Recovery hasn't been too bad. The only thing is nothing is "comfortable" I can sit for a while- then that's not comfortable- I lay down for a while- then that's uncomfortable- I walk around doing little chores and then that is uncomfortable............ I have these 2 little incisions in my knee and it's driving me nuts! I want to vacuum- make dinner- do the laundry (can't carry a basket cause I'm holding onto the wall when I walk!)

Of course I don't have a "good leg" because the opposite hip needs replacing so there's pain there too. I don't think I'm a very good patient. :sad2:

Hi. I had knee surgery Sept.22, and I still use a cane out of the house, it wants to lock up once in awhile.Doing good untill 2 weeks after when I got the stitches out, we had a car accident and would you believe that my knee was the only thing that got hit. They just said put a bandage on it and rest.I need to ice it and exercise and I gon't do enough. I have had both hips done(broke and moved my sockets over) But now arthridus has set in.
Hope you recover fast.

That's what mine keeps doing "locking" kind of..... I had a torn meniscus and arthritis "cleaned up"

I can't wait until I can drive!

My mom had both of her knees replaced, one 3 months after the other. I asked her if she had any advice for you.

She suggested that when you're sitting try to do knee bends (don't know if you know what I mean, lift your leg up slightly and bend it), a few minutes every half hour. That way your leg won't get too stiff while you are in one position.

Good luck, knee surgery is tough. I hope you have a fast recovery

Thanks for the advice- thank your Mom for me!

Don't blame yourself! I bet it would be impossible to be "very good" with all that you've got going on.

Hang in there. You'll heal in your own time.

I just want to be better faster than it's gonna happen I guess....

DD's MIL had one knee replacement done and said that no matter how bad her other knee gets, she will NOT have that surgery again.. Her recovery was pretty long - but she wasn't real good about doing the exercises and such that she was supposed to..

Healing takes time.. As long as you're doing the things you're supposed to (in terms of recovery) try not to let the other stuff get to you.. Hope you're feeling much better soon! :goodvibes

This afternoon my leg is swollen from the knee down. Mostly noticeable in the ankle and foot (I have a CANKLE!). My Mom is a nurse and she looked at it- thinks I just need to put it up more..... anyone have this happen?

This happened to DD's MIL - while she was still having the therapist come to her home.. She too was told to elevate it until it went down.. Maybe you're tryng to do too much? Or hurry your recovery along? Please pay strict attention to the instructions you were given, because I'm sure you wouldn't want to have this surgery again - right?

Hope you're in tip-top shape soon! :goodvibes

Very true! I heard so much "I went back to work after a week" and stuff like that from folks(mostly on this board)- guess I'm pushing myself too hard.
