I'm starting to get a little nervous!! We're down to the single digits today!

DD wants her hair braided... can you make reservations for this (on ship or Castaway Cay) or do you just have to go and wait in line? Wanted to make sure I took care of all ressies I could once we board.

thanks

It was right outside of Common Grounds, deck 9 by the Goofy Pool. They took reservations, you looked through a book and told them what you wanted, then they told you what time space was available. Our friends daughter had it done at 11:30 a.m. on Nassau day on the 3 day cruise. They do the same thing for the 4 and 7 day cruises as I have done those before too. So look for them around 2:30 with a little stand that says hairbraiding appointments being made. Have fun. We just came home yesterday. Don't waist precious time on CC having it done.

On our Magic cruise 7/3 they took reservations at 5:30 by the Walt Disney theatre. I left the deck party and got in line for DD#1. I was about 4th in line--of course a couple of people ahead of me had no idea what they wanted so it took a while. When I got to the head of the line all of the appointments for the first sea day and KW day were gone already--some were concierge bookings.
I booked her at 5PM on Cayman day (since all aboard is at 4:30) and met my family for dinner at 6PM. There were about 15 people behind me booking.
I agree, don't waste time on your CC day waiting for someone to get hair braided! Try to use a sea day if possible, and make sure if you book an evening you don't conflict with one of the major shows you want to see.

One thing I would like to add...TAKE YOUR OWN COMB TO THE RESERVATION! My dd had her hair braided on the ship and a few days after we returned home she had a nice case of head lice. The girl who braided her hair was using the same comb on everyone and not washing it in between uses. So err on the side of caution and take your own comb.

Just to let you know how good of a job they do braiding on the ship..... We were on the 7/17/04 DCL western. I had my hair braided in the headband (crown) style. Here I am one month later and my braids are still in looking great! I hate to think about taking them out. Every morning when I wake up to go to work (ugh!), I smile as I look in the mirror and see my hair. The cruise was so unbelievable and my hair is a very happy reminder of all the good times we had!!

When my DD had her hair braided on the ship, the lady definitely changed combs between customers. She had one of those containers of disinfectant and was putting the used combs in it. I have heard the problems with sanitation on the islands (not CC, just port stops), but not on board the ship before. Not saying it didn't happen, just that it wasn't what I saw.

Can you give me a rough idea of what hairbraiding on the ship costs? My DD5 had her whole head done in Jamaica for $40.00. I'm guessing it will be a little more on the ship. How much is it for just the crown?

Thanks!

It's $2 per cornrow, and $1 per braid. My DD had the crown type, and with tip, I paid $35.
