH would tell you all though that I did spend years dyeing my hair myself and letting various people cut it for free  As Madjock says, it's about what you choose to spend your money on

It costs me about £3 to park when I go and have my hair done, and I think my hairdresser is worth at least that - hence the fiver tip.

That sounds reasonable to me.
I usually pay £40 for a cut and blowdry and leave a £3 tip. It's a small price to pay to look and feel good. :)

WOW i have never tipped my hairdresser and now i feel so bad. I never realised how many people tip. Maybe next time i will try and part with a little extra money and tip him as he always does a fab job :guilty:

Magicmouse, provided you're happy with how much you pay and tip, I say "Go for it!!!" :cool1:

I only go to a small salon and pay about £22 and give £2 or £3 tip for a cut and blow dry. When I have my hair highlighted, which is about every 4-5 months, I pay £60 and usually give the hairstylist £5 tip. As its only a small salon, she washes it as well, so I don't mind tipping her that.

My mum used to be a hairdresser many moons ago!LOL and she always used to be taxed on her tips. Don't know if the taxman still does this but it was always seen as part and parcel of being a hairdresser, that's why they are always paid low wages.

At the risk of sounding like a Big Girls Blouse (No offence ladies) My hair costs me about £55 to have it cut and coloured. I usually leave a £5 tip for the stylist and a £5 tip for the colourist, don't tell DW though

LOL, Alan - you could only admit that on a Disney board! :teeth:

Pssst! Now you know we wouldn't deliberately drop you in it, but just thought I should let you know that it might be a bit tricky for us to keep this one to ourselves.

i usually tip £5+, but that's cos my hair takes 3 hours at the very least cos its so long. my colour costs about £60/70 every 6 months or so, my mums friend cuts it for free.

can i just say, i think its quite offensive when people say things like "you've got more money than sense", etc. it's the same as saying "oh you're so poor", and there's really no need for it.
