My DW and I recently got back from a 7 day stay in Dec and for all our dining experiences except for 1 counter spot (Roaring Forks) we had excellent service and high quality very satisfying meals. Unfortunately no pictures, the reason is the pic's I would take would be the same as 100's in the food porn thread.
For our table service we ate at China, Coral Reef, Boma, 1900 Park Fare, Crystal Palace and Marakeesh. Again all excellent in service and quality and no complaints!!!!!
In a former life I have managed a number of restaurants so I have a very good base of what to expect in service and quality and what the customer wants. And I dread that word being used in these forums "foodie"; as a formal food service professional that term means nothing.
After I had made ADR's for the Coral Reef I started to read a growing number of bad reviews about it. About 1 week before leaving the problems centered on long waits in line and for table service including bad service and mediocre meals I was hesitant to go there because of them. But I also read posts from more evenhanded people who had gone there giving it great marks.
Since it was our 33rd wedding anniversary we were wearing the anniversary buttons. We arrived early to check in mostly due to just timing, the CM at counter politely told us to come back at ADR time to register. No problem, we came back at 6pm and all I had to do is wait a few minutes to get registered and told there would be a 15-25 min wait. 5 min later we were beeped and seated. Then our server named Bruce came and talked to us. And right away I saw that he would be excellent server and it turn out right. In reality excellence is too low a term to portray him. He was attentive, timely and very personable and helped make the evening "magical"
We were on the reg DDP and my DW ordered Seafood Linguini and I ordered Grilled Mahi Mahi; they came in a relativly short time and were excellent and in large portions.
About the noise issues yes there was noise but nothing different from Crystal Palace, WCC, Boma and 1900 Park Fare and the noise level was quiet when compared to being inside a Red Robin when it's full of kids. And about the noise issue in the main room common sense will tell you there will be a noise issue. There's a 50 ft glass wall there and what does glass do? It reflects sound.
Overall my main point is to read the reviews with a "grain of salt" If the reviews were truly a universal accurate experience no one would go to those badly reviewed restaurants and they would be closed or changed.
Not as it is'; that you have a hard time getting ADR's. Which tells you a lot more about how the place is.
