Had to share...After 7 days on Atkins I lost......

13 pounds!!!!!!!

I am SOOOOOO excited!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This time last year it took me all summer to lose that much on WW and now I have done that in only one week!!!!!!!!!!
 
congrats! My FIL lost a lot of weight on Atkins. DW has lost 30+ lbs. on WW(I've lost 6 so far in 2 weeks).
 
Hubby and I have been eating low-carb for a couple years now (with occasional trips off the wagon...LOL!). Congrats on your loss - it is amazing how the pounds seem to melt off when you eat low carb!

IMHO - way too much / way too fast! Maybe if you were losing for a special occasion, but I'm not thinking that's too healthy...:(
 
FOJMO - this is not unusual for someone doing low-carb for the first time. Most (not ALL but MOST) of that weight is water weight / bloat weight. The weight loss will slow down after the first week to a much more reasonable 1-2 pounds per week for most people.

It's great that you're concerned - I'm not flaming at all - just passing on information, since I've studied low-carbing for a couple years now. I can easily understand how this much initial weight loss sounds unhealthy.
 
Congratulations! Have you visited the WISH board here on the DIS? There are people there who have done Atkins as well as WW and they share tips and encouragement. Its'a great board!

my DH wants to give atkins a try...i'm still waivering on it. i think that i will at least try it with him...just to see if i can handle it...

It's an amazing diet, isn't it? DH has been on it for a month and hasn't cheated at all. He's lost 15 pounds so far, but has been putting on muscle weight from working out. Combine your Atkins with cardio exercise and the pounds really fall off. I admire anyone who can actually stick to this diet because I know I couldn't, I love my grains too much. Congratulations!:D
 
I started my diet in March, just watching what I eat and some light exercise.

I only wanted to lose 12 pounds (extra winter weight). I lost 6 and I am stuck with 6 more to lose but I have been stuck there for the last 2 months.

Could you please post or PM me what you eat on an average day?

This was the first week on Atkins so I was just doing the Induction part of the plan without any cheating. No sugar...no bread...no starchy veggies...no pasta. Basically just meat,cheese,s.f.jello, and water,water,water (and crystal Light)
