Some of you know that my Dad is in a nursing home now that my Mom can't take care of him anymore. I call him everyday to check on him and he's usually doing wonderfully but the nurse told me that he had gone back to bed. This is very rare for him so I was concerned. His roommate told me that he was lying down because he wasn't feeling too well...
Well, an hour later I call again and they told me they were taking him to the hospital! They told me that he was non-responsive and was sure he had had a stroke!!!
I was close to hysterics. My Mom's last chore for me before she died was "take care of your Dad!" I took off, picked up Michael from school and headed back (we were there from Friday to Sunday it's now Monday) to Tennessee.
When we got there he was sitting up and tired in the ER. Turns out he had a bad reaction to a pain killer he took for his gout! I nearly collapsed from exhilaration and exhaustion.
We stayed with him that night and he's MORE than better now. In fact he's back to flirting with the nurses and being the bad boy he usually is.
My Dad is all we have now. He's been incredible since my Mom's death, and he's taught us all what true faith really is. After 60 years of bliss with one woman he still smiles at me and says "she's still with me..."
She's still with me, too!
