Hair/Makeup & Florida Humidity

OK - these questions are for those of you that live in the WDW/Florida area, who visit gazillions of times(I'm SOOOO jealous) or hair stylist/makeup artists(Lynn-PRETTY PLEASE )comes to mind but anyone else is welcome) - or anyone else that can help out:

HAIR: I have VERY naturally curly long hair. I live in west Texas where it is generally very dry(humidity is less that 20% most of the time). My hair is in long layers which allows me to wear it curly without it being frizzy or if I do blow it out straight with a little mouse/gel it will stay that way. I need advise on what to do with my hair or what products to use that will combat the Florida humidity. I am not really worried about the heat since our wedding is November. But there is nothing more frustraiting than spending an hour straightening your hair than to walk outside & have it start making all kinds of crazy waves. I don't think I'm even going to try wearing it curly becuase of the FRIZ-FACTOR.

Makeup: Can anyone suggest products that will help my makeup(foundation) stay put? I am willing to look @ new foundations or if anyone knows of some product that will help my current foundation stay in place?

Any assistance, tips, or suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated

I don't wear foundation so I can't help you there. But for the five years I lived in south florida I can tell you that I wore my hair up the majority of the time. You can tell from my pics that I too have long curly hair. I can also tell you from experience that the only way my hair would stay straight and frizz free (the pic with my hair straight is from Florida) would be to straighten it with a ceramic iron and use serum. The ceramic would help seal the cuticles so it wouldn't frizz as easy. Good luck...I hate the humidity. Oh FYI...when I moved from Tx to Ft Lauderdale, my hair and skin went through hell for about a year before it got used to it...ugh...no fun!

Awww...I'm blushing here!! You are too sweet...it's funny how we never feel that way about ourselves. I don't know about being a super model, but my oldest son calls me Super Mom...and that's good enough for me!

ok my siggy pic is my hair in Florida curly on a humid day. My hair is super curly and super thick. All I use it hair mousse and hairspray and I let my hair air dry. So if my hair can hold the curl without getting frizzy I say that anybody can get away with having their hair curly in the humidity.




Here is my hair on a humid day and all I used was a ceramic flat iron and chi silk infusion.(sorry it is a bad pic but this was a good shot of my hair)

If I were you I would not even bother if it is really humid down there but if you really want to I think you should get Paul Mitchell Heat Seal, you put it in before you blow dry it. It helps to keep the hair from getting too frizzy on a humid day. We use it in the salon and I think it works great.

I don't know how humid it will be in November but I know that the high temp is 79 and with no humidity you should be fine.

Ditto! As you can see in my pic I'm outside in May with curly hair...I usually don't have much problem with the curls unless it was SUPER humid or raining. But in november, you shouldn't have much problem. I use Frizz-Ease serum on my wet hair and then pantene curl defining mousse and follow it off with a little stong hold pantene hair spray...nothing too expense and it works just fine for me. Sunsilk also makes a great gel-conditioner (De-frizz in a green bottle) that I sometimes use in the morning after I've slept on my hair or mid-day for a freshen up...it really seems to tame things up and make my hair soft...not stiff. I get complimented on my curls all the time. It's funny, I hated my hair growing up but now that I've learned to manage it I feel lucky to have the curly locks! Oh and my iron in a turbo chi...it was expense but soooo worth it. I think you can find them on ebay though much cheaper.

Well let's see what I can offer on the makeup front: I'm pretty sure I've heard that Lisa uses a spray fixative of some sort after she applies your makeup, so maybe you could Google that. I use DHC's Velvet Skin coat under foundation to keep from getting shiny, but I've never been any place so humid that my makeup slides off. You could try setting it well with powder in the morning (hard, I know, cuz you can end up looking cakey!) and then using oil-absorbing blotting sheets by Clean & Clear, Shiseido, etc. throughout the day. They won't disturb your makeup.

Thanks so much Lurkyloo but I don't wear powder becuase as you said it always turns into such a mess. I might try to look for the spray fixative you suggested.

Hi, I wanted to share that I just got married and did my make up myself. I used "Model in a Bottle" to set my make up and it did a wonderful job! I searched the net for something and this product was shown on oprah and Tyra.
