Hair braiding

Can anyone tell me how much they charge at the MK barbershop to braid a girls hair??? We're getting my son a hair cut there and thought maybe to get the girls hair braided too. Also we usually stay at Holiday Inn Fam. SUites and I read somewhere that they have a kids "spa" anyone know what they offer and how much???10 days left to go!!!!!

We did not get hair braids, I am not sure if they do them, but 2 of my girls got hair wraps at AK in March. They also do them at most of the resort pools, I'm not sure about MK though. The hair wraps were mega $$$$, one was 37$ and the other 39$. They charge by length of hair and the beads you pick out. Youngest DD6 hair wrap fell out a few days later. DD11 kept hers for several weeks and then we cut it out. I hope someone else can tell you if they do braiding. We followed our WDW trip with a few days at Clearwater Beach and many place there were offering braiding.

We let my 14yo DD get her hair braided two summers ago, though it wasnt at the MK Barber Shop (cant seem to remember exactly where she had it done, but it was in Disney). Her hair is just above her shoulders, and it took 2 hours, and it cost $120

She did love it, though, and kept it for a few weeks before it started to come out a bit.

Ok well so much for that idea ..lol guess we will just take a bunch of scrunchies!!! I can think of a million other things at WDW I would rather spend 40+ bucks on then hair braids!! Thanks for the input!!

We had my daughter's hair cut and braided at the barbershop the last two years. There was no extra cost beyond the normal charge of the haircut.

Last year she got a single braid down the back. The year before she got a braid across the top of her head that went from one side to the other (I can't remember the name for it). It was really cute!

If your talking about the "cornrow" type braids I am not sure the MK barbershop does these. The beauty salons at the deluxe resorts will do them but by appt only. It is pricey from $4-6 per braid for 1/2 head and more for whole head.

To save time and $$ I have had my dd's done before leaving at a local salon, the charge is more like $1-4 per braid.

You can always do one of the colorful hair wraps for your dd! Many of the resorts offer this at the pool, MK and AK have wrapping stands as well as on the Boardwalk. My dd's had it done at the Boardwalk in Feb and it lasted until April. The charge was $1.50 per inch plus beads.

I was just looking for a basic french braid for her...She has longer hair so $1.50 and inch is not an option....I would do it myself but #1 I am all thumbs when it comes to braiding her hair (even our local hair stylists have trouble its very thick and smooth) and #2 I read that they will braid it and do the pixie dust thing so you know its more the experience anyways...thanks...

No personal experience here....but read another thread at MK barbershop scattering "pixie dust" in kids hair. You can search for that thread. We'll probably try it after doing braids at HIFS...

My daughter got her hair cut and braided at MK Barber shop for under $20. It could have been less maybe $15 anyway this was last Christmas. It was alot of fun.Hope this helps.

It was $15 last year. DD had her first haircut done (by someone else) at Disney and they gave her the princess hair style.

They braided each side of her hair towards the back and added pixie dust. No extra charge and well worth it. She also got a certificate, mickey ears and gave me her hair that was cut.

We received many compliments and some couldn't believe the barbor shop was actually a real one. They thought it was there for looks. A must do for all our trips now at such a reasonable price.

Just a heads-up....we were just down at WDW (6/19 - 27) and wanted to get DD5's hair wrapped at the Polynesian pool area. The young girl doing the wrapping informed me that they are a 3rd party business and could not take my room key (the only thing I had on me) for payment. She was very nice about it but just so you know you need cash or credit - no room key.

My dd had the half-head braids done at the Dolphin for $45. It didn't take long at all for the lady to braid her hair. The braids last for about 2 weeks. I didn't know they did it at MK too.

At the Dolphin, did you have to make an appointment? How far ahead did you have to plan this? Do you know of anywhere else on Disney property to get these done?

I'm all thumbs too, but bought a book (Klutz I think) that showed pictures with step by step instructions. I wasn't good at it right off, but as they say practice makes perfect. I have two daughters and we french braid hair more often than not. It's great fun, single/double/princess braids. They can be as addicting as these boards. Give it a try on your own. I paid someone to do my hair for a long time, but eventually I even managed to french braid my own.
