H&V Breakfast and RD...what's the real deal?

I am not trying to do H&V Preopening to get a leg up on JTA signups but I also don't want to shoot myself in the foot by going. Will I have an opportunity to sign up first with ADR or almost certainly will not? Or should I pass on ADR and sit outside gate for an hour?

I want to be near first not for the early JTA signup slots, but rather sign up fast for an afternoon slot and hop out of the park as soon as possible.

Thanks for help and opinions

NOt sure what time your reservation is but Hollywood and Vine breakfasts tend to be on the longer side. Lots of littles excited to meet their favorite characters and they have the dance party breaks. I would try to sign up for Jedi Training before breakfast if its a big priority and grab a reservation for a later breakfast so you don't miss jedi training sign ups, or miss out on prime riding time.

We've always done H&V, and we've always been within the first 5 groups to sign up for JTA. Last time we did it, we were the first people to sign up and were out of the building and heading to TSMM before the second party even arrived at the building. We'd rather be eating breakfast than standing outside a park for an hour. Breakfast never takes long because the characters are non-speaking.

That being said, with the upcoming changes to JTA, it's impossible to know whether H&V will continue to be beneficial or not. I'd book just in case and then watch the boards for reports, though it will be sorta hard since not many people do the early ADRs just for JTA. Not many people think that it could possibly be benefical. ;)

It's an 8am breakfast for 9am park open. Other than maybe Jake, even that's questionable, he doesn't care about those characters all that much. I just figured it would be a nice way to not have to wait outside, get something to eat, spend some quality time with just him and me (while DS3 and DW are at AK), and see some characters while waiting.

I agree with hawking the boards for recent trips. That JTA parade thing the other day got me spooked but seems that was a one-off. After you leave are you allowed to go directly to sign up from restaurant via echo lake or back down main drag to reintegrate? Do you have to wait to see RDers before being released from restaurant?

We finish eating and then go outside and chat with CMs. They'll hold you in the general area of the restaurant, but as soon as the park opens--an announcement comes over their radios just as the background music changes--they'll let you walk to JTA signups. You don't need to head back to the center of the park, or wait for anyone for rope drop. That's why we were able to sign up so quickly in December...there was no one else from the breakfast heading to JTA and we were so close to the signups that no one from the park entrance made it there before we got signed up.
