Ex-DH is upset that our 13 yr old daughter like s boy at school. He was going through her folders with her (since she hasn't been doing her homework) and saw all these notes about how he broke up with her or made her laugh or whatever. She tried the " it wasn't me, it was a friend writing them" but her dad compared her writing to these and forced the truth. I think it's funny since she is 13 and will like boys and boys will like her, she is very pretty, funny, and pretty popular so it will only get worse. I remember what "going out" in 7th grade was like. I never did it til high school but I do remember. They see each other only in school, never talk on the phone or e-mail each other or talk outside of school.

I find it funny he is upset since I don't see the big deal. It is going to happen and will happen more as she gets older. What will he do when I allow her to date? Thank goodness he lives so far away (2 hrs) and won't be here when the boy shows up. My DH will take care of that part, when the boys show up.

Anyone's else have a dad that freaked when their DD's were old enough to start liking boys ?

This is my DD, the blonde on the left, from 2 yrs ago ....

2 hr and nobody has any opinions.... Wow !! That's new for this board.

I think you covered it all ::yes:: .

agnes!

My father did when my older sister started dating. He was in the Navy and didn't get to see her much growing up. I think that he was just shocked that she grew up "so fast".

I think that it depends on why he is upset.

DH had a really hard time dealing with this aspect of our daughter's life. I think a lot of it has to do with the fact she is growing up and starting the break away. DD used to be his little friend and now he's been replaced. I don't think this is uncommon for men to feel this way. He'll adjust. Give him time.

I am the father of a beautiful daughter who is a senior in high school. Luckily for me she is more interested in grades than boys at this time. But she does go out usually in groups. But boys come be from time to time and we have a little talk before they leave. Lets just say I let the boy know how they will be dealing with if there are any problems. She has been raised properly and would not bring home a bum.
