I recently got my hair highlighted, but I'm not entirely happy with the results and want to add some more to it. I went to the salon about 3 weeks ago and asked for highlights that would give me a lighter look. I usually color my hair red and add some do it yourself highlights. She did foil highlights, but she talked me out of putting red for the base color. She said the highlights might turn out yellow looking, so she put on a medium brown. The end result was that my hair looked darker overall than it did when I went in. There were highlights, but the hair underneath was so dark, it made the highlights almost look grey.
I want to go back and get more highlights, and I'd like for my hair underneath to have just a hint of red. Is this possible and will it look good?

In fact, I get the most compliments about my hair now from women in their 70's. I'm 37, so I don't want to look like a senior citizen yet. I about fainted the other day when my stepmother told me she liked my "frosted" hair!
