Had to down grade

We stayed with my daughter at All Star Movies when she was four and again at 5 years old and she LOVED it. The first year we were in the Fantasia building, near the ballerina. This past April, we requested Toy Story and got the Buzz buliding, facing Woody. She was in heaven! We just returned from a week at Pop (she's now 6) and she asked if we could go back to "our hotel" next time instead. It's totally geared toward kids with all the theming. We've stayed at CS & visited friends that were always at POR or POR-FQ. I have to say that I prefer the ASMovies with our daughter.

I was at POR for 9 nights in August with my family of 5 (dd-8, ds-6, & dd-4) and the entire trip I was wishing I was at Pop or ASMo. I found POR way too big. The food court didn't handle the crowds well and while it had great options for adults the choices for my 1 very picky eater were very limited. The value resorts had hot dogs and PB&J's that I couldn't find at POR. At POR the largest size milk you could buy at the food court was 8 oz. They had bigger milks in the gift shop but the gift shop wasn't open early in the morning. I know Pop had up to 1/2 gallons in the food court-not sure about the AS's. I missed the ropes for the busses, and I didn't like the multiple bus stops. I too got lost many times tryin to find my room.

You may like to know that Pop has an indoor bar as well as a pool bar.

I just made a reservation for my family for next year at the ASMu family suites.

Have a great trip!

I am glad I wasn't the only one to get lost there!!! I know people that love the POR and POFQ!-Lori

I don't get lost at POFQ.:lmao: Actually I like POFQ but my family of 5 won't fit there and I don't want to pay the price for 2 rooms. I like POFQ but I really do love POP. Oh and I also love the Poly but now that my kids are bit older I don't want to pay the price to stay there. I first stayed there in Oct 2002 and got more than 50% off the room as attendance was still down. I got sucked in then and was afraid to stay elsewhere. Now I know I can have a great Disney trip anywhere.

Oh give the All-Star's a try if you can! Just came back from 3 day stay in which we stayed at the Coronada Springs and hated it! Beds were lousy. We transferred to the Movies and loved it! It saved our whole trip. Remember its Disney, and the Value resorts are super kid friendly-they actually talk to the kids like they're one-of-a-kind. I hope you'll be able to go.

DH and I actually wanted to stay at Animal Kingdom. BUT DD5 saw the giant Woody on the web site. We stayed at ASMos instead. If you want a true Disney experience, stay at ASMos. It is the only Disney hotel with true Disney theming. We stayed in the Buzz building and loved walking into Andy's room every day. The rooms are not fabulous. They are ok. They were clean and we were never there anyway. We paid for a fridge and had the town car stop at Publix to get drinks and snacks. We did not take Magic Express. Town car instead. We upgraded and had a limo take us back to the airport. DD thought that was much cooler than staying at a nicer hotel. We also had the front desk leave a gift bag that had a princess nightgown. The CM even left balloons on her bed with an autographed picture of the princesses. THOSE touches made her feel special. And the money we saved on the hotel gave us a larger goodies budget. Book ASMos and have no worries

We stayed at ASMo in 2004 and loved it! We've stayed at CBR, ASMo, and Pop, and we liked them all. We do perfer the value food courts over the one at CBR. I think your dd would love it, they don't know about pool slides or things like that at that age.

You can not only downgrade the cost of the resort, but even shorten the trip a day or so. You can buy the base ticket for x number of days and add the parkhopper later, even on site after you've already used the ticket. I believe its $45 to had the PH option, no matter the length of your ticket($135 total).

If you don't get the PH option be sure you go to the MK on a day when you can see Wishes and night time parade. On our trip they did not do both every night, so check the schedule (you can find it under the Theme Parks tab on this site).

We took my 5yo:dance3: nephew for his first visit and had 4day PHs. Since you plan to return in about 5yrs or so I'd say you can skip the Animal Kingdom. We enjoyed our time there and the Nemo and Lion King shows, but the Magic Kingdom is where she'll probably want to be and there is just so much to do there. We went to all 4 parks, but nephew asked to go to MK everyday and we took him.

Bottom line, if your trip is 4-5 days and you only go to Magic Kingdom, she will feel like a Princess and have very special memories with Mommy and Daddy.

I would be sure to take her to a couple of character meals, breakfasts are the least expensive. We took a 5yo Princess to 1900 Parkfare dinner at the Grand Floridian. She brought her dress from home, but we got let her pick out a couple of inexpensive accessories on site (tiara, necklace, bracelet?). I hear very good things about the Playhouse Disney breakfast and lunch meals at Hollywood and Vine (you'd need an MGM ticket for that one). Chef Mickey's is fun and also in a hotel so no park ticket needed (Minnie is there).

Best wishes and just remember, Disney, Characters, MK and she will light up before your eyes. Take your digital camera!

TA gpt back with me and the only available resort is sports. Thank you all for the suggestions. She really wants to meet the princesses so I would like to schedule it on the day that park has extended hours. Our trip is 12/12-18. I still need to buy plane tickets too. Should I accept sports or keep trying to get movies? Is it worth the hassle? I could make the resservations then change resorts, if that is possible right? I am getting so excited.:cheer2:

Make sure to make ressies at Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique. DD5 LOVED IT! And it is almost like a status symbol for the girls to have those sashes!

I will it is what 45 for the cheapest package?

Yes, but if pampering and showering her is what you are after, then the BBB will do it for you. Or, you could take her to the MK Harmony Barber Shop and have her hair gelled and sprinkled with sequins and pixie dust. Either way she'll love it.

I haven't stayed anywhere but POP, but I can't imagine having a better place for a little one than a value resort. I know some people have issues with the size of the rooms, and I do understand that if you have a bigger or older group. However, with young kids, they just absolutely LOVE the BIG icons and totally Disney feel!! Sometimes I think I'd like to upgrade to a moderate to make it feel more "special," but can't see giving up the fun atmosphere while DS11 is loving it! I know lots of people see their resorts as a break from the excitement & that's completely understandable; our family just isn't at that point in our lives right now. Please don't take this "down-grade" as a negative; I think it's possible that it will be the best place for your family at this time!!!

we had 2 other kids Haircuts, but for 3rd DD, it was only $5 for the Do and gel and glitter. If you get a HC, it's only $5 and HC were only $15 or so.

Personally, I am going to bring a big bottle of gel and Hairspray and do my girls' hair myself (maybe practice at home 1st) for the next time.

ASSp has some positives too. They are the first bus stop of the All Stars. It may not be the perfect theming for a young girl but it is still fun. I wouldn't hesitate to take it if it was the only one left, but since you have a little girl I would keep checking for a cancellation at the ASMo or ASMu. She would probably just like the theming a bit more. IMHO! (Unless of course she is a sports nut). I would definately take my grandsons to ASSp next time we go with them.

The whole family is not really into sports but if it is the only one left, I won't mind. I am going to keep trying to change to movies though. She keeps telling me about the dogs (Dalmations), and how they are her friends, ha ha ha

I also don't know if I should rent a car. I have heard mixed emotions about ME and very tempted to get a car. Or just pack swimsuits and pjs in the carryons.

I really like ME. You check your luggage and then don't need to worry about it again. Really nice with kids. I've never had to wait too long for a bus or luggage. And it's free!

Have you checked to see if Pop is available? Your DD may like Lady & Tramp in the 50's section.

I loved having the ME!! It meant the world to us that we didn't have to hassle with our luggage, especially with kiddos!! We didn't have any problems at all and look forward to using it next time we go!
