Had to cancel my Labor Day Trip

We are leaving a week from today from No. Indiana and I am very nervous about all of this. What if we get on the road and run out of gas? What if we get to FL and then can't return home? I am just so concerned about this, but we have been thinking, preparing and anticipating this trip for months and we really wouldn't be able to go again for at least a year. Not to metion my kids would be heartbroken. We are still definitely planning on, but like someone else said previously we won't let our gas get too low!!!

Just wanted to let you know if you are coming through Louisville or Cincinnati gas is high but no supply issues...every station I have seen is open, no lines....DH works in Cincinnati and has no problems there either. Talked to my DS last night in Nashville, TN and she said they had no lines or supply issues there either...so the I-65 corridor from So IN to at least Columbia, TN (south of Nashville) has plenty of gas at this point.

Travel in uncertain times is hard...but I hope your trip is a happy one.

Our trip isn't until November and we're flying so by then things should be stabilized. We'd planned on renting a car, but can always cancel and do ME.

To those of you cancelling, I feel horrible for you. We originally cancelled after 9/11 but I cried so hard my DH agreed to re-book. It's a tough decision, but to be stranded with no gas is even worse.

To those of you still going, best of luck, be careful and have a safe and happy trip.

but we did so a little more than a week ago, not knowing about the gas situation. Now that everything is happening as it is, I'm glad we cancelled. We just went in July for 8 nights, stayed at the BC and had such a good time. We didn't "get it out of our system" so we decided to go this weekend. Should be on the way down now, we typically leave about 4:30 a.m. It's a 9 hour drive for us. Anyway, we were only going for 3 nights. We really were stretching our budget to go, so we decided to wait and try again in November. We have AP's and they were burning a hole in our pocket. Boy am I glad we cancelled. I live in NC - in the Western Piedmont area (closer to the mountains than the ocean) and the gas here ranges from $2.99 to $3.49. Can anyone say price gouging???!!! pirate:

Both me and my DH have it bad - we're dying to go. We were hoping to go for Thanksgiving but I can't seem to get anything other than rack rate to come up on the Best Rate System. We're thinking about the Dolphin. Stayed at the Swan last thanksgiving and loved it.

I think codes and incentives will be forthcoming given all the cancellations. Disney will have to recoup the money somehow so we should all stay tuned and pay attention.

We haven't cancelled our trip. We are leaving on Monday. I'm getting really worried about the whole situation now. We are flying into Orlando from Indy. There was an article in the USA Today yesterday about airports running out of jet fuel by the end of next week. There was also a segment on it this morning on Fox News. I'm scared we'll get down there and won't be able to get home. I know that's worst-case scenario (sp??) but it could happen. Both articles mentioned MCO specifically. What if we couldn't drive either b/c we couldn't find gas? I am worried but I also don't want to cancel b/c I firmly believe in the trickle-down effect. I also had a vacation planned right after 9/11 and we still went. What a tough situation this is. I feel so small for worring about vacation plans when so many are going without the bare necessities.

Good morning - My husband flew in MCO from Chicago last nite. He was at the 7-11 store this morning and the owner told him there is a shortage on regular gas - but the gas stations around kissimmee had plenty of premium gas - people aren't buying it because it was $3.13 a gallon. My husband told him he had just arrived from Chicago - and we were paying $3.50 a gallon for regular!! I don't know what next week will bring.............Good luck to those of you traveling.

:guilty: We are in Lehigh, near the Cape and are also running out of gas. We are going this weekend, already paid for the whole thing, got the MYW+free dining. I doubt Disney would be so gracious about us canceling our trip without any fees. So we are going anyway, we filled up Tuesday, haven't been anywhere since and can make it there and back on a tank of gas, so we are heading out in a couple of hours. I need this trip, the good thing about WDW is when you're there you don't think about much else and for a few days we can forget about the,"What ifs".

I also leave early Monday morning and driving down.It only takes a little over 1 tank of gas to get there.

Well the Plantation pipeline that supplies areas like Charlotte are now operating at full capacity, plus the Colonial pipeline will be at 85% by the weekend. The Governor of Georgia has also lifted the gas tax through the end of September, which will knock 15 cents off a gallon....
