My DD wants to get her hair braided when we visit the Mouse. Can any of you give me some suggestions where hair braiding is done at the parks?

Thanks.

Only 20 more days!!!!!!! :rockband:    :dancer:

We saw them doing hair braiding in Blizzard Beach at $1.50 per inch plus the cost of beads

Thanks Disney Time. How about at MK, Epcot, MGM or AK? We don't plan on going to the water parks.

Are you talking about the braid like cornrows or hairwrapping where a small section of the hair is wrapped in colorful thread?? My DD gets her hairwrapped every visit. She would love to get it braided, but we've never seen anyone doing it.

I have two daughters. And they both love getting their hair braided at Disney. Beach Club - best place for us. The day we're in Epcot, we just walk out of the park, down the sidewalk and the hair braiding station is just before you get to the Stormalong Bay. ANd yes, it's $1.50 per inch and an additional charge for beads. And the ladies are always so nice to tell me how much the beads cost! THis past time my 7 year old daughter had chosen two $5 beads and 1 $15 bead!! OH NO!!! We did make another selection!!!

Anyway, I paid $20 each. For us that is a "cheap" souvenir.

They also have the hairwrap stand at the Boardwalk. Same price $1.50 an inch, beads extra. My dd's waited in line an hour in June.

Last May both of my daughters got their hair braids in front of Pirates of the Caribbean in MK. I would assume that stand is still there.

Wow the price is getting cheaper. On another post I was told it was anywhere from $2.00 to $3.00 per inch plus beads. I also said that I would need to take out a loan due to my 5 year old having hair over 30 inches and my 7 year old around the 26 inch mark. I was looking at around $175.00 for their hair to get done.

I would also love to hear about hairwrapping. What would the cost of this be? Does anyone have photo's of it being done? Also after taking out braids; does it ruin your hair at all? It's just that my youngest would be devestated if her hair had to be cut "alot" do to the braids.

Thanks for any help.

If you are looking for cornrows I would suggest to find a beauty school and have them done before you leave. Here at the school I asked for someone who knew what she was doing and we had my dd's hair done in about 15 min for $10. You can't beat that price and we had more money for Disney. :sunny:

I don't post pictures often, so I hope this works. Here is my DD with her hair wrap in '02. You can't see the end where she had some beads and a dangling charm.

I think the only place that does hair braiding is the beauty salon at the GF.

Hair wrapping is done at the resort pools, and theme parks.

My dd's usually costs $45.00.

awhhhhhh...I would of loved to see the picture but it didn't work. I know people have told me to use www.photobucket.com maybe try that. :confused3

I guess what I am looking for is the stands that put the beads on. It seems that's what she has seen on other girls. Cornrows was not what we had in mind. It looks like I've got a few areas where this can be done thanks to you guys. :sunny:

If you have other parks or areas let me know.

They do it at the Wl pool, seemed very popular. One lady said her daughters longish hair wrap cost her 40.00, the other child with shorter hair, about 25.00. Her bubby thought it was like 10.00 a pop. He was NOT amused, but the kids loved it. :rotfl2:

Note: braiding process is painful, girls that I saw were crying, even the older ones. DD says from now on she'll stick with wrapping. ;) You also need to apply sunscreen to the areas of the head that are exposed or the child can get a nasty sunburn.

For whoever asked earlier, wraps can stay in for several weeks. Twice we've had them break off, ripping her hair and leaving a small bald spot for a while. The most recent time I unwrapped it when I saw the hair starting to rip but she still got to enjoy it for a few weeks. OTOH, I met a young girl this week who's had hers since her April trip to WDW and it still looked great!

wow thanks for the photo's and details too. Not sure if I want the girls to have it done or not. I'm afraid that it will ruin their hair. :confused3

My SIL who's a hairdresser had me really worried about the hair braiding ruining DD's hair. At her urging I took the beads and braids out about a week after we got home and her hair was surprisingly completely fine. Believe me, hair is important to me, LOL, but with either of these your DDs hair should be ok, especially if you don't leave them in too long. For whoever mentioned it earlier, the hair needn't be cut either.

If you're having it done at your hotel just be sure to check the operating times. We found the place at AKL on our first day. We were walking around looking for hidden mickeys. I promised my DD that she could have it done during our resort day. When we went to have it done, it turns out that at AKL the hair wrap station was only open on Saturdays and Sundays.
We went to DTD to have it done. The wrap lasted about 2 months and finally just slid out all in one piece (kind of neat looking).
Her hair wrap was $20 with all the beads included (probably the most expensive part) since my DD5 was kind enough to cut her own hair prior to the trip and it was still growing in. :scared: :scared:
