I would NOT recommend using the hair braiders in Nassau. We cruised Jan 27-31. I asked the lady how much it cost to have half their hair braided. I have 2 girls. A four year old with short fine hair and a 10 year old with long thick hair. She told me $3.00 a braid. I said that I wanted medium sized braids. They sat the girls down and started messing with their hair. The lady told me that she could not do thick braids, she could only do thin braids. I asked her how much that would cost and she told me $80 per child. $160. My jaw dropped to the floor. I tried to grab my girls and walk away but she stopped me and said that they would do it for $60 a head if I gave her a nice tip. My husband knew that the girls really wanted their hair braided and we had no idea how much they were charging on the ship. So we agreed. My husband stayed with the girls and I went off to find the Rum Cakes. When I got back my the girls were done and my husband looked a little irritated. I asked him what was wrong. He told me that he handed all of the money to the lady who was talking to us. Both my girls each had their own hair braider. He just assumed that he would give all the money to the one lady and they would split the tip. Apparently that was not the case. The other lady got in his face demanding a tip. To avoid any kind of confrontation in a country that we are not familiar with he pulled out his wallet and gave her a $20 and walked off. When I got back to the ship I decided to see how much they charge on the cruise ship for the hair braiding. They ship charges 1.50 a braid and they have absolutely no problem doing any size braids that you would like. evidently the thin braids was just a ploy to get more money. I thought that the braids would last at least a few weeks. They were falling out before we even got home. Just my advice, if you are looking for hair braiders, stick with the braiders on the ship!
