Couldnt get the time off work....We are trying to reschedule our trip but dont know whether to do October/ November or New Year/January...Any thoughts ? PS I m a sun/ water lover and I know what the temps can be like in January :cold: but DH hates crowds and knows crowds are low in January...help!

i would go for october as a compromise - you may get warmth and he may get low crowds! i would hate to miss the sun....

I am sorry to hear that!! My friend went during Oct last year (the end of Oct), and came back telling me never to go during that time because it was HOT!! (She says it was also really crowded).

But, yes...Jan will probably be cold.

Good luck deciding!!

You mentioned November. We go around Thanksgiving every year (for the past three years). Starting Sunday after the holiday the crowds really clear out. It's a wonderful time to go. The weather is usually pretty cooperative and we have even been able to swim the past three years. There were a few nippy nights but nothing we couldn't handle. The Christmas decorations are all up too which is a major plus to us. We kind of think of it as our "kick off to Christmas".

We went the first weekend in October last year and the weather was perfect. We spent a day at TL, and enjoyed the F&W festival and a MNSSHP! It was our first OKW stay and it was perfect in every way.

I have been going to DisneyWorld around Xmas time since roughly 1996 but I haven't been there during the times that you are looking at. I have done July, August, May, and April. I have a co-worker who went during the last week of October. He really enjoyed the trip; didn't make any mention of long lines or bad weather. He really enjoyed the halloween activities (Mickey's Very Scary Halloween). Whenever I stop taking classes, I will have to go to DisneyWorld during the last week of October at some point in the future. It sounds like fun! I haven't heard as many comments on Thanksgiving but New Years Day, as I'm sure you know, is very busy. I had reservations through New Years Day last year but had to leave a few days early. I can verify that things get very busy during the week between Xmas and New Years Day. Personnally, I prefer a quieter time but I do like the decorations and festive atmosphere.

Hi,

Sorry you had to cancel!!! I'd go for October or November! Have fun!!!

What kind of boss doesn't let you take off for Disney (lol)?
I LOVE Disney in October. I found it not to be overly crowded and warm enough to swim.

Sorry you had to cancel. I'd go in October. It's really nice then and still on the warm side.

We had to cancel our trip also but looks like we're going to have to wait till next year. :sad2:

I went during OCT/NOV to MNSSHP, only time it was really crowded. The weather was perfect! Not to warm, not too cold. Gorgeous!

We also went during week before Christmas through the 28th. It was our best vacation yet, because of the decorations, and the atmosphere. The MK closed early on the 27th and the weather was soooo cold one night, I couldn't think straight! I would choose the end of October through the 1st week of November. Perfect weather, only crowded at Epcot for the Wine and Food Festival. Still not really crowded for WDW.

November is a great time. We generally go around the 10th (anniversary), and in fact, we'll be making our first trip home to SSR around then. Weather can be in the low 80s to 70s so with the heated pools you should still be able to enjoy them, and with most parents keeping their kids in school (unlike yours truly), the crowds are down. Besides a cool day in Disney is better that a day almost anyplace else.

Sorry you had to cancel! I'd go for October/November since you're looking for warmer weather. We've been a few times in January and it is not usually too warm. At least not warm enough for swimming IMO.

The average high in January is 71 degrees. We went for 4 weeks this January the first 2 weeks it was 80 degrees everyday the last two weeks it was the low 60's once or twice getting near 70. If you like to swim do not go in Jan, the 80 degree days were a freak thing this year. It was more crowded then I expected also.

We've been there for the last two Januarys and they both had some really warm days. We spent a few days at BB both times. Plus we hit the pool almost every day or night. On the Sunday of the marathon (first weekend after the first) it was 80 degrees by noon. January is great. Points go down on Jan 1. They are high on Dec 31.

The past two years we went end of October into early November. We have found this time to be wonderful! We love MNSSHP!!! And the weather was great both times...we swam nearly every day :sunny: . Overall, the crowds were fine, it just gets crowded at MNSSHP.

Also, the Food and Wine Fest is going on during this time, which we think is fantastic. It really makes Epcot WS come alive!!!

Sorry to hear you had to cancel your holiday trip. But I don't think you can go wrong with either of the dates you mentioned. We've been a few times in January and the low/non-existent crowds are a real pleasure!

Good luck with your decision!
