Hair Braiding?

My two teenaged DDs have asked me to ask all the DIS gurus where in the world they can get their hair braided, and if anyone knows the price? TIA!

They do it at the resorts and at Downtown Disney. They may have CM's doing it inside the Parks but I haven't ever seen it there.

DD had hers done in Magic Kingdom. I remember it was outside of a shop but can't for the life of me remember which one. I do remember it was near the First Aide Station though. I know they used to do it near the Muppets in MGM they also had Temporary Tattoos and face painting. We saw it at The Animal Kingdom Lodge, The Poly and the POR. It was always near the pool. The wait is usually quite long and you need to sign up. DD had hers placed above her ear and on the side so she could "tuck it in" for school. It stayed in for about 3 months until we cut it out for sports. I hope this helps.

I think we might be talking about two different things. Do you mean actual braiding, or hair wrapping? What you'll find at the resorts is hair wrapping where they actually wrap different color string around a section of hair. I don't recall seeing any place where they actually do braiding. If I saw them doing braiding, I'd definitely do it! When we did our honeymoon in Cancun in '99, I had just the top braided - it was great not having to worry about doing my hair!

I know they do the hair wraps at the value resorts near the pool areas. We also found that they do it in the Animal Kingdom on the walkway between the tree of life and camp Minnie-Mickey. Our daughter got her hair done at AK this last trip. The worker said she was with the same contractor as the ones that worked in the resorts. She could not take a tip since she was inside the park and not at the hotels. I think it came to around $15.00 for the hair braid with a couple of cheap beads. It all depends on how long the hair and how many beads one wants in their hair.

I am pretty sure the only place they do the braids is in the salons like GF or CSR. Last year I waited at the barber shop til it opened only to find out they do not do the braiding. I have only seen hair wraps at (AKL and Poly)the resort pools. You might want to find a salon near you where they can get the braids done before you leave, much cheaper and no time wasted out of the trip!

I agree with Mortimor. I was thinking of the single wraps they do as opposed to braiding all hair. I haven't seen anywhere at the resorts that they (or DD) where they braid as opposed to doing wraps.

My daughter had her hair wrapped last year at CBR by the main pool. That was May 25th....we took it out on Xmas Day. Yes, 7 months later!! Can't remember how much it cost sorry but she can't wait for this year to get another one. She has them done in Europe in the summer but they only last about 4 weeks.

I get my hair braided at home before we leave. It's cheaper and then I don't waste time out of my vacation. I'm planning to do this again in September.

I agree.

I'm surprised so many people spend vacation time and money doing something they can have done at home for much less $$$.

The hair wrapping is by the inch... plus beads. Haven't done it in a couple of years, but it was about $20 for medium length hair.

By the way... DO NOT cut them out... just unravel them. It takes about 5 minutes and doesn't leave so many of those short hairs (of which there will be some due to hair breakage where the wrap stops).
