I keep trying to imagine myself darting thru the park from one important destination to the other. My fanny pack secured around me containing all my necessary items, a bottle of filtered water slung around one side and a water mister in the other...The mental picture is quite hilarious to me but nothing funnier than when I adorned my "suit of armour" and announced straight faced to my family this will be our attire while at Disney, except that my husband may also be responsible for the back pack as well. Also there will be hats and regular coating of sunblock. Plus ponchos if needed - They think I have flipped and I am really taking them on a survior show.

How do you move by the way? My bottles are empty and yet it already seems to be too heavy....

LOL- My magic has already started by making pre memories. My husband took my pic and said this was going to be the first page in our photo album...."mama getting prepared to face the Mouse"
:laughing: :laughing: :rotfl: :rotfl:::MickeyMo

The mental image I got cracked me up. I don't know-- sounds like a lot of gear. We bring 1 back-pack and thats it. Good luck!!

Well I never dart from one place to the other. I take my time as Disney isn't going anywhere and I'm too old for a broken hip or something. I take a fanny pack and that is it for what is hanging on my body. Well, besides some body parts but that is neither here nor there. I never take a water container but buy a nice cold refreshing bottle when the need strikes. I think $2.50 is but a small price to pay for an icy cold bottle of water. And I don't have a bottle hanging from my neck choking me to death. We do have a backpack with which we have the ponchos and sunblock but that stays in the stroller.

Okay... I have to tell you.. the mister may be a bit awkward to carry.. but in the florida heat.. when I am standing in a line with cool mist floating on me.. the drooling that goes on by people who are melting.. make the extra weight worth it... and It is soooo much fun to "mist" all the little kids waiting in line with me... (not mine!!LOL!! they just LOVE IT!!) It is quite the conversation maker!!

Now, that is a funny picture. Sounds like what I was prepared to do last August for my first summer trip. But, after lugging around water bottles for one day, I said 'no more'. I (we) either grab a dring from the fountains(bubblers), yes, I know some of you think the water is awful, or for a nice cold drink we buy water. We each have our own fanny pack with what we need in them. Mine seems to be always the heaviest since I have the photo stuff. But the mister goes with dd. She loves it, so she gets to carry it!! Of course, I certainly don't object if she feels the need to 'mist' me!!

I've been thinking about this lately too. I though first that we would get the Brita bottles..still might, you never know. They would be great for saving money but I want to try and not have to carry water with me at every moment so I can feel more care free. I'm wondering if it wouldn't be better to order water from netgrocer.com? I'm thinking of having 12 six packs of water delivered to our PC room, I've heard this would be okay to do, so they are in are room when we check in? We won't have a car and looking at the site I see that I can order 6 packs of Aquafina 96 oz bottles and they will end up costing me .55 cents per bottle which is fine. Plus the delivery charge of course, but then we can take a few each with us every morning as we head out. Later we get thirsty we could buy a soda and order a cup of ice on the side, sharing the soda and ice. There are two of us and we are going in November. I wonder how many drinks we will end up buying by the end of each long day?

Maybe the Brita bottles are still the best option ! I'm just confused all around basically! I'll be a newbie to WDW and have no idea about the misters, but they do sound like a nice gadget to have as well!

Too funny! I did visit a couple of times in July and it was HOT! I had all that stuff on too, plus a cool it neckerchief and a visor! It does look silly but got the job done! ;)

I always have a fanny pack with a bottle holder made into it. I carry a mostly empty Brita bottle and use it for a nice cool drink at water fountains. Saves money! The mister gets passed around. However, this last trip, the week before Memorial Day, we fought over the mister cause it was HOT! I seem to always carry too much, but always want to be prepared. Have a great trip and post pictures!

Too funny !!!:p

This last trip we had to carry a bunch of stuff because we were still toting diapers, so I carried the backpack with water bottles hanging on both sides. It wasn't too bad. We were so excited that I didn't notice the weight. Then we would trade the bag off to another person in the party when we hopped on a ride.

What I ended up doing some days was tanking a bunch of liquids before we left our hotel. Then I tool one bottle of water and tanked it at the park. Then I dumped the water bottle and didn't worry about drinks from that point on. If I felt like a coke, I'd just grab one.

I was more worried about staying hydrated than saving money.

All in all, I think I may have bought 3 sodas the whole time we were there.

Of course, we always went back to the room at naptime and that was my opportunity to start my hydration routine again.

I would say, if your child is old enough to carry the mister, let him/her. Each person should carry their own water bottle. The fanny pack feels almost non-existent once you get into the parks.

I totally understand that pack mule feeling. I can't wait til our next trip when DS can carry his own stuff!

Aloha!:sunny:

I got a visual on that !!!!!! Carry an empty bottle and fill it. At 2.50/a bottle for the 2 of us,even if we only bought 4 each that's $20 !!!!! We drink a lot of water normally so I can't imagine just 4. We'd be broke!!!

I got the britta bottle last year but I was trying to get on the plane with only carry-on luggage so I left it home. I did bring just the filters and they fit the disani water bottles perfectly! I got a water the first day in the park and then used my filter in the same bottle to refill at the parks and refilled them at the hotel with ice and water for the next day. I only bought 1 bottle of water the whole time I was there.

I am going to try the misty mate this year. I am also bringing my filters. No sense spending more money than I have to!

Seana, are the Disani water bottles smaller than the Brita? How do you use the filters...do the filters attach to the lid or something? I really want the Brita filters, but I hate the brita bottles - they are too big!

I have tried the britta filters in the bottle you buy at the parks and the smaller 8oz size and they work in both. You put the filters under the cap and they filter as you drink. The filters came with the britta bottle I bought but found replacements at my local grocery store. They are much easier to pack. Just make sure you squeeze a full bottle of water through the filter before you use it. (it said to do this in the instructions that came with the britta bottle). I just have the filter ready in a plastic bag in my pack.

I forgot to mention that you need to have a pull top on the bottle. the one that came with the britta bottle fits on the Disani bottles. And it was 12 oz bottles not 8

My mom also does all three; the mister, fanny pack and water bottle. The first time she did that we all laughed, but as everything came in handy we were really glad she was along:)

Also, when I went with my husband we carried a Brita bottle. I wish I had known the filter would fit in a Dasani bottle! That's a great tidbit for our next trip. It's not so much the price, but I can't stand the taste of the water there!! I guess I'm a little spoiled so I carry a bottle with me:)

Let them help you carry all of your (family's) stuff. They can take a turn with a backpack on their back and wear a fanny pack too.::yes::

:earseek: :rotfl: :rotfl: Ok, you people need to just calm down, its not that bad, I LIVE in 90 degree weather, but, only carry a fanny pak, I buy the Dasani Water, it tastes great, and have a GOOD time.::yes::

Probably not a way to lighten your load, but my friends just returned from Disney with their DS's 3 and 6. They brought something they referred to as a Camelpack (no idea of the spelling on this one really). They said that it was wonderful! My friends DH carried it on his back and said it was the best thing they brought! We're going in October so I hope we can deal with just a water bottle or two, but for those folks that are going in the heat of the summer, it sounded like something to consider!
