Had it with BCV

The answer is simple treat your resort like your own home. My kids dont eat in the living room. They and we pickup after ourselves and don,t eat on the furniture. I understand that in a studio there isn't much choice but you have a table to use to eat. When all guest member and non treat this like home there will be farless problems. :confused3

I do - but my kids DO eat in the living room, get fingerprints on my walls and windows, AT HOME. We don't treat our home like a showplace, we live in it. So the couches are stained (the parlour couch isn't), the carpet needs to be cleaned regularly (the parlour carpet is clean), and the walls have gunk on them (the parlour walls are clean).

We use the parlour for playing the piano, reading, and having guests - we don't do much of any of those activities at our DVC home.

Which will be part of the problem. How I treat my home and how you treat yours are obviously different.

I treat it like (or similar) to my home as well.

We only eat in the kitchen/dining room at home with an occasional (controled) snack in the family room. However... my kitchen table is marble and can't be easily damaged, my chairs are wooden and easy to wipe up spills, my cups are appropiate for little hands, I have enough room for everyone to eat and walk around my table, my wood end tables have coasters, etc. So even if I try to treat our villa like home - I can't, because it isn't my home with the thing I chose to live with, I am a guest in the villa trying my best.

So far with our 2 visits home we have been happy/satisified with our villa. It wasn't perfect but was clean.

It truly amazes me that people have been so upset with the state of affairs that they have sold their BCV points. We have not seen anything at all that would lead us to that path, but we don't own at BCV so it's a mute point. We stay at BCV sometimes, just one night coming up, and have been awed, not repulsed by the conditions.

Bobbi :)

I really feel like some of the people (not everyone) who are that quick to sell their contract probably has some underlying conditions in which they are looking for an excuse to do so. Maybe they really couldn't afford it to start with and are feeling guilty, perhaps their significant other was not as enthusiastic, etc. There could be a million reasons. Thank goodness for them that they own a contract that is easy to get rid of...or they'd really be in a pickle!

Maybe that sounded more harsh than I meant it to. We just thought about how often we would want to stay there in the future and decided it wasn't our favorite.
I had been reading all the great reviews and posts on how great it was especially the pool, and our expectations were too high. I think it was more of it not meeting our expecations. My family(i.e. Kids) need a relaxing place to crash and decompress to avoid major meltdowns due to crabbiness.
Yes it was in very high demand and easy to sell. Actually is was on the market about 2 hours before it sold. It did not make it through ROFR though.

My $.02.

We just got back, and stayed our first night in a BCV Studio - we were both pleased and impressed. Front desk CM was great, and get this: she asked if we minded what floor we were on, as she had an Epcot view on the 5th floor (Villa 550, for anyone keeping score) ! I said "Yes, hit that key that claims it before someone else gets it!"

We spend most of our DVC nights at SSR (24 so far) and are used to 'new room' quality, but had absolutely no negatives at BCV. We did notice the darkish stains in front of the doors, but I figure it was due to two things: the bright (and stain-showing) yellow color, and the fact that many BCV guests probably stand and drip pool water at the door as they fish out their room keys. While they need better colored carpet, "Welcome Home" mats would do the trick.

Although we still love our "home sweet home" of SSR the best, BCV would probably be our next choice - negative Nellies notwithstanding.

Bobbi :)
I have discovered that, sadly, some people just aren't truly happy unless they have something to complain about; these are the folks who, when winning $100 Million in a lotto, would complain about the taxes. :rolleyes1

We will be staying at BCV june 21-24, before our 7 day disney cruise.

we are going to be in a 2 bedroom. my sisters and their families are taking turns staying with us, as I will be trying to impress them into buying!!

I sure hope I get a nice place, what an embarrasement it will be after all the selling I have been doing!!

I'll report back when I return

A couple years ago we brought a couple friends down in December for their first time visit to WDW. I had a 2BR at the BCV. I called and spoke to DVC to have the room inspected by a supervisor before it was assigned. It was a great place. I was spooked by so many reports of lousy housekeeping, and I also wanted to avoid an embarrassing situation.

Although I started this thread, I am sorry if I created worry over your upcoming experience. Every trip is different, and we had a good time in spite of it all. Happy Trails, Sandie
