The Wizarding World of Harry Potter will be anchored by the most recognizable landmark in Harry Potter's world: Hogwarts castle. Fans will get the chance to experience some of their favorite locations both within Hogwarts and around the castle grounds when the new land opens at Universal's Islands of Adventure theme park in 2009. The Wizarding World of Harry Potter will feature rides and attractions, as well as shops and restaurants that will enable guests to sample fare from the wizarding world's best known establishments. A number of sharp-eyed fans have spotted the rooftop of a structure rising in Universal Orlando's Wizarding World of Harry Potter that looks an awful lot like Hagrid's Hut, home of the half-giant character from the Potter novels and movies.

Looks like those fans nailed it.

Building permits pulled by Universal for the much-anticipated, highly secretive Potter project show that the resort is indeed constructing Hagrid's Hut. The setting, according to the permits, is being built for Universal by the Nassal Co. of Orlando, which specializes in themed construction projects.

While the permits offer few details, it appears Hagrid's Hut will be mostly for display purposes. The documents suggest the interior of the building will be used for prop storage.

"Hagrid's Hut is an unoccupied themed prop structure," according to one permit description.

When we were there a few weeks ago we could certainly see the signs of what was being constructed. Although there is fencing and boards all around there are enough gaps in it to sneak a peek.
It is also ideally located with it being close to Duelling Dragons and the Unicorn ride.
We are there again in October but I doubt it will be open by then - looks like we will have to wait until 2010.

When's the estimated opening? We're planning a Christmas/NYE trip this year - what's the chances it'll be open?

They are back to saying opening 2009 :confused3 last I heard they had put it back to 2010.

Should be fantastic once completed.

I think it's most definately 2010 for the scheduled opening, that's what I last read when visiting the website about it. I'm hoping it'll be open for when we go in May '10, but there's not been much said only 'Summer' :confused3

I'd read a rumour that it could have soft openings in "late 2009", but judging by the progress so far that's probably unlikely :sad1:

Can't wait to try it though - roll on 2010!!!
