This week while the kids were on spring break I decided to clean the attic etc out. I want it all out, gone, goodbye. Well between 2 DSisters, Mom, and me we made 583 today and I still have tomorrow to go! I made 239 and haven't told DH yet because this will be our Memorial Day weekend mad money for Maine! Yipee and everything that is left over will go either in the free pile out front for a day or to the local shelter. :)

I need to start getting my stuff ready. See what I have and then decided if I am going to do it. I am thinking the first weekend or the third weekend in May!

mostly it will be boys clothes!

I wish yard sale season would start here. I seen a few stray ones, but we have a few more weeks before it really begins!!

That is AWESOME!!!!

Where in Maine are you vacationing? If you need any tips, send me a personal message (I live in Maine)...

Way to go!

I love yard sales.

I also love Maine, so pretty.

My friend and I had a driveway sale today. It was mostly her stuff, and just a few things that I brought over. These were nice items, not junk. We had a beautiful weather, and a very active street with many lookers, but sales were slow.

Now I know why I don't do garage sales anymore! Everyone wanted things for just about nothing, and we had many people who barely spoke English, so it was hard to communicate. I think between the two of us we made just over $100!

This is kind of off topic, but....

Does anyone else feel weird when you go to a yard sale and the people that are having it are right on you. I know its kind of silly, but I feel like I am insulting them when I just look and don't buy. Anyone ever feel this way.

Yeah, I feel that way, too. I know that when I have a yard sale, I don't hover for that very reason. Most people will ask questions if they have any. If someone doesn't buy, I'm not insulted. I figure that I don't want this stuff either, that's why I'm selling it!

BTW- WTG, winniedapooh! That's a nice little chunk of change you made. Enjoy your trip to Maine!

I need some inspiration to pull my stuff together. We usually have one with my mom and sister, at my mom's house. She lives in the more visible place. Placing an ad in the paper always helps!

Have a lobster for me while you are there!!

We moved from Maine last year down to New Orleans. I missed the lobster so bad that I had to have some mailed down here over the holidays!!!!:space:

I've never made that much...that is awesome...

So far this spring, my sisters and I have had 3 yard sales. We have brought in right at $750 dollars-which by the way- is just the right amount of money to pay for their dolphin swim in Nassau. Hurray!!! Couldn't quite justify spending that kind of money for the 5 cousins swimming with the dolphins for an hour- but now it's free- at least- so to speak!!! Time is getting closer- we've got 55 Q&C vouchers, 10 Lunch ones- rest.com to Baskervilles- so quite a lot is already prepaid. (there's 15 of us going in our family- that's why so many vouchers)

Very funny--DH and I DO feel this way. As a matter of fact, when we drive up to a house and see the whole family lined in in lawn chairs behind the stuff for sale, we look at each other and say "Uh-oh!" :)

Have you ever had people decline to tell you a price on something, and just say "Make an offer," then go off on you about the offer? This happened to DH and I--the yard sale person started saying, "I can't believe you offered that! It's worth 20 times that much!" etc., etc. We moved carefully away from her and I said gently, "Well, you did say to make an offer."

Now I will never make an offer on anything! If the person won't name a price, I just smile and walk away! :p

If things aren't marked-- I leave! I don't have time for the make an offer nonsense. So everyone-- please mark your price clearly.:D

Update.....I ended up with just over 300 for the day and a half I held it and the combined total was close to 700. I am psyched! I have 3 boxes of really good clothes, a high chair, 2 boxes of books, and a small box of toys for the shelter tomorrow. The rest which is mostly everyone else's is in the free pile and is almost 1/2 gone! I am officially cleaned up and ready to rest. Pixie dust to all. Oh yeah and to the person who mentioned people that hover and don't price I too dislike that. I sit and will pleasantly say hello or ask if they need help if they are having difficulty carrying things and stuff is ALL priced! Thanks for the great support here! Now if I can just get rid of those darn beanies.....:earboy2:

I agree with the marking items. I went to a garage sale and ended up buying 4 kids books and I had no idea how much they where until I went up to pay. I would have gotten more if I knew exactly how much they where when I was looking at them.
