Hey guys!

My family and I love breakfast and right now I have 1900 Park Fare Booked, the Princess Storybook at Epcot and the Playhouse Disney Breakfast at H&V.

I'm honestly thinking this many planned character breakfasts are going to make my husband crazy so I'm thinking that dropping one of them would be a good idea.

We have 2 girls thus the princess breakfast and a little guy who is crazy about the Little Einsteins which is why we booked H&V - but I've read so many bleh reports on H&V that I am starting to reconsider that one.

Any input for me? We are really looking for great food in addition to a fun experience so give me the scoop. What would you recommend?

Thanks so much!
Robin

p.s. - if you have photos of any of these buffets, that would be AWESOME!

Subscribing......... I'm in the same boat with 6 character meals. I'd like to see what others have to say. We've got CRT, 1900 Park Faire, Akershus, H&V, Chef Mickey's and Crystal Palace.

Hi,

We did the Playhouse breakfast the first year they did it and at the time our 4yr old DD watched LE daily! I think the food was decent for standard breakfast stuff.

I took a bunch of pictures our girls met Leo, June, Annie from LE and the characters from JoJo's circus (Lion, JoJo). It was a nice change from the princesses. We also that same trip did 1900 at night, castle for breakfast.

Just be aware the LE characters are quite large so our DD were a little unsure at first. If you want some pictures send me a private message as I can never figure out how to post here.

Okay, so I can't really help you with breakfast there because we did lunch. I can help you with the "experience" part of it though. My DS LOVES Little Einstiens too. It was worth it to me just to see him dancing with June and conducting with Leo (my DS brought his Little Einstein baton).
They have different songs where all the characters dance with the kids in a central area. DS loved that too.
The food was OK. If I had paid out of pocket I would have been dissapointed with it, but since i was on DDP it didn't seem as bad of a deal. :)
I'm so glad we went one time. I don't think it will be an "every year place" for us, but it was worth going at least once.

Also, how can you mess up breakfast? Hopefully breakfast would be better than lunch!!

Just as a side note...one of our favorite meals was Crystal Palace breakfast. The food was good and there was great character interaction and they go on a "parade" around the restaurant with the kids. It was lots of fun!!

Have fun! Hope this helped some. :goodvibes

I can honestly say, the food wasn't the best. But it is standard breakfast buffet stuff, nothing special.

I must say, however, that the interaction was some of the best we have had at a character meal. DD2 is also a great fan of Playhouse Disney. She loved playing with JoJo and Leo. And the cast members who run things at H&V were fabulous. They had the kids up dancing and marching and even came over to check on us when nothing was going on.

If your kids like Playhouse Disney, then I say by all means schedule the breakfast there.

Well we hated it and will never do it again. The buffet had a big selection, but the quality of the food wasn't great.

The interaction was terrible! TERRIBLE!!! They had this little dance party every few minutes, that was interesting. But only 2 of the characters ever made it to our table and we were there for an hour and a half. We were trying to wait for the other two, but it felt as if we were wasting the day there. Obviously my kids were upset that they didn't get to meet the other two characters, but the wait was just ridiculious. The restaurant is basically in 2 sections, and 2 characters are in each section at a time. The characters stayed the same for us, they never even switched. The waitress kept assuring us that they would be around. It was just a busy, terrible experience for us that we'll never do again.

This is my main problem with character breakfasts in general. Since it's the morning, the amount of time you spend there is important. You never know how smoothly the character rotation will go and you feel kind of helpless and stuck when it doesn't go well. Dinners aren't so bad because even if it takes too long, it's the end of the day anyway so I just order another stiff drink. That always helps.

We've done almost all of the character meals, except for LTT and Akhersus (sp) and have never encountered the problems to the extent that we did at H & V. Maybe it was a bad day for them, maybe they were shorthanded, I don't know. At most character meals, at least one or two of the characters make it around twice. This was the only one in which we didn't even get to see them all, it was enough to leave a bad taste in my mouth.

We did the Play-N-Dine for breakfast last year and I was unimpressed. The food was just OK, but we were there for a late breakfast, 10:00, and they closed one of the serving lines right after we were seated so the lines were kind of long. Nothing seemed very fresh, possibly because it was the end of the breakfast hour.

All 4 characters did come by our table. They did the little dance party near where we were seated, and my older son did participate once or twice.

All in all, we give it a C+. We did not book it again this year.

We did the H&V Playhouse Disney breakfast in 2006-it was so-so-standard breakfast buffet basic eggs bacon etc. We had great photos and plenty of character interaction-my children love lil einstiens. They play games, dance have conga lines. I think its worth it-and seriously my DH wasnt thrilled about all the character breakfasts either-but once he saw how much fun the kids were having-he quickly changed his tune. And I have him dancing in one photo in a congaa line holding Annies hips to prove it Have a great trip!!!!

Don't do Play n Dine... It was terrible. Defiently don't waste a table service credit. The charactars take forever to come around. We just got back Sunday and that was our worst meal. We loved the charactar interaction at Garden Grill, Whispering Canyon was awsome, Crystal Palace was ok. I did notice that we prob. didn't even need ressies. There were lots of tables.

If you are looking for a great breakfast option without characters (to give your DH a break!), you might want to look into Boma breakfast buffet at AKL or Kona sit down breakfast at the Poly.

Both contain no characters and receive rave reviews on here!

No it was not terrible but it was not great either...As others stated, the buffet is small and nothing special there...The other places you have listed have a better selection...

My kids also love Play House Disney but they did not like these characters because they are very big and kind of strange looking because their heads are so big...Yes, they spend a lot of time at the tables and the parade/dancing is fun...But they just did not get into seeing these characters...These are two boys that love seeing the characters that did not like these characters at all...

We had a very nice server and we left full...But it just was not special and a bit strange...We did not regret going but we will not be back.

We had lunch there on Father's Day and then breakfast on our last day (June 17). JoJo, Goliath, June and Leo were the only characters there for both meals. I had hoped that other characters would have been there for breakfast. We weren't in a hurry at either of these meals. I got pictures of the girls at lunch and didn't worry about it at breakfast.

I thought the food was good there. I especially liked the breakfast. Guess it really depends on you and your family.

Thanks for all the input guys. We stay off property at Universal HRH so every meal is out of pocket so I'm thinking maybe we'll skip this one and just start the day with a yummy breakfast at the kitchen at HRH. I really appreciate all your help!
