I just finished the half marathon with my son. We had a great race but would have loved less humidity. All was going well and we were chugging along until this man holding a stick with some kind of fluffy thing appeared.

This man ran over to my son and asked him how old he was. My son replied in an excited manner. The man then said to him, "oh, so you lied to be able to run this race." Well my son looked bewildered because I am the biggest rule follower there is. I should have said something but I was just as shocked as my son.

The age to run the race is 14 and he turned 14 in September.

I assume that both of you are proudly wearing your Donalds this afternoon. If the guy was not credentialed with a volunteer badge or a Disney name tag I would just chalk it up to a wacko in the crowd. I cannot think of a reason a credentialed person would have handled the questioning that way. I think I would send a short email to runDisney later letting them know what happened. There were lots of cameras today and you may be able to help isolate the guy based on your account.

In the mean time, tell your son (and you) great job on running a half under less then ideal conditions.

He was in a running outfit. He had a wooden dowel with some kind of furry/ fluffy thing on the end. I didn't see anything on him that made him look official.

We are having a great time and my son is very proud of his accomplishment and we are having a great day at MK.

Thank you

What a wonderful accomplishment for your son. My daughter is 13 and can't wait to be official! maybe that dude was suffering from a lack of oxygen to the brain. I am glad your son had a great time doing a half marathon.
