We are currently in the middle of doing our garden. Yesterday as we were digging ad moving the earth (were digging quite deep), we came across a blanket with something in it. DH opened the bag and it was lots of bones.

We decided to ring the council to see if they would come and get rid of them but they said that we would have to phone the police. A couple of officers were round within a couple of hours and took some of the bones to the local vets to get the vet to confirm they were canine. We got a phone call a couple of hours later to say that the test was inconclusive if the bones were canine or human:confused3 They said that forensics would be round with a DS from the SIU (serious investigations unit) and a radiologist from the hospital.:scared1:

The drama was soon over as they confirmed they were canine, thankfully! It was a little worrying when thevet couldn't tell if they were canine!:scared1: It was very funny though watching everybodys curtains twitching in the street, trying to guess what was going on:) All that from a telephone call to the council:laughing: Still it was a fun start to the summer holidays.

gosh that must have been scary to start with !
what happened to the remains of the dog ?

You must have had a great day :rotfl2: , although I would have been scared at the thought that the vet couldnt identify the bones either, I have shivers just thinking about it.

Gosh that sounds like an epesiode of CSI, glad they turned out to be canine bones.

You certainly had an interesting day.

The police told us that they are going to get the council to come and take them away (enviromental health). It was a bit scary, Just could imagaine them all over the garden digging up all the work we had started!:)

That must have been a bit scary for you, glad they weren't human

What a funny start to the holidays...the kids will love telling that story when they get back to school! :thumbsup2

Oh my :scared1: .What a 'lovely' way to start the holidays.Reminds me of the time when we first moved into our house were we are now.Dh was diggin down deep to lay a cement base for our shed to sit on,and came across a bag-inside was a tatty towel-inside that was a cat-along with it's toys  .It could'nt have been there long-dh re burried it deeper down.x.

What an interesting day you had! I'm glad they weren't human.

Wow, what a shock for you both, I can just imagine the twitching curtains though....and the whispers behind those curtains ;)

I've been back out today digging and much to Lucy's dismay we have found nothing else:) She just kept saying 'your not digging deep enough mummy, keep digging'.:)
