Long story short, I lost my full time job back in November but have been fortunate enough to get a nice part time. Our upcoming trip has been paid off (including the dining plan) but we were going to go to Victoria and Alberts for our first anniversary. Well, DH and I have thought long and hard about spending all that money on one meal right now... so we canceled it. We are both very bummed but know we made the right decision. So my question is where do you recommend us go instead seeing as we have DDP anyway. :confused3

I am sorry about the money situation, but it sounds as if you made a sound financial decision. You will be in WDW, it will be great fun still : )
Last year we renewed our vows and then had a nice 10 year anniversary dinner at Les Chefs, it was great! (and only one TS credit)

Eat downstairs. There are several nice choices and you could dress up and have a great meal at any of them. I love GFC, but for a special night Narcoosies would be great.

For 1 credit, we really enjoyed The Wave at the Contemporary. It doesn't have a view, but it is quiet and has a nice, upscale feel. The food is yummy too.

If you want to use 2 credits and still go to the Grand Floridian, I would recommend Citricos.

If you want to use 1 credit, Sanaa at the Animal Kingdom Lodge is getting good reviews. I believe I read one report where it was their new favorite 1 credit restaurant.

You'll still have fun!!

I second Sanaa! :thumbsup2 Plus AKL can have a very romantic feel IMO. You could spend some time strolling the grounds before or after dinner.

If you plan on being at a park, Le Cellier would be a good choice for an anniversary, but starting March 1, it will be 2 TS credits for dinner.

I would agree with Sanaa -- but only if you like Indian food. There is a nice room near the restaurant's entrance with a fireplace and nice seating. Dh and I like to get drinks from the Sanaa bar and enjoy them by the fireplace before dinner.

Sanaa has very good food and a surprisingly nice wine list. But, tons of families with kids eat there so I recommend going later after the noise quiets down. Ask for a table by the window and be willing to wait. You may not see any animals, but it's still nice to look out on the savannah.

Thank you everyone for your suggestions! They all sound fantastic actually. I think we are going to look through all the menus and decided from there. We went to Citricos on our honeymoon and LOVED it! I've read a lot of good things about Sanaa as well. So we will see what we can find! Thanks again everyone! :flower3:

alright, so now we are thinking of doing a non-ddp place because we always do the ddp and tend to go to those places only. I know Bistro de Paris gets pretty good reviews. What non-DDP restaurants do you recommend? Maybe something at the Swan/Dolphin or DTD?

Blue Zoo in the Dolphin, is AWESOME! :thumbsup2
Always have a great meal there, and we love the atmosphere...It's very relaxing.

Well, for Italian, you cannot beat Il Mulino. We dined there recently and it was delicious. And, they have 1/2 orders of pastas. Plus, complimentary limoncello at the end of your dinner. I think it is pretty easy to have a really delicious dinner at Il Mulino that doesn't break the bank. They have a wonderful wine list, too.

For steaks, we always enjoy Shula's. We ask for the quiet room toward the back that has tables for two along one wall. The steaks are very good, there are lots more entree choices than at Yachtsman Steakhouse, and we also love the other things on the menu -- barbecue shrimp, creamed spinach, chocolate souffle.

We have not tried Blue Zoo, but others on these boards rave about it. Kimono's is supposed to be good for sushi, but when we've gone past it, there has been karaoke going on and, if there is one thing worse than noisy kids in a restaurant, it's karaoke, so we've never dined there.

We recently dined at Bistro de Paris and were disappointed. It's very expensive (we felt we could spend just a bit more and eat at V&A), the food was only fair and now that they let kids order from the downstairs children's menu, the place was full of noisy kids and was as chaotic as Chef Mickey's.

We've enjoyed Fulton's at DownTown Disney for seafood (but we've only done lunch in the bar).

We also enjoy Jiko, although it is on the DDP. A former chef has returned and has ramped up the food in both quality and taste. There are some interesting food choices on the menu. We try to go late to avoid lots of kids. That doesn't always work, however, as we've often seen families with toddlers wander in at 10 pm.

We will be trying out Shula's on Valentine's Day this year. We usually go to only the restaurants on the DDP, but this time, my DH is attending a convention off-site, and I'm going along. This gave us a chance to try some different restaurants. We will be using a $25 gift certificate I purchased for $2 on restaurant.com. There are also certificates for bluezoo and Kimonas. If you do plan on eating at the Swan/Dolphin, it's worth it to check out the website. (Just google restaurant.com discounts, and you will find at least a 70% off code.)
