Hair Braids - where???

We are staying at POP in January. We can I get hair braids for my two girls. Near POP or DTD (names of places please). Need reservations???

If you want the braids - or (cornrows) you need to find one of the beauty salons in the deluxe resorts and make an appointment. IIRC, Contemporary, GF, S&D and the GF have salons.

My dd's love them for vacation and I do too - neat and no fuss!! We usually make an appointment here at home a day or two before we leave to have them done. Less $$ and no time wasted from our vacation (it takes a LONG time).

If your talking about the wraps - a strand or two from the hair wrapped in colorful string with beads that can be done everywhere. POP probably has a stand by the pool as do most of the parks and resorts.

If you are talking about the wraps of color you will find them EVERYWHERE in the world .. almost always by the pools but in the parks and other places as well. DD loved hers and it stayed in for 4 months before we cut it out for her dance recital.

It's basically colored string wrapped around the hair (maybe 20-30 strands?) and tied at the end...bead optional. Keep in mind they charge by the inch and the beads are extra! DD has very long hair so I did hers the last few years on the plane! It worked great (if I do say so myself) last year we did Mickey colors (she wanted them) red, black, yellow and white with a little Mickey earring part made into a "bead". The book I got with instructions was by Kuntz.

We always have ours done at the Wilderness Lodge - right by the pool - be sure they do it with hair underneath by the scalp line (like behind either ear) - otherwise you'll have a horrendous time fixing their hair otherwise.

I have to agree with you on this. Hair braiding does cost a fortune when on vacation. I am gonna get me girls hair done BEFORE we leave this time for sure. We paid almost $45 a kid last time we were at Disney.

One word of caution if your girls never had their hair braided before.....
make sure you put a tiny row of sunscreen in between each braid. Anywhere you can see scalp, the girls will get burned. We learned this the hard way once.

I actually prefer the braids over the wraps. The wraps kind of look grungy after a few days (the ones my girls got did anyways) while the braids (if done properly) keep their shape for the entire length of our vacation and beyond.

I had my DDs hair braided, not wrapped at City Walk Universal ! It lasted the whole week we were there and a week after we got home without it looking scraggly ! she LOVED it !!!
