After reading the rave reviews of the Chi straightening irol, I just bought one. What styling products should I use with it? My daughter has waist length, wavy, frizzy hair that is super, super thick. There is so much hair and bulk and frizz that she often braids it. Is there a product that would be a good accessory when using the straightener? Thanks!

I have shoulder length naturally curly hair and I use the Chi or BioSilk oil. My sister in law is a hair stylist and recommends both of these products when I flat iron my hair.

I'm the assistant manager at a hair salon/beauty supply store and I have to recommend Moroccan Oil! AMAZING!
We sell a 100mL bottle for $36.95, you might be able to find it cheaper. But it is worth EVERY penny! Biosilk would be my second choice.
A straightening balm or lotion would help too.

Apply a small amount of Moroccan Oil to her wet hair, just from mid-hair shaft to her ends, applying most to her ends. Start with maybe a quarter size then decide if you need more. Then blow dry with a round brush or a paddle brush, it will make a huge difference. Section the hair and do it properly! Using a professional blow dryer will also help smooth the hair eliminate frizz! Then same thing with flat ironing, section the hair and be patient.

When her hair is all straight and wonderful apply a little more Morrocan Oil or Biosilk to her hair, again mid-hair shaft to her ends, applying most at the ends.

Her hair will stay straight until she washes it again, a lot of women leave it for a week!

I'm also a stylist who happens to have the same hair type as your DD, OP. I second these product recs!! BioSilk Silk Therapy is my "stranded on a desert island" product. ;)

I, too, am a Moroccan Oil devotee! I have thick, coarse, frizzy hair and it makes my hair smooth and shiny!

I have a question about this too. I hair that is in a chen length layered cut, fine and color treated. It is pretty straight anturally ,but tends to flip in weird directions on the ends so I use a chi to get the ends in line. It tends to look weighted down and greasy with too much product in it. I am curently using redken outshine on wet hair, blow drying, and then using the chi. It does ok as far as staying straight, but I would love to have something that would give me a little more volume without being stiff and sticky. Any suggestions??

Make sure you're not applying any of the Redken product to your roots! Blow drying with a round brush will give you more volume and make your hair very light, letting it air dry will make it heavier.

I would also suggest a volumizing foam. Redken has one, it's a part of their BodyFull line. I think it's called Carbo-Booster? But any light volumizing foam won't be greasy and will give you volume. You just pump one or two pumps into your hands and rub them together, then apply with your fingertips to your wet roots, lightly, don't rub it in like shampoo or anything ahhaha. Then section off and blow dry (with a round brush).

Also be careful when you wash your hair! You're supposed to massage your shampoo into your scalp and all through the hair shaft but make sure when you condition you JUST focus on the ends. Only apply the conditioner mid-hair shaft to ends. You don't want to condition your roots. You have natural oils that do that for you. And make sure you're using a light, volumizing shampoo and conditioner. I suggest using a professional brand because drugstore brands have a lot of oily fillers. If you like Redken then use their BodyFull shampoo & conditioner.

i use an iron every other day, i usually use a cream by tressemme, but not that happy lately, think i'll try this moroccan oil - do u like it better than biosilk?

As a hairstylist, I like Moroccan oil 10,000x better than Biosilk. I also like Moroccan oil hydrating cream and often use the two together.

Yah I definitely like Moroccan Oil better than BioSilk. I use Moroccan Oil the most out of all my hair products, but I still use BioSilk sometimes.

And yes, like a PP said, the Moroccan Oil Hydrating Cream is great! I don't have curly hair but I know their curl cream is awesome too!! Anytime we get a shipment it sells out in a few days. Great for thick crazy curls. And their treatment masks are AMAZING!!!! Overall, great products!!!
