has just started shaving her legs - last week I guess - and this week she did her underarms for the 1st time....

WELL she just got out of the shower & said "mom I shaved", I said okay great - she says I shaved right here.and shows me.....her FOREARMS! I oh my gosh I can't stop laughing! I guess I never told her where NOT to shave!

I remember back in high school when my DH (then DBF) shaved his chest for a swim meet... it was so prickly for about 3 months, then finally one day, it wasn't prickly anymore!

When I was 13 my boyfriend shaved his armpits. He didn't realize that only girls did that. Wierd!

OMG! I did the EXACT same thing the first time I shaved my arms. My mom had told me that girls shave their arms and I had no idea at the time that she meant my underarms and not my actual (fore)arm. I have NEVER lived that one down, lol!

i've never shaved my arms before. i had never even heard of it or thought about it before either.
i recently found out that LOTS of girls/women do this.

When my dd13 started shaving a couple years ago, she mentioned that she was going to shave her arms like she thought that thats what you are supposed to do. She said some girls at school do this
I told her no, not to. I guess you just assume they know where to shave.

Whats wrong with shaving arm hair? My cousins both have very dark hair (they have since they were little) and shave there arms and legs (there 10/11). The hair grows back thinner and lighter. I shave my arms too.

LOL, after reading this I panicked a little..I just told Remy 11 she could start shaving this week. I called her in here to specify the areas (why didn't I think of that before lol) and our convo went like this:

Me: Rem, you know you only shave your legs and UNDER your arms right? Not your actual arms.
Her: Uh yea, who the heck shaves their arms mom?!
Me: Some people do...
Her: What people mom?
Me: People I talk to on my DIS forum...
Her: Mom, you know those people aren't real right?
Me: Yes they are!

She just sighed and walked back to her room shaking her head. I just sat there speechless...I mean you guys are real!!! What the heck?!

I don't guess there's anything wrong with it - I've just never heard of anyone doing it other than swimmers (and that was just on tv)

But I told the story to a 19yo girl today who said lots of her friends in highschool shaved their arms.

But she says it comes back darker & thicker.... I guess we'll find out....

I'm just thankful it wasn't her eyebrows she shaved....

I do.

It doesn't grow back prickly, at all - but my arms aren't hairy, nor is the hair dark or thick. I would imagine if they were, it would be.

I just love how soft they feel when I do it.

I don't even do it all the time - just whenever I remember / feel like it / have time. I did it today. They're very smooth.

No, I swear it doesn't. It comes in exactly the same as was prior.

That's why I barely ever really do it. If it started coming in all thick, I'd be doing it daily.

Thank you! No its just Remy...my FIL calls her Remington but it is NOT her name lol..just his pet name for her. He does the same with my other DD Holland aka Holly..he calls her Holiday lol. Can't wait to see what he comes up for my next DD Koi Isabella who will be born in Jan lol..god love the man..

I know! I remember telling Angela years ago on the DIS that I loved the name Remy. My dh loves it too but he probably loves it because he would want to name a girl Remington and call her Remy for short. Any name that makes him think of hunting is okay by him, lol!

OMG OP, poor girl....its very funny though!
When it was time for DD11 to shave her legs and underarms I looked into sugaring for her as it lasts so much longer! She gets it done like once a month the real plus is there are no razor nicks--OUCH!
